I Built a Building a MAN CAVE!
Ойын-сауық
I build out an amazing ceiling in my man cave using my Norwood portable sawmill!
Working on the Sawsmahaul office/shop area just off the inside of the Norwood Sawmill. This is going to be an epic off grid sawmill when it's all done!
I build a sawmill shed out of lumber from the forest! I try to keep costs for the shed super cheap by re-using as much materials as I can, and sourcing materials from the forest around me. I use both milled woods, and many dead standing trees to make a structure that will keep my portable sawmill free of snow, ice, and rain. That way, I can use my sawmill year round without having to worry about the weather.

"Self-Reliance" is an 1841 essay written by American transcendentalist philosopher and essayist Ralph Waldo Emerson. It contains the most thorough statement of one of Emerson's recurrent themes: the need for each individual to avoid conformity and false consistency, and follow his own instincts and ideas. This channel will approach self reliance from a modern perspective. and will focus on various build projects using modern amenities, and tools to build a completely self reliant lifestyle.
Many people ask me where I am from and where I film my projects. I am from Northern Ontario, Canada, and live in an area where off-grinding is easy because I have lots of land to build on and experiment with different buildings and materials. Everything I do is to try to be more self reliant, and to depend less on others. But that doesn't mean I don't like working together with other people on projects. Knowing people who have skills is part of being self reliant, and trading skills is a great way to get more things done!

Probably the best Ryan’s kzread.infoUgkxGZedDTcDfgD7fG_uU4esfx_EgxzlY2_1 Plans on building a shed is hardly ever found. And Ryan takes the mystery out of different types of foundation options, etc. He even shows how to build a shed with different designs. Very comprehensive, covering different roofing materials, siding, etc.
For every visionary ... there are 100 naysayers. Thank God for the visionaries.
"I could probably put it in now..." This is why I love this channel, you inspire me to be way less lazy.

"You stare at your wood"
This guide is a good resource of videos, pictures and drawing. It does not have plans, so if that's what you're looking for don't bother with this book. kzread.infoUgkxLum--iPp9YKZ09j1BMdHaBMLkrGfIbcm What this book does have is a lot of great information on the building of sheds, design ideas, building options, etc. The author goes through the steps to build a foundation, framing, roof, even ideas on internal storage and external finishes. The text is easy to follow and understand. There are many sidebars that give tips and advice which most laymen probably wouldn't have considered. The photographs are great quality too. This is a great book and I'd recommend it highly for anyone needing or interested in building a shed.
"Long as I remember the rain been comin' down Clouds of mystery pourin' confusion on the ground Good men through the ages tryin' to find the sun And I wonder, still I wonder, who'll stop the rain?"
This channel will go to a million. Cant believe it’s not there already.
is your brother one of those rare people that cant imagine?(not being rude) there are just people out there that cant, and its a weird concept to someone like myself that has a vivid imagination even at 34 , i can literally picture most anything as if im looking at it or a photo of a done project, literally as you were explaining the lay out of the man cave i could see it changing as you added more
As far as your brothers concerns, I think that’s one of your gifts. A vision and interesting design concepts, especially some of your previous lighting affects.
It's a Mad Man cave ..... and we love you for it!! 😂
I love your videos. Don't think I've ever left a comment but what i love most is your humor and tone of voice while making us laugh. Your work is awesome too.
Kevin. You ABSOLUTELY have to make a working wooden shifting spanner to hang on the wall in your man cave
Kevin, the mad genius. Love the creativity and the way you push forward your vision.
Thank you for giving us people that live in the U.S a tour of Princes Auto. They also sell camping gear as well. I wish they had them here and Michigan.
I think you SHOULD make the wooden wrench! I play the “there’s a song about that, game. 😂😂😂😂
"Actually, I just wanted to say Snatch Block." -Don't ever change Kevin! 🤣
That MAN cave is going to be awesome! Don't listen to your brother, I love your creativity. On your shopping spree you had a massive adjustable ratchet socket that might be for loosening tractor tires or something large but I wouldn't buy an adjustable one, it won't work so well under a great deal of load. you'll slip and might pinch/break something. You may have forgotten a dust collector! That would be cool to collect the dust to help clear away the fire hazard with a fire stove so close. Build on buddy!
Frankie is de best helper
I truly appreciate your humor. You enjoy what you are doing, you have very creative ideas 💡. I enjoy your channel. Cheers
Your doing a great job on the Sawma' Hall..👌 you are a great builder! God bless🙏
do not question the DON the DON is always right even when he is wrong Praise be the DON !!!
Playing with all those tools is expressing the baby and the marvell that is in all of us 😂😂😂
Just like Chris, I am never able to imagine the vision you have. But each time I see the completed project I am amazed at your concept and ability to bring it to completion.
Muscles in the man cave... thankful that your focus is above ground rather than in the spider pit. Loving your enthusiasm. Wishing you and your family a blessed week filled with gentle seasonally appropriate weather and restful evenings. Peace brother
You are a wood working genius, keep it going and God bless
Chainsaw art & creativity at it's finest! 😊
Maneuvering huge log up to ceiling, by yourself, balancing on rickety ladder, three sides of windows... totally unfazed. Me holding my breath. Lime paste, sand & sawdust insulation will be rock hard, so fitting for a 'mancave'.
I. See. The. Man. Cave. !!!!!!! It’s gonna be awesome. 😊

So good to see ya not burried in that damn unstable groundhog hole! I really like your man cave/sawmill shed/ kicked out of the house home!! 😆😅🤣👍👌thanks for the video.....
Only time I’ve heard of Princess Auto was during Covid when someone tried to place an order for approx $1200 using my credit card info. Failed attempt but seeing Kevin with that huge wrench just created a fantasy where I’m standing behind whoever…….. That said, this is one of my favourite channels ever! Hi, Don and Frankie!
Been watching a long time and man it just keeps getting better and better can't wait for the next one
Have to say I am loving the look of the man cave, totally agree with you its going to be awesome!
When the video first started, I was reminded of the concept, “why women live longer than men,” when I saw you moving that first tree by yourself and using that rickety ladder. Glad you got some help for the second one.😊
Kevin you definitely drum to your own beat, in fact you bash it and are killing it, awesomely! 🥁😊
In the corners, you should cut a V in the wood to look like it is supported by trees. Make it bigger, great looking.
It is looking great.
You are a joy, your brother is the anti-joy.
Thats One Hell of A Man Cave ⁉️ 🙌🏽 ..... ""SAWSMAHAUL"" I Love It 😅

Great job enjoy watching everything you built
I LIKE YOUR VIDEOS. You should do more of them
WOW! Im jealous!!!
Those huge tools are used on heavy equipment like for grading to make roads and such! My dad used those to work on the heavy equipment that he drove.
Your brother may not see it yet, but I'm confident in your vision. I think it's gonna be a nice space!
So much fun watching you build this thing. Thanks for the video!
Enjoyed this one! Your creativity and craftsmanship always amaze me 😁 just a thought- with all the money you saved building the structure with parts and pieces you had stashed you had money to buy all the tools and gadgets at the store. Love that resourcefulness! 😆
Great video. I'm glad you posted keep them coming thanks
100% awesome man cave !!! Even better than what Tim Allen could build from Tooltime show 😉😂😂✌🏼😎🥇🥇🥇🥇
@16:38 That Rachet is probably for Heavy Duty stuff like Dumptrucks, Caterpilar trucks, etc. 😊 By the way, you just gave me he inspiration to start on my closet. I have nearly everything. Only need to buy the wood planks and the drawer slidings you call them. I already have tha plans with what I need. The cork flooring and cedar planks for the back is what I am missing but I can do that later. 🤔
Omg...Princess Auto looks like DisneyLand!
Farm equipment……tools my grandpa had. Love, love, love that store! Omg
Thanks Kevin for your vid 😇💟💟💟 Love and bless us all in divine light and so it is. good work 👍😁🐔👏👏👏
Just use the windows as whiteboards. Works a treat.side note you need at least one or two storage cabinets. Or old fridges
Oh my gosh, I thought you were just kidding around with your brother when you were describing the tray ceiling, can lights, etc. That ceiling is beautiful. Too nice for a man cave! 😂
I love the way the rain sounds on the tin roof. It's so soothing.
Really good shopping experience!!!😊🎉❤
Love it ❤
Wow you are amazing worker and it looks really good 👍👍 2 thumbs up 👍👍
great rainy day project and awesome sponsorship
When your brother eats his first ground hog sandwich there he'll love it!
So much fun to watch! Wish there were a Kevin that lives close to me so I could be his Don!
You are going to leave a legacy on your property dedicated to all your work and ingenuity ❤
thanks for bringing us along to Princess Auto. Another great project
Whilk and Miskey, the rain is my friend. I think that's the one. Awesome episode!
You got it goin on!
the result looks amazing, my guy
I have learned not to question your ideas lol I have seen too many times when you said you were building something and I could not see it until you were done then it was like oh yea ok lol so I believe this will be all you say it will be lol
I love your Mancave xx
Kevin you're so creative! You always add some extremely interesting design ideas to your builds! Love it!
Good to see the saws mahal .
Kevin that’s the coolest man cave sawmill house ever built! It’s the one of a kind! Great show great job 👏
We also got to meet 'The Princess' at Princess Auto: she is pretty and personable. LIGHTING: 'EVEN' counts for illuminating workspaces. I needed the best light I could get for sharpening chains.
Sooo fun to watch
You should totally get those huge tools and mount them in your man cave for decor!
I think your show should be called Canadian Forces station cause of all the man caves you have made. You should build a fortified wall around the station and build watch towers at every corner. Next, you should build a dining facility for all your troops.
@ModernSelfReliance

The dining station is in the works.. the other stuff... Hmm ...
I envision it as an old glassed in museum room where people come to visit. Like a snow globe. :)
Hello from Minnesota USA! I don't know how The Wooded Beardsman couldn't see your vision. I could see it perfectly!😁
Kevin, The Man Cave is coming along nicely. Really like the ceiling and lighting.
Fricking sweeet!
Use the window as a sciency see through white board.
Great idea!
Kevin - Your channel continues to be my Saturday morning viewing while enjoying coffee. Some day you could literally charge folks to come and tour your property & check out the cool things Don, your brother, and you have built together. haha!
Love princess auto to. Amazing job on man cave
Here goes the mad designer watch you go like a busy 🦫 beaver wow you can build structures we love all you do and are take care❤
You would be surprised how often a large all-16ths comes in handy.
Kevin inquiring minds want to know. Do you stand back, look at an area & make decisions as to what you want to build Or create? Or do you sit down & come up with a drawing/blue print before hand THEN get started. Thanks for another great video. Excited to see what’s next.

Look at a space and decide.... Don is always wondering it's gonna look until the very end.
The "man cave/ workshop/ break room/ Chris doesn't know what it is" sawmillmahall, is looking great! The trip to Princess Auto looked like a hoot..lol 😂😅 Love what you're doing ❤️
Full Stop. Nice work!
i can imagine you building a big wooden pegboard with all the comically oversized hand tools
I get your vision! And I’m a woman…but 80 years old old bush school!!! I get it
Kevin, you are so creative! I love your enthusiasm! This was such a good video! I can’t wait to see the next!
I'm pausing at 17:42 to ask everyone watching to upvote the idea for Kevin to build a giant wooden thumbtack that sticks in the grass. This is the most randomly random idea I've ever heard. Please make that happen.

WOW, Very Hard By Yourself. Is the Ladder rated for 300 Lb. ? Glad your brother came to Help you. Tell your brother it all in your head, and you don't need a Whiteboard.😁 I have always wanted to see inside the Auto store. Now your good Helper came (Don) to help you, very nice job. That wood is very nice. Almost like our Tractor Supply or our Rural King. Do they have a Harbor Freight in your area. Looks like things cost big bucks there $,$$$$. They have everything there.
Love the name! Saws Mahal! 🤣💯
Super impressed with the build. Look forward to seeing this thing in action!
The big orange masher is called a Monster Maul.
I'm an ironworker, by trade. I love heavy metal!
I am almost out from watching all your videos, So please make more❤ Say Hi to Don ! And as always God Bless you all from Ohio😊
Princess auto looks like the Canadian version of Harbor Freight
