Today we're checking out Train Sim World: CSX Heavy Haul, and it is a beautiful game. You get to experience a LOT of stuff, including train operation, railway operation, cargo pickup, train car manipulation, and on top of that you can explore the trains as much as you want, hopping from car to car, going inside, and even stopping the train and walking along the tracks if you wish. Many people have mentioned it's poorly optimized, and they're right, but man, if they can get the optimization down this would be a fantastic game.

Train Sim World®: CSX Heavy Haul is an all-new First Person Simulator that brings to life the experience of operating powerful and heavy freight trains on one of America’s most stunning and famous railroads; Sand Patch Grade.
Powered by Dovetail Games’ new SimuGraph® vehicle dynamics engine and Unreal Engine 4® technology, Train Sim World uses real-world data to accurately replicate the performance, sounds and feel of real trains.
Featuring complete in-cab interactivity, take control of one of the three featured locos and feel the detail as you sit in the driver’s seat and bring some of the world’s biggest and most powerful trains roaring to life.
You’ve been invited to work for CSX Transportation as a railroad engineer delivering important cargo on tight schedules. With six challenging scenarios and many places to explore including Rockwood Mine, Sand Patch Summit and Cumberland Yard, your skill, focus and endurance will be tested to the limit.
Experience a full ‘day-in-the-life’, with the brand new Service Mode, which features the recreation of a 24-hour timetable based on real-world operations. No two days are the same. Hop on and off a range of services as they carry out their duties. Take control or ride along, the choice is yours.
Train Sim World caters to players of all ability levels, featuring seven guided tutorials that cover everything from getting started with the software for newcomers to operating the locomotives for more advanced players. Climb into the cab and learn to operate the three very different locos step-by-step, quickly moving from novice to expert.

    the top speed of that particular locomotive type, which is an EMD SD40-2, is 65 mph with standard gearing. and your explanation of dynamic braking was great. A diesel locomotive works by using a diesel engine to turn an electric generator, which powers electric traction motors, which drive the wheels. the dynamic brake reverses the polarity of those motors, thus slowing the train down, and the excess energy is dispersed as heat. and by the way, when you're slowing the train down, you don't mess with the reverser setting, even putting it in neutral. i'm pretty sure moving the reverser while the train is in motion can cause damage.

  • @gandalf87264
    @gandalf872645 жыл бұрын

    Great video. I liked your commentary. To clear up the dynamic blare mystery, when any electric motor is given electricity, it turns. When electricity is taken off it, as long as it it is still turning, it generates electricity. What the dynamic brake does is creates a resistance (A partial short) across the traction motors. That makes it harder for the motor to turn, but that won't stop it all together. The slower it turns, the less electricity it will produce, so get your hands on those air brakes if you are at 10 miles a hour or less.

    the cold start procedure is pretty simple. to start you are going to want to climb aboard the train if you have not already, then you are going to proceed to the midsection of the locomotive, around the midsection of locomotive you are going to see some latches, once you have located them you will going to want to release them, then you are going to want to open the panel which should review the engine, depending on which side of the engine you open the engine housing from you are going to see a prime/start switch, you are going to want to hold the switch in the prime position for a few seconds, then put it into start position and then you should hear the engine starting up

    Gray, Although DTG is not one of the bigger studios you can hardly call them indie. They are making train sims since MSTS litterally, DTG evolved from the original MSTS team, made railworks, Train Simulator 20xx, are developing the current FSX and a fishing sim and are developing a new flight sim. Few tips: Normally you do not use the reverser for braking. However, if you dod so consider this. The reverser controls the direction your engine will send you. Putting the reverser back when you go forward and then throttles up will give a braking effect as well. I used that in TS2017 on yards for quick coupling and reversing out of sidings. (below 5mph speeds only) TSW will run on DLC, if it's predecessor is any indication be prepared to pull your wallet often in the future, TS2017 DLC is hanging around the $4k mark. However.... steam... sales... use... TSW is basically TS2017 with better graphics and physics, I would recommend you check out MattPeddlesden on youtube. Besides him being one of the devs of this game he has some really useful content to learn more about the game and the engines in it. His channel goes by TrainSimLive. I am sure that, just like with MSTS and TS20xx, there will be loads of freeware mods on the internet. Keep an eye on sites like railworksamerica.com (US content) uktrainsim.com (UK content) and railsim.de (EU content) these are the contries the previous game focused n most and they are likely to do the same in this game. Play in moderation, or you will get addicted :P

    The green, yellow and red symbols are your signals usually when you see a yellow signal go half the speed because the next signal might be red and you will need to stop at that signal due to another train ahead or a switch that dispatcher needs to switch for you. The blue icon is your waypoints or check points when it says go via on the top left you keep going, you only stop when it says stop on the top left or something like that it might say pick up passengers when they add it, it might say load up with coal, always on the top left it will always tell you what to do

    Depending on your locomotive it’s pretty accurate as far as the CSX locomotives

    Hi Gray, sorry that this comment is so late, but yes the cab interior is incredibly accurate, considering the fact that the railroad based on this game is a real life railroad in America, so yes the cab interiors are accurate.

    The only reason there are speed limits in the yard and every where is just tone safe. But it is also to keep you from derailing on turns.

    The reason there is so much detail is because CSX, one of the leading train companies made this game.

    Lol when I played this game, I hooked the locos to the train and got out to switch a train track position, but I had forgotten to put the brakes on the train so it was now a runaway train (as we were on a slight slope), I was running for miles before it eventually stopped to let me back on. Thank goodness it wasnt at full throttle like in the movie!

    dynamic brake turns the traction motors into generators using the momentum of the wheels to create electricity which goes to grids as heat. best used to bunch your train at speed instead of using your independent. the independent works similar to a brake pedal and best used under 15 mph and lightly to avoid flat spots.
