A lot of guys would have been stuck there. That's why it's good to know your vehicle inside and out. Solid there bud!
Sir I have a lot of respect for you!! That’s amazing how you worked through not having a clutch cable!!
You never missed a beat when the cable broke, good job.
Therefore I love old Trucks and Cars. Shifting without Clutch and the Journey goes on. Greets from GIESSEN/Germany
It is a adventure coming to this channel! Love how you stay positive! Thanks
Orwell is like a hybrid. Shuts off when you stop at a red light.
My dad bought a 1967 beetle brand new. He drove it for 30 yrs and refused to buy another car as long as his beetle was running. One day he was driving down the highway and pushed the clutch in and the rusted floor board gave way and the whole pedal assembly went through the floor and tumbled down the highway behind him. It was time for a new car....and this gave us kids a big laugh.
Had my car clutch cable broke back in the early 80's twice. Did the same thing you do to shift.
You have the best camera angles! Good luck with your clutch!!!
You would never be able to bump start a newer electronic diesel like you did. Another reason: Long live the Old Diesels!

what makes you say that? Had it happen to me in an 07 volvo. Throw-out bearing exploded halfway up an off ramp. Made it to a parking spot for the night, then in the morning stuck her in low and started the motor and drove 300 miles home. Luckily I was empty. Clutch had over 600k miles on it, 400 of that I had put on it!

No, pulled into Story City Iowa behind the McDonald's. Lot is flat but its all pull through parking. If I had parked on a hill why would I even think about starting it in gear.
00:55 one of my favorite camera angles. Makes it feel like your in the driver's seat. Nice music at the beginning. Glad you made it home safe.

I think it would be neat if he got am angle from the passenger seats, point if view. As if you were sitting in Passenger.
You handled that clutch incident well they don’t ilustrate that in these new truck driver training academies
BIG TRUCKS BIG BUCKS! It's always something!
Good job see you soon thanks for the show, have a good one.
Broke the clutch cabled on my 72 Pete 353 COE in downtown Detroit. Drove it 70 mile home without a clutch. No problem. Simple repair.
@9:49 that is the best advice one can live by. Cant let the 'little's things like a broken clutch get ya down! Lmao great driving as usual buddy!
Been there done that, good job. You’re an outstanding truck driver!
Bungee the clutch pedal up then the Jake should work if the switch is hooked to the pedal.

hold it up with your foot not that hard.
You ever try to fold your tarps on the trailer... they stay a lot cleaner. A company called builders transport used to have 1 piece lumber tarps and one of their drivers showed me how to fold it on the trailer. That was before the great pumpkin bought them out.
He looks like a awesome guy to hang out with and have a few drinks with
I honestly am so lost at these guys who have no clue how to really drive. I’ve grown up with an entire family driving truck. My pap whose been dead for years. My uncles and dad all drove. My dad has owned trucks and mostly cabovers since I was born. He’s in bad shape now but he has always drove. I completely understand what your doing. In fact I’m in my mid thirty’s and I had to teach myself how to double clutch a truck which is and was unheard of when I grew up. There where guys at a company I started driving for who only been around driving for a year or so and when I didn’t use a clutch they were blown away. I’m just glad you know what it’s all about. Your a good guy.
The way you started after your cable snap that was like bump starting a dirtbike soo genius 🔥

My 84 .. clutch went out leaving Chicago myself,... It's a 362 Pete thing,... Real Fun Day driving back to Nebraska,...
Keep on Truckin 💯 God Bless
I had had that happen as I exited the PA turnpike years ago. Fortunately it was in Carlisle with several truck stops nearby. So I called the office and had them send a wrecker to drag me back to the office.
Sorry to hear about Mr. Orwell being broken again I have and idea if it will work Air Craft Cable the braided kind since Peterbilt can't get one Can't wait for the next video I enjoy watching them Safe travels back home
If you put your toe under the clutch pedal and lift, the clutch pedal will make contact with the micro switch and the Jake will work. Just sayin' You have the best attitude and guys like you are the kind of people to hang around with. Take care and stay safe out there. Bob in Idaho driver of 48 years.
I drive a ‘65 Corvair when I was in college. It, of course had engine and trans in the rear with a 4 speed trans. My clutch cable broke several times in traffic so I got to where I could shift it without clutch. Although I never figured out how to go from 3rd to 4th. Either drive in 3rd on highway or skipped 3rd and went from 2nd to 4th.
Always great content boss
Kinda hard on the transmission to yank it into low and go from there. Glad you’re able to start that old rig in gear. The trucks I drive won’t start if the parking brake isn’t set. Don’t know if it would even crank if it wasn’t in neutral...haven’t tried either. Awesome deal to know how to limp it if you have to.
The Pilot on Harlem Ave... You're driving around right down the street from one of my usual customers. That Pilot is always packed haha
You're O G brother take more broken clutch cable to strand you...😅
I used to cut frame rails for McNeilus Steel in Dodge Center MN then they were shipped of to Oshkosh in WI
Hope it wasn't your favorit clutchcable 😊 I enjoyed the vlog, Awesome truck, ty. Subscribed, stay safe
I had to change a clutch master cylinder on a CL-9000, in a parking lot in Montreal in 1985. It would give you one try to get it in gear, but you had to be fast, then it would engage very quickly. Backing into docks was not fun.
Old school of hard knocks gets you pretty far. That's y i love those trucks.
I drove a volkswagen beetle in high school that occasionally would have the same clutch cable problem. I always started it in first gear just like what you had to do with Orwell.
I came past your shop today but I only saw the Pete 352 out back!!
Years ago at our KW dealership we used to have a few new clutch cables on hand for Peterbilt COE customers KW COE used linkage rods for the clutch

i sure miss the old trucks the old FLDs u could do this to but the 2019 t680 i drive wouldnt even let u think of trying it cruise control was your right foot and the radio had a cassette with 1 inch long buttons u pushed in with an audible clunk my 680 im sure is more comfortable but that FLD never broke down in the 5 years i drove her the 680 in the year ive had it has been to the dealer 8 times for stuff breaking
Where there is a will, there is a way!
I love forming equipment
Ouch but at Orwell drives just as smooth without it experience counts 😊 when i did Uk international driving some of the best pullers i had where ERF, IVECO & MAN with Eaton or Fuller twin splitters, clutch only used for start or stop, rest of time all down to revs baby 😊😊
Hi my name is Chris I like your video and you are so cool 😎
GOOD LUCK TRYING TO MATCH YOUR CLUTCH CABLE, I MUST ADMIT IVE NEVER HAD THAT PROBLEM, BUT YOUR A MUCH BETTER MECHANIC THAN I AM.
Reason I love ol school cars and trucks!!
Awesome cideo
Not a big new Audi guy but those old rs4’s and s4’s are nice , you caught a nice yellow one after the clutch went lol.
Yep broke the clutch cable on 352 Peterbilt coming north out of San Diego, drove back to the shop in El Segundo and managed to never have to stop. Idled up to a couple of stop lights but never actually stopped.
Talk about a bad day at the office 😊
Yeah... I've lost clutches for different reasons. I did the same thing to dog it back to the shop. I was unloaded though. Find ac company that makes rigging with wire rope (steel cable). They might be able to make a cable with swaged ends if that's what you need.
Orwell would really look nice with some shiny chrome wheels on the rear!
Gotta ask. Who puts the music on in editing? Cause I love it you guys do such a kick ass job keep it up so glad I found your channel.
I was in this situation once, i got started by quickly poking into 2nd gear... no crunching if you are fast enough.
You are my favorite KZread because I love cabover because my grandfather had a complete and all the trucks were cabover

Several in my family were full-time truck drivers and as a kid I had wanted to grow up and become a trucker just like them, lol. My dad drove mostly cabover's in the 80s, he even had a side business doing pin striping on big rigs and did some beautiful trucks during that time. Of course life has a way of changing your plans and I ended up becoming a wife and stay at home mother instead of chasing my OTR dreams, but I'm glad it worked out like that. I still love the trucking dreams but they're just dreams now and that's ok. I get to enjoy watching others like yourself doing what I never got to do and I love that it's even possible. So thank you for taking me and everyone else like me along for the ride and the adventurers. Keep up the great work and the great videos and stay safe out on the road!
Over here in the uk hardly any trucks with a manual gearbox all autos 🏴
Where you drop the trailer off, I wonder if they had a maintenance/repair department. Don't discount the kindness of strangers! Great video!

Some bailing wire and gum to fix it. Such a great line.
Well there's torque when you pull it back into the low hole but it's moving so slow that it falls right into place so I'm I'm impressed with a lot of stuff that you do and I like the work you do but we don't know it all so hopefully you'll take it to what I said about when you clutch cable breaks again if you don't have to wipe out your starter like I said had a complete idle brakes released bring the stick over your leg and pull back one quick motion and the truck's going to take right off and low gear low low
I bet that first cop was a spotter while the other with his lights was the chaser. St Louis sometimes has that with the ones on the overpass bridges, they tag you while the ones on the highway chase you down.
Good morning.
Been there done that be safe god bless
8:04 It was at this moment that he knew he f#cked up 🤣🤣
Shiiii, wish I had drivers like you. I would have been dispatched with my tow boom a spare cable and hitch lock.
The things we do for love. Hero, you just take it al in stride don't.you? I drove my old Pete from Goodletsville, TN. to a Peterbilt shop in northern OH on I-75 one time. I hope you've got all of Orwells needs taken care of by now and had a good rest. Later
FSC speed shop wazzup!!!!
Ive even drove all way from ohio with truck stuck in high gear thank god the scales were closed had to buy a top loader kit for the transmission cost whole 17 $to fix it
JUST SUBSCRIBED 2 UR CHANNEL DUDE!!!!
The guys that ask how you drive without a clutch has got to be rookies, and I had a pete like yours back in the day and broke my clutch cable as well...
lol i drive a truck with out a clutch pedal and to use the engine brakes lift the pedal up with your foot i got stuck with out foot brakes (tredal valve stuck) had to use trailer brakes lucky it was in the middle of the night and in the city heading to freo port for morning drop off of wheat i missjudged a set of lights so turned of the main drag did a u turn at service station think the the truck had 18 ton and the 6 axle dog trailer had 32ton (tri axle dolly and tri axle tip over axle tefco grain trailer )be looking forward to fix video till then good luck Mr. Feszchak

its not an automatic screw that i like manual trucks the truck has a clutch pedal only use it when to take of or to use the pto
Or well giving you a little trouble good luck buddy
I had the clutch linkage break on a conventional Pete this fall, not cool. There are truck scrap yards in the area that may have parts for Orwell. One small place north of Freedom, one north of New London.
Time for a new rig
You are a professional for sure. Broken clutch cable would have disabled me with anger alone. You however have things under control. Your next job should be a CDL INSTUCTOR.
@fsctrucking

Um... NO!
Too bad about the clutch cable. When I learned to drive I was taught only to use the clutch for starting and sometimes stopping. The rest of the time I never touched the clutch none of this double clutching. I still drive this way shifting without the clutch. I learned in a 1970 KW 318 Detroit with a 13spd. Then into a cabover Freightliner with a 220 Cummins with a 5 and 4 spd. Drivers now days don`t know what driving real trucks are like. I think every driver should spend time in the only trucks. Trucks now are like cars not like the old Freightliner that took me an hour to drive 3 miles. Thank you for another nice video.
BEEN THERE
worlds quickest unload
There is a beautiful black cabover semi truck for sale in gibsonton Florida
That's a drag the cable broke. I had one break on the Elizabethtown scale once in a 352. Hope your repair is painless. The price of cool ain't cheap
I went threw this with my W900 but stopped in a parking lot about 45 mins away and took over 2 hours to get it fixed.
That's old time trucking. Bill
I had a heavy truck with a semi. The truck had hydraulic use for a clutch. every 500 000 km there was a hose going broken. Never needed a towing truck, every time to get to the garage with the same tactic.

awwww man
I wonder what the recent driving school graduates do in your case ? I guarantee they would be completely lost. Good luck on finding a clutch cable easily.
I had a 66 comet cyclone I had to do that if I went anywhere
It’s amazing how old trucks.....you don’t need to clutch....you let go of gas pedal....shift and go.....
Steve...1st one you passed was a Illinois bear.
Old skool baby who needs a clutch cable most of this modern crap with automated transmissions the computer would just say NO A friend of mine has a 362 and the cable snapped I found one in The Netherlands 🇳🇱 in the end we modified it and converted it to air over hydraulic using parts from a British Foden truck
I have found that you can jurk tram is sion into lowest gear works better than starting out with starter, starter won't last very long.
@fsctrucking

Starter is cheaper than a wrecker and lost revenue.
My favorite kind of cabover is a Peterbilt
You only need the clutch to take off and stop just float gears the rest of the way
Install a clutch override switch so that you can use the jakes
Wow, I had no idea that those trucks had clutch cables. I assumed they would be mechanical clutch linkage, or hydraulic. Can you retrofit a hydraulic clutch?
When will you do the next live stream?
Anyone whose been driving atleast 5 years knows how to float gears and if they dont I'm sorry but u need to learn your tractors rpms and syncros a few times I've had to limp home some older shaker flds with no working clutch and Jake's lol

I am weird, I am European as such I drive a manual transmission car. However, I have memorized speeds, gear RPMs so I can theoretically do this, however it has come in handy for when the speedometer broke and getting it fixed is a massive pain for similar reasons. (Old car, parts are equally bust.) But I mainly learned it so I could make smoother gear changes and reduce clutch wear.
Should be able to get a blueprint off the internet
Always push the clutch in on tractors to get them started.

Scott Kaercher you can't if its broke brother you have to cut it off and crank it in gear to get it going ive done this many times when I've had to swap tractors with drivers to get the tractor back to shop for repairs, drivers today dont know squat and there trying there best to get rid of us ole timers lol. I use to pull over size pilot cars say how you wanna do this id tell them you just keep up and try to look good I cant drive but one vehicle at a time. I'd always beat them to the job site.
