Nah, only toyotas with disc rear brakes. My 1978 and 1979 toyota corolla sedans have a working handbrake (drum brakes on the rear) my 1986 toyota corona one works too, although with that one i had to lock the self adjuster in place as it was causing it to self adjust to far when you use it for drifting and caused the brake on the right hand side to drag after a few corners

Way cooler than my shitbox. At least it has some individuality to it. I drive a 2007 Hyundai Accent and the only thing cool about it is the fact that it has an 8 ball shifter (and that's arguably tacky).

I wonder how these seats found their way up to Japan, D&W was a famous "tuning parts store" back in the days in germany, selling all the popular german 90's tuning stuff like air filters, racing seats, sport exhausts and funny aluminum plates for your feets to rest on.. They supplied you with all you needed to be cool back then 🤣🤣🤣

Japan has big car culture, they got everything, pre merger AMG's, mk1 golf GTI's, lancia delta integrales and even a lot of american cars. Its no wonder german tuning parts were sold in Japan

That's right, you find probably almost everything in Japan, D&W was something like the german Version of up garage, but not as close as famous except in germany itself.. It's kinda dead now

It's so weird watching "classic" economy cars go for thousands and thousands of dollars...15 years ago a mint AE86 GTS was maybe $3k CAD, I had my eye on a few of them. Never bought one, too expensive! Is this what getting old feels like?

I doubt he'll be doing much repair work, probably just be putting new dampers in and fixing it whenever it breaks. Hope I'm wrong though

He’ll replace seat, steering wheel, fix handbrake, brake booster, and dampers... and duct tape the rest. At least that’s what I’d do. It’s just too far gone to restore.

I love everything about this car and this series with the Beans 86!
If it wasn't for all the rust, I would say this is a worthwhile project. But geez, that's going to be a lot of work to repair. I've owned two corollas and kept one, which wasn't too far off from this hunk of beauty. Still, i'm glad you are reunited with what made your channel a crowd favorite. I'm looking forward to seeing more vids of your corolla virus!

the metalwork itself required on this car prolly around 1000 hours, most likely not worth to restore if you cant do it urself...
This needs to be stripped and sandblasted. But i'm afraid that the frame would be more rust than steel at this point.

@@0xsergy The chassis is too far gone. The rust has probably compromised its structural integrity. He'd be lucky if the car doesn't snap in half at some point. It would need extensive fab work to clean up all the rust and weld plates over the holes to strengthen it and bring back some rigidity. And they're not rare at all, just expensive. And he doesn't live in the US.

@@ErebosGR it does have a rollcsge so I doubt it's that close to breaking but yeah it's in rough shape. Only an ae86 is worth the time for repairing out of this and obviously not to each dude. And yeah they are getting rare hence why they're also getting expensive. 10 years ago they were fairly cheap.
Perfect project for Origin Labo bumpers and wide fenders plus CF / FRP body parts. Nardi Deep corn steering wheel fixes the steering wheel issue. Just cut the spare tyre area off and replace with flat surface.

yea i paid a fair bit of money to have my beams wired i to my ra65 dashboard. but it looks stock from the driver seat and i dont regret it

2:00 like old Chevys. The door hinge always gets knackered, and they end up sagging.
Can't wait to see, what you do to it. If this was mine, I'd definitely do door swap and some rust repair on the body.
This is honestly going to be some of the most fun you're gonna have Alex, so much better than safe fun
