I Bought the WORLD'S WORST 'Cuda - Will It Drag Race?
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
"Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God." -2 Corinthians 1:4
Can't say that I've ever experienced a car worse than this one, but heck is it something else! I can't help but love a piece of garbage such as this 'Cuda that sat in a ravine for decades before being revived for drag racing. Think we can make it race once more? Stick around to the end of the video to find out!

This thing is seriously cool. Also welldone to your wife on the "what does my wife think" segment, it's not easy going in front of the camera and I thought she did a great job
You have a kind, loving, merciful wife. She's obviously uncomfortable on camera... she does it all for you because she loves you. PS I like your Cuda

First off, I laughed way harder than I should have at the gas tank falling out on you and dumping nasty gas everywhere (been there). 2nd you have a winner there with your wife Mr. McCool. I don't think many women would be that happy about their husband's bringing home something in that state. She should definitely be a regular feature on the channel 👌

He's a lot nicer with the words when the gas went everywhere.
Your Mrs is a very rare gem to accept a vehicle in that condition! Kudos to the both of you!👍 Hope it turns out to be a killer Cuda!
Your wife was pretty gracious, things considered. Was half expecting her to burst out laughing 😃. You got a winner there, my friend. As for a name, how about Barraturda, the unpolishable one?
So funny that somebody called it MR.Hankey and also put the „Howdy Ho!!“ on it 😂😂love your content 👌🏽
The wife's reaction was definitely the high point of the video! I think MANY of us watching this video have seen a VERY similar face from our loving wives.. the cool part is how many are very accepting of the cars we bring home , KNOWING the outcome is a car they enjoy to ride in , to the local car shows and restaurants and drag strip

Was great meeting you and your wife at MoParty this year. I didn't realize the Cuda even ran, or I would have asked to drive it.....Not! Too much rusted metal, and I've had a tetnus shot in the last 10 years. Hope to see you again next year.

I love the “what does my wife think” segment. As someone who is married to the opposite of a car person…she has said very little to discourage me about my car collection, including my current restoration sitting in the driveway…flat tires and all. Not to mention the metal recycle pile that grows and shrinks over and over as I do work and make runs to the recycling center, lol. You have to truly appreciate the patience and tolerance of what must seem like insanity that our significant others afford us. She has flat out told me she doesn’t understand why my old ‘ran down’ truck is worth so much, and why don’t I just sell it and just buy a newer one that works if it’s worth as much as it is.
This thing is almost as busted as the Holey Goat. I love it!
The wife approved “Turdacuda” lmao
I'm thinking, yeah, put a clutch in that challenger and see about getting the time down. In the future, it would be super sweet to see you do a hemi swap in a 70s 4x4 dodge. Maybe a 3\4 ton and that could be your tow rig. Something to think about.
Bring the Cuda to a few more shows and it will be completely rebuilt with all the help you have. Gives everyone something to do. :)
Haha mccool the wife it’s a good one The look on her face was priceless
I heard big block, NASCAR exhaust and 4 speed. I’m hooked
I love how soft Your wife's voice is She is trying so hard to Be Super Nice she heard the motor and was like oh yeah that helps makes your buying mistake way better Hunny lol 😆 🤣🤣 @Dylan McCool
She the sweetest southern Tennessee girl, you can hear it in her voice and her laugh, not to mention that her more than pleasant reaction. The car, I never would have bought that. Don't get me wrong it's going to be great for content, just not a project for my pocket. Bless your wife...
That’s the same way that my 17 year old son removed the gas tank on his 71 Monte Carlo, and he has an electric fuel pump also, so when I got home and there was 150 pounds of kitty litter on the driveway I had to ask why he didn’t just turn on the fuel pump and empty the tank into the four empty 5 gallon used oil container sitting right next to his car

I was thinking Barely-Cuda!
Great to see your wife on camera. If she supports you with all the stuff you get up to, she’s definitely a keeper.
Had a 71Cuda 383. Pollution got the 440 leaving 340/383. Totally 💩 engines! In 72 Mopar offered two four barrels which were NO help! They figured out the pollution problem and the 440 came back. Sold it at a loss and that was my "regret" car!!
Your wife is too kind. It's nice to have unwavering support.
Love that you save these old cars. Especially crump. Congratulations didn't know you were married. Been watching for years.. love first and second generation Dakotas. Really I like any old car especially 60s and 70s
she had that deer in the headlight look . Bless her heart
I'd really like to see you bring this one back, show just how good you can make it on a budget. Doesn't have to be perfect, just straighten out the dents, maybe a flat original color paint job. Your wife was so funny (her face spoke volumes), and yes you really do need to put that on a shirt.
That is cool! Looking forward to seeing you bring this thing back to life, and see what your ultimate plans are for it.
17:40 how much of that disintegrating dash will Dylan inhale during that burnout😂
Boy that Cruda (Crude-a in my head) is a beauty of a machine. The fact the headlight rolled out and kept working gave me the image of Quasimodo as a car!
"Project String Theory" is an awesome car when it was as it is now....Love these cars and I couldn't do anything but display it. Dylan, it's cool your giving these beauties another crank at rolling.
I've sold worse. Around 2005 I helped a friend sell a pair of 73-74 Cudas. There may have been one car between the two. One was missing an entire inner fender. They were New York cars that saw salt, then sat in the dirt for years. Probably the entire bottom 12" needed replacement. One might have still had a 318 in it. This car was at least in a dry climate, between floodings.
Your wife didn't look that surprised that you would buy that Baracuda. My wife has that same expression on her face sometimes 😂
"Could be worse." The kind words of a loving, tolerant, and supportive spouse.
Absolutely love the car definitely can’t wait to see what gets done to it
Honestly the bodywork on that Cuda really isn't that bad - it's the interior that is truly shocking.
Theres a 73 cuda that's been in same spot since 76. It's in pa. Been flooded completely 2 times . I call it the cuda landmark or mile marker .
Watching this brought back a memory from my younger days. I got an old Dodge Dart GT 1967. What I thought was a cool car and it was . I asked my Dad, What do you think Pop??? He leaned his head over to give it a look and said. Son I think you should jack up the radiator cap and drive another car under it... I built that car up to something really great and drove it everywhere and passed it around to family members but that old car always ran like a champ...
Sand all the rust down to bare metal, fix the dangerously rusted areas, let it surface rust again and seal the natural rust with a matte clear coat. That's what i'd personally like to see. The car needs to be preserved. It's somewhat of an american icon in the making.
This is a perfect car to show what the aftermarket has to offer. I vote for full rebuild

I like the "Crudycuda" as far as what to do with it?? Do you still have that old gas and a match? lol Always love your content Dillon keep it real!!

Your wife is a wonderful lady. Do what ever it takes to keep her happy. That being said, Good luck with your travels with this car.
It was great meeting Ali! We love it when the wives join in. Welcome!
Your wife is a true southern lady, she would never say anything bad about her man in public and she wouldn't insult his ride in front of him either!
These are the best kind of cars you can buy, doesn't matter how much money you lose. It's about the history and story it can tell, this thing is downright awesome!
Thank you for sharing and your APPRECIATION for your subs Dylan
Awesome stuff man..enjoy your videos!
Yes, please more on this one! Do a series and roadsteration like the Challenger. This is as amazing a story if not better than the Challenger and it deserves to be a nice car again. You've already got the engine, replace or do some body work on the panels, and a great interior so your wife will ride in it. Save the bullet holes if you can. POLISH THE TURD!!!!!!
A couple of name ideas: Barely-cuda - 'nuff said 'bout that. But, given its heritage, I suggest it is a new species - a Wadi Cuda! Wadi Cuda - Sphyraena Desertum, commonly known as the Wadi Barracuda, is a species of barracuda that inhabits the desert washes of the Southwest United States. They have a misshapen body and are faded blue, mottled grey, dark rust and dirty brown in color, with protruding metal bits and containing many sharp, ancient or tentative parts of unequal size. Never found in schools (or workplaces or home driveways), they can be found in non-visible habitats such as behind scraggly groves of trees, wastelands, and abandoned barns. They can be considered dangerous predators in proximity, given that almost nothing takes them seriously, and can immobilize their prey, causing fits of uncontollable laughter and bouts of severe underestimation of capabilities. Somewhat unhealthy, given their tendency for non-stop smoking.
Even the ruff mopar's need love . The Ravine beater Cuda is what name comes to mind for it
that is beautiful !!! the car is lucky to have you buy it to make come back to life!!! thaks dylan.

Love your wife her personality I see why u chose her
Excellent video Dylan :) get tune up ready for next time and did okay 👌 👍 to! Also nickname for Rusty be nice name for it!
Great video glad you posted
The theme to this car comes from a country western song "What was I thinking", from your wife's expression, dumping the old gas tank, to the windshield. It looked like a lot of fun, glad you took us along.
As a 1959 model new, my body is starting to resemble this Barely-Cuda. I had a 1972 Barracuda I bought with 60 thousand miles in 1978, when I was 19 and for $1200. It was just starting to rust, with a 318 2-barrel and a 3 speed manual transmission. I sold it in 1980 to buy a motorcycle and a $200 car, so I could save on gas and insurance 6 months every year while going to college. The best part was the looks, after new paint and new carpet. The worst part was the front suspension, I think it needed a new front axle and wheel bearing since the one front wheel never balanced, and the torsion rods instead of springs was just dumb. It did cost less than a similar Camaro back then, likely more now.
I felt in love with the Coronet right next to the Cuda hahaha. Wish we have those kind of big cars in my country. Greetings from Brazil!
The wife commenting was flippin AWESOME!! She realllllly does love you!!! 😂 Like others have said...she needs to be on more videos!!
I think that I have the perfect name for that old fish , and I'll be heartbroken if it's already taken ; I've dubbed it - NOPAR ! 😉😁👍
I remember seeing this Cuda all the time IN Az back when it was in the Ravine @Dylan McCool
I know that look. My wife gives it to me quite often over the last 20 years when I have brought home rough stuff. Its the, sigh he’s excited again. Ephesians 5:22 again.
It was a pleasure seeing the misses for the 1st time.. You two had my ribs a busting..🤣🤣 The new ride is a coin toss lol.. Heads it becomes a Rambler.. Tails you buy all new body panels from the cheapest Re-Pop market on E-Bay.. Make it your new Budget Dumpster.. Keep up the great work there brother..👍👍
I enjoyed all the videos and cars a lot I follow you from Saudi Arabia keep up your creativity and discover beautiful car 💯👍
Wow...I've heard the term 'Drop the tank' before...but you literally dropped the tank, hope you weren't hurt!
Again this Barracuda video finds me here. There is something alluring about the car. It feels like it has a soul. If it could speak, it would.
Awesome video dude, yes more cuda content. But don’t forget about the Plymouth.
I think the challenger would greatly benefit from a Centerforce dual friction clutch. I have one in my truck and love it, also have a friend who had one in a 440 6pack roadrunner making approximately 500hp that he drag raced for years at Cecil County Maryland. He broke an 8 3/4 rear and destroyed a driveshaft but never had an issue with the clutch.
Good video Dylan!, Don’t forget that socket wrench by your right rear tail light
First time watching your video. I'm a Mopar guy from the 60's . It may be hard to believe but I just bought a 69 Corvair that was a behind the barn find , sat there for about 20 years has less paint on it than your Cuda, but the body is straight. The wife asked if it was green or gold , it was actually mold LOL. Look forward to more videos on the cuda.
It doesn't matter who or what, the main thing is you had an experience that not everybody can have. The burnout happened, but needed some more umph. I always like your videos and would like to see more of the cuda
Hey Dillion I know it’s gonna be a good video cause I seen u driving it at Holley moparty me and my wife talk to u and your family and you all are awesome keep up the good work my friend
*when that general lee hit the floor my very being shook*
your lady definitely loves ya buddy...you could see it in her face, the not wanting to be BRUTALLY HONEST, but also wanting to be supportive of your passion and the channel...polish a turd shirt idea is spot on... name for the car??.... The Tetanus Express"
The McCool Monster. Definitely want to see more content on this critter and what you want do to make it better
The cuda deserves to be brought back to its former glory. I mean not full-on Graveyard Carz style but it should at least look somewhat as good as it did in better times. We don't see many of these on the road today and I believe that it is a special car ! Cheers and great video as usual !
Great fun video. Love the new toy too! Question-did I see the Dodge Ambulance from the original Cannonball Run at your display??
Love it call it “Cudabeen”😂 keep up the great work! MOPAR!!
That thing is so beat is cool I like I'm amazed it ran at all you got to get to the drag strip
8:54 HEY, I know that Coronet! Glad he was able to get there! He's supposed to be driving it all the way back to California.
Definitely Dylan , you sure howled those tires, imagine what it will do with a new pump. I’m pumped to find out.
Always love watching your stuff when I got the time. 1972 Torino Sedan in the background when you picked up the Challenger. Such a bad ass car, that front end! Your wife was also very nice... My wife would just get pissed off, 100%. Best parts: balance... BALANCE... **BANG** glug glug glug (going to admit to it: I rewinded that a couple of times...) that's terrible... **sniffs it again** As far as a name for the Challenger? Guess "Washed Up" is the way to go. Since it was pulled out of a darn wash...
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! I LOVE MY MOPAR FAMILY!!!! SO MUCH FUN!!!! GREAT VIDEO AND THANKS FOR SHARING!!!
I think "Dumpster Fire" is perfect 😆
a new clutch in the Challenger for sure. I love that Cuda beat to heck and back and blue glad it's got a good home too :) not sure on names but desert fish
