Years ago i bought a e39 touring 525i for 6 hundread quid because it had a abs light on. I ended up buying a abs module off ebay from a 530i. I got told i had to programme it to the car on the forums. Didnt need to in the end. It was just plug and play and all my issues went anyway. Solved my speedo ..abs light. And auto gearbox wasnt getting confussed anymore. It was one of the best cars i ever owned and my first bmw. Loved it to bits
Absolutely zero risk on this car, engine and box go for £700 alone. Bargain of the century tbh you should see very nice profit from this as these usually go for £2500+.
Great upgrade,I’ve just got pre LCI 535D same colour stage 1,so I’m waiting on you now,love your work 👍
I have a Dark blue 2004 E60 530d . The only done ‘get Ready’ 4,000 miles. Especially rare find. Bought it off a widow, her husband bought it brand new and sadly passed away a year after. He left it in his Garage and His Wife would not drive it. All the time it was locked away and November 2022 she decided to let it go. I have had new battery and a full detail done on it. Looks amazing
Great purchase George, so satisfying knowing you’ll be putting time and effort into making this car the best it can be. This is exactly the content I started following you for 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Got one of these myself and what a car they are!! no swirl flaps.. but have a issue with a lifter tick!! Very annoying.
Awesome car mate. I got a lci 520d in blue with thr same alloys. I love e60 5er
try giving it a test on car vertical where you input the car registration number
Keep it going mate you have done amazing work of every car so this one should be just as good cant wait to see it finished 🎉🎉
Great to see another e60 on this channel George! The whole reason I subscribed in the first place! 👍 what a bargain! I’m starting work on my 530d soon so I’m sure this series will help! Good luck buddy!

For me Bmw best car in the world... Here,there and everywhere)))
Good luck! 👍🏻✌🏻🇬🇧
I bought an E46 330ci '04 a year ago to fix everything and sell, but it's such a great car and I've spent so much making it lovely I wouldn't make the money back, I have decided to just keep it, brilliant cars so easy to work on on the driveway! 👍 mines also just ticked over 100k, mystic blue with cream leather interior and the fine wood trim like yours. The interior looks like it's never been sat in, and it's a 2 owner car. Looking forward to your E60 content mate :)
Great project, looking forward to it👍

Looking forward to the new videos on this George 😎👍🏻
Love the m57 had a e93 325d and now a 635d, can wait to see what you do with this
There’s no swirl flaps on this model 525d(197hp) and 325d also and the 318d (122hp) 😅
Beautiful car, instantly fell in love. Just 2 weeks ago i sold my e61 530d, that hurt a little. But hey, cruisin a E65 now 👍
Nice to see another E60 on the channel, car looks like it could be easily sorted, mostly minor stuff. You’re right about tyres and wipers, as I look after my daily car, and have decent branded tyres, and Bosch wipers. I don’t see why anyone would skimp on these things, tyres are your only contact with the road, and wipers, well you need to see where you’re going don’t you, no point having crap streaky/noisy wipers😂 PS, looking at MOT history, you’ve got a(surprise surprise) oil leak to deal with. But it seems it’s had some electrical stuff replaced recently, coil spring and a fuel pump that was “faulty”. Hopefully it was replaced👍🏻
Nice car, a friend of mine had a pre-lci 525d with the 2.5 engine. It isn't anywhere near as good as the 3.0, as it was both slow and thirsty. The manual gearbox is definite plus point.

i bought a e61 wagon once. my favorite car i've ever owned. had sunroof drain problems and the spare tire well got wet. fried all the eletricals. was an ebay wizard buying and replacing modules lmao. loved that car but what a basket case n
Mine did the same failed to start and then out the blue it was all fine. Turned out to be the starter motor i swapped it out and worked perfectly
Well done mate, that E60 is worth a lot more than you paid. Great content and looking forward to seeing what you do with this and what errors comes up with scan

Hi mate, I’ve got a e70 x5 2009. Jumps out of gear randomly when driving. Ever seen this before?
I got the cheapest LCI e90 325i with an MOT...currently trying to find the cash for the injectors😂
Hiya George, cool purchase, wished you could have got 530i instead, but anyway its a lot of car in 600 quids. since you are running this as a project, I wonder what's your backup plan if you end up going over budget ending up in a bit of loss (though i wish not). reason i am asking as you would be hard pressed to demand any thing higher than the market value when selling this, and as you said its a risk not knowing how good/bad the state of the car is when you find out. so curios to know what your strategy would be if it turns out to be the case.

Great buy , only downside I can see is it being euro4 only
@GeorgeAusters
Жыл бұрын
Don’t see how that’s a downside? Less emission devices the better!
I would have hoped that you bought a Euro5 30d 2011 with automatic gearbox... 😉 A couple of months ago I bought an X3 F25 30d 190kW/258 hp 2011 (some changes later on this year) with 246,000 km, about 150,000 miles. I will do some maintenance on this... I have ordered parts for about 1,500 Euro+VAT... The EGR-system has been changed and cleaned at about 160,000 km/100,000 miles (recall). Now there is a new recall, EGR-cooler will be exchanged! George, do you think such an engine ever will last for 500,000 km/340,000 miles? Maybe, if you clean/wash(!) the EGR-system including the intake manifold and DPF every 130,000 km/80,000 miles. Right from the start. In the car mentioned above the engine oil has been changed at almost exactly every 30,000 km/18,000 miles... 🥺 How long will this car still last? Time will tell! So it will be a little bit interesting to see want you have to say about YOUR car and especially the ENGINE, even though there are significant differences between Euro4 and Euro5 diesel engines. In fact the differences are outside the engine "body"...
@piovo5222

I had a family friend with the same N57 reach 340k miles on his 730D now the car was exported to Europe and I believe closer to 360k. That's original chain, no internal mechanical work.
If car is well taken care of it has service records and good quality oil, parts etc used on it, but the tires kind of doesn't make sense to me because if someone uses it as a daily why would they spend over 1k on tires if you can get good ones for under 500. It would be different if it was like a sports car but this is just a regular sedan
@GeorgeAusters
Жыл бұрын
Never ever skimp on tyres.. they can be the difference between life and death👍🏻
Hi George, can you help. I have a 2016 520d with 32000 miles on the clock. Full service history in mint condition throughout. I have an annoying problem, occasionally the car develops a really deep bass exhaust note like a boy racer bucket exhaust. Reading the bimmer forums most people with the same issue, and there are quite a few, are saying it’s the DPF doing a regeneration, the noise is really annoying and it happens quite regularly and disappears as quickly as it arrives and the car sounds normal again. I would say this happens once or twice a week. Given the age of the car and the low mileage I am guessing that it has done a lot of short journeys in its life and this may be a contributing factor. It’s the B47 engine and this issue is quite well documented. BMW saying it’s DPF and perfectly normal, not what I would expect from a prestige brand. What are your thoughts ?
@robbieshaft

I get this very regularly too on my N47, the strange thing is the car feels considerably more powerful and faster than when it’s not in this mode
@patrick2504

@@robbieshaft I don’t get that, is yours always at very low revs when you just touch the throttle when you start to pull away? How often does your car do this?

@patrick2504

@@GeorgeAusters so normal then?
@robbieshaft
Жыл бұрын
@@patrick2504 no, mine it throughout the rev range, it drives a slight bit lumpy and exhaust much noisier, this happens maybe twice a week only on way home from work oddly, the car is noticeably producing more power and it’s nearly at same point of journey it happens. I have a big closed straight road and I always full throttle in 3rd and it’s very quick, after 15-20 minutes it just goes back to normal, loudness gone and engine power back to normal. I never knew what it was, I thought DPF but it’s odd that it’s more powerful in this mode
