But I usually feel like buying a vehicle every time I watch one of your videos…but I can’t!…because you turned me onto my Army Green Pro 4runner back in 2020…I love it…and it’ll last me probably 30 years, so now I’m stuck! lol Thanks Tim 👊🏻

I demoed a 2023 TRD SPORT PREMIUM for 48 hours and here was my experience: PROS: -insanely stable at fast speeds -very good power and handling for size -beautiful exterior -love the instant acceleration -not much gear hunting -softex looks good -obviously the amazing crash ratings IIHS -shifter fits hand perfect CONS: -rattling rear glass when down -crazy wind noise -rattling defrost fan -weird uneven gaps around body -uneven rubber trims -holes between fenders and headlights -dirt in the paint -no rubber gasket 3rd brake light. Just a huge gap. -cheap plastic interior -entire overhead console wobbles when pressing light buttons -LED lights are inefficient inside truck -door cards LOOK and feel cheap -AC vent bezels look and feel cheap. -parked it next to a used V8 tundra and gently tapped around each body and felt a clear difference. Feels cheap and hollow. -seats are too firm. - the grab handles are an UTTER fail. Tacoma way better. Knuckles hurt from tundra handles. -steering wheel is an awkward shape. It’s just awkward. The leather feels thin. -the key fob is so cheap it laughable. For a TUNDRA I should get a cooler fob that says tundra. -lastly, for a $60-65k sport premium loaded, I get these cheap ass Honda accord gauges. The Tacoma has beautiful 3D blue gauges with rocks AND mountains in the MID. I get a RAV4/Corolla MID with ZERO clue I just spent almost $70,000. Some nicely bezeled gauges with a digital design signifying I just got a highway worrier truck would be 100% necessary. I’m dumbfounded they even rolled it with these gauges and MID. Honestly I feel like the Tundra launch was disrupted by Covid and they rushed to slap it together to not make the mistake they did w the Supra. They wanted to enter the market while people were over spending on full size trucks. But slapping it together misses the mark and people notice. Nobody can pretend this new tundra doesn’t feel cheap. ESPECIALLY if they were ever exposed to the love and care that went into building those solid V8 tundras. Lmk if anyone agrees or disagrees. Our voices change the market!

Thanks for the video. I’ve been slamming Toyota for a while over some faults I had with my 22 tundra but after leaving for an f150 then a Silverado that both gave me mechanical issues I’m back in a 23 tundra now and it feels like home. I just want something dependable that’s gets me from point a to point b and the tundra did that flawlessly. It did have some aesthetic issues that needed/ need to be ironed out but it’s still a Toyota and I trust Toyota the most out of all the automakers for my truck needs. Ultimately I just want a vehicle that I just have to worry about oil changes and filling up with gas. Don’t need the other BS I’ve had to deal with from the ford or Chevy I had.

The gen 2 gave me much joy in driving my truck. I saw the new one recently and agreed with your take on many points here. They need to refresh that oversize front fascia or at least reduce the bottom part. • @cwqrpportable

Tim, at the 7:46 mark, you address the lack of tow hooks. While out shopping trucks earlier this year that is one thing I queried the Toyota dealer on the lack of tow hooks and he shrugged his shoulders and laughed it off. I need a truck (with a huge water pump in the box) for the pit that we can easily recover from a sharp angle at the pond. Most times even 4WD will not be enough to rescue the truck back up and it has to be towed. So my shopping list for Toyota is.......... design and install tow hooks for goodness sake, allow the hybrid powertrain in their lowest level truck so that professionals and contractors have access to the features they only need and once and for all address the rear bumper and access to the box. Once I see/hear that these items have been addressed I might be back to look at the Tundra again but until that time, the new Tundra is a 'swing and a miss' for this guy's needs.

I went and test drove a TRD Pro (in Terra) yesterday. After months of research, I was really excited to find one on a lot that I could see in the metal, and take for a drive. Aside of the all too common dealership BS, I left pretty underwhelmed with the truck. I didn't find the seats to be that comfortable, the quality of the camera views was poor and grainy, the AC was weak (98 degree in TX), the fake v8 noise was obnoxious. Lots to like still, but I'm going to look at something else, especially for the price.

I sold my 2019 Tacoma just a year ago. I loved the engine and exterior, however, the transmission hunted gears making the driving experience very annoying, the electronic option (ETC), made the driving a bit smoother. The seats and steering wheel were uncomfortable for long trips, leg room was poor. I happened to drive a Tundra TRD rental in Omaha last month and while the transmission was smooth and quiet and had adequate engine power the seats were exactly like the Tacoma, very uncomfortable. Aside from the new screen and a few other features the interior seemed old and outdated, in my opinion. I could not justify the cost to buy one. Yeah, the truck looks nice but I find it very uncomfortable for long rides. Instead, I opted for a Ram Big Horn 1500, North Edition. The price point was reasonable. 36k for a used truck with 34k/miles. Driving is smooth and comfortable. The trim and finish of the truck are outstanding with sufficient power for occasional towing. I take care of my vehicles and don't mind getting dirty to do all the hands-on maintenance. People will say RAM trucks are unreliable, however, having owned Toyotas, Fords, and GMC trucks I can say all brands have their own set of issues. I found RAM to be reliable so far and love the interior and exterior along with its powertrain. Good luck finding your truck!

Tow hooks are more than just a truck recovery device. As a farmer, I've used the front tow hooks on my Ram several times to pull stuck mowers and UTVs out of ditches and washouts, where I couldn't get backed into the location to pull from the rear. The lack of them on the Tundra just seems like an odd omission for a truck Toyota claims is for off-road use, and all other brands were able to solve the tow hook / air dam problem.

Personally, there's no excuse for Toyota to have so many misses on a completely new truck. Yes, I agree about the rear side window weather strip. Come on Toyota fix this!! And fix your seat issue that breaks the plastic just by getting in and out of the seat over time. Surely this can't be unsolvable rocket science that the round table discussion think tankers at Toyota headquarters can't solve.

The thing that bothers me most is the price that is being asked at the dealers. It's obscene in many cases. They just refuse to discount or if you are lucky, offer only a small discount. Personally, I like the 1794 for looks...but I don't need all the fancy electronics and such that go with it. All I need is the power seat and the improved sound system. The rest, including that oversized screen, they can keep. And... please remove that auto start-stop system altogether.

Respectfully, yes, it might very well be in your head, particularly if you spend any time on KZread. F150s are fantastic trucks. I own and lease them for business and personal use. I cannot afford down time with any vehicle and my F series trucks do not disappoint. IMHO, the new Tundra is a mess, in the styling department and in the fit and finish and material execution. A true Toyota lover will hang their hat on any perceived longevity they might expect. In the meantime though, it’s not a desirable truck, again IMHO.

Now if you don't have red, they aren't good enough either, who cares! I would prefer tow hooks but I'm sure that I could buy some for cheap. Its no deal breaker! If you level and put good steel bumpers on it the front looks good. I would want a steel bumper on the back that has a step in it too.

Also, your limited should have the anti-glare with the camera on the rearview just by flipping the middle handle down, and your back up camera has multiple views, and your 360 camera button changes depending if you are at low speeds for parking, rear view while driving, and 360 spin when still. But, you probably already knew all that.
