What are the odds of buying a TAG Heuer F1 literally a week before the KITH X TAG Heuer F1 re-issue?! I guess TAG was just in the air!
So... I bought my FIRST EVER TAG Heuer - and it's a watch I've wanted for SOOO LONG! A 1990s TAG Heuer F1. I remember being a kid and I loved these so much - I thought they were so cool, and cool people wore them. But what's the point of having good credit if you don't irresponsibly and impulsively buy the watches you always wanted hehe.
But here's EVERYTHING you need to know about the TAG Heuer F1 - the good, the bad and the ugly.

O-kay! In order of importance Britt: - I dig F1. Play on. - As I might have mentioned in a previous post, I actually *hated* the TAG Heuer F1 series when it came out (yeah, I'm old), but I've slowly warmed up to them over the years...not quite enough to grab one, but they're kinda cool now. - The examples you and hubby have are particularly cool. - They totally effed up with the whole Kith thing. Period.

The vintage F1s narrate stories of what might have been the golden era in motorsport, which is why I appreciate them. The heritage of the brand captivates me, and I would welcome more Formula One content on this channel, particularly that which is connected to TAG Heuer.

I'm 44 y/o this year, and when I was 9 or 10, I saw these F1s in person at a retail jeweler, and it led me to think that TAG was garbage. It was a plastic quartz watch in a time when Seiko was doing amazing things, and Citizen was breaking ground technologically with the Eco-Drive movement. I never took TAG seriously after that, and now that they've re-released them, I feel it is a huge set backwards for brand perception. I'm not sure how old Watch Papi is, but if he's my age, and his friends were after Air Kings and Explorers, those were some RICH little kids! :D

I had no idea who or what Kith was/is before these watches were released and after finding out, I'm even less inclined to buy one than I was before. They're the prime example of a fashion brand that will disappear as quickly as they arrived. Come on, Heuer. You can do better than that........

As for the re issue, so near to a hot but the price.. OMG what were they thinking. I also have the black And white version featured in this video. Honestly, TAG Heuer is at it's best when they do stuff a little outside the box, like the original F1. Gave them a unique identity and no doubt in my mind it was why they were so well known in the 1990s and early 2000s. Have the same black and white colour F1 shown in this vid, and I wear it every race weekend, even took it to the Silverstone GP back in 2021! (and go on, Lando!!!)

I bought a Tag F1 in 1990 in my first year out of University. I bought it in while in vacation in Florida. Mine was stainless steel with blue dial and I also bought a blue rubber bracelet to change the look from time to time. My memory is a bit blurry but I am sure i paid way more than $100 for it. Like way way more. This was my main watch for about 13 years and I still own it but don't wear it anymore. I will keep it forever. Hey Britt! I bought my F1 in 1991 just before I found out that we were going to have to have Daughter #1. I remember thinking then "I'll never be able to buy another nice watch...". I got the steel case and eggshell face with red and black straps at the same time and alternated them depending on how I was feeling. I carried on wearing it regularly until about 12 years back when we ran into some money problems. I had to sell some stuff including this watch and instantly regretted it. Flash forward about 5 years, things had got better but the F1 itch was bad and I kept missing the right auctions on eBay so thought I'd drop a line to the person who purchased my watch saying how much I missed it. Next day I got a message back saying "that was unexpected..!". Her husband had left the F1 in a drawer a couple of years earlier so she agreed to sell it back to me - couple of days later we were reunited! I still wear it and at the moment it comes a close second to my Speedy 39.

I always wanted to have 6000 series but my dad bought me 4000 series with gold band and I was in high school, imagine that LOL. Anyway, Tag F1 was the first watch that introduced me to Tag Heuer but I never had one. Instead, I bought S/EL auto chronograph with a blue dial and gave it to my best friend on his wedding. About ten years after that, I finally bought Tag 6000 chronograph with a blue dial (used, of course). For me Tag Heuer at 80s-90s was really special.

My favourite watch was Chronograph TAG Heuer 2000 Professional, in 1998 I was leaving in Stockholm doing my PhD at KTH (not KITH) and that watch with “2000” in the name was just a link to the coming year 2000.

Tag Heuer are good watches and a bargain on the used market. I recently picked up a beautiful boxed Kirium quartz chronograph from cash converters for £400. Swiss 90s cool for the price of an affordable Seiko. Doesn't get much better

I bought a late 90s TAG Heuer Professional 200m WK1110 Quartz in excellent condition last year for less than a third of the Kith’s price. The 37mm or 38mm case diameter is about the minimum limit for a dive watch I can use (late 40s eyesight). Remember, the thickness of the bezel will use up some of that case diameter: I can wear 34mm normal non dive watches.

I sold the luminous green dial version recently for $400 AUD having bought it in the UK for 195 GBP. I used it for three years and kept it in a box for twenty nine years and regrettably parted with it as I felt it would be too boyish to wear in my sixties, hopefully the new owner will use it and not keep it in a box.

I've always "just missed" the F1, we just never connected. When they first came out, they may seem inexpensive now, but in 80's money they were a bit spendy. Later I think they had a bit of a resurgence and I still felt like I just couldn't justify spending twice ss much as a Seiko. Later still. When I was hunting vintage watches I would occasionally run across them, but I was into mechanical watches by then and most pawn shops still treated them like gold and I wasn't going to spend that kinda coin for a quartz watch. And now? Still not buying quartz and they're still too expensive. If they went 38-39mm with an automatic movement for sub $650.? THEN I might jump in!?

I hope after the “Kith Heuer” hoopla dies down, TAG Heuer re-introduces them for $7-800. I think they’d sell a ton at that price! My favorite ‘90s watch would be my TAG Heuer 2000 auto…I bought it new in ‘04 right before they replaced it with the Aquaracer. It’s quintessential TAG Heuer from that era!

I actually never admired tag heuer BUT! this one is actually COOL! just so retroish and sporty!😅. Whenever I hear about tag heuer, I know that's a good and an expensive watch brand but not all of their watches are 💯 but That is an amazing watch, it looks like it's straight out of a star wars movie. Thanks for the amazing video WATCH GRINGA!

My favorite watches from this area are the original plastic Swatches. I think this TAG Heuer F1 are inspired by the Swatch Scuba 200. About the size, an original Swatch is 34 mm and wears phantastic.
