The Rockroosters with the leather welt and the Vibram soles are the best budget Moc Toe work boots IMHO. I usually get the 🇺🇸 made Carolina MocToe works boots at my local boot store for $165. I’m not sure how he prices them so low, but the boots are usually perfect. Once I did get a pair that had the speed hooks uneven from side to side other than that they are great.

Have you tried Rothco jungle boots? I know they are not moc toe but are $45, steel toe and are wide in the toe box and spike proof up to 350 pound of pressure. And are really high quality as they are the original jungle boot so are pretty much sold at cost I think.

I'm a big fan of Georgia boots, then went to the X Toe titanium Timberland work boots for comfort. Love those. But ended up doing the formula 1 paving job, and needed a wedge. So I bought the Timberland for 140 bucks, by being on 200°asphalt I needed a second set that I could switch out, so I bought the rock roosters with the vibram sole, they're very comfortable for the price range, but I don't think that's a real vibram sole, they kind of melted a little not that much but more so than my Timberlands. I used to be a Georgia boots only, but they started to hurt my feet within a couple weeks of wearing them? If anyone else has had this kind of situation let me know if they got better.

I wear soft toes, but I've worn the Rock Rooster AP611 for the past 2 years or so and they've mostly held up fine. The counter covers have worn away some and the counters inside are breaking down, but I paid $90 through walmart for them. Outsole barely has any wear on the corner where my heel hits when I walk. And their sizing is totally bad. I'm an 11.5 EE with the brannock. I wear a 12 in the moc toe ones, don't fit in the 11.5 at all, and I picked up some of their chelseas and the 12 is too long, but also tight enough around the ball of the foot that I'd never fit in the 11.5.

I had a similar experience, I wear a 10.5ee , their 10.5 I could barely get on , and I was swimming in the 11.5 they sent me. The 11s just got here today, hopefully they fit like a glove. The funny thing is the Trinidad moc toe fits great in a 10.5

You're not going to want to hear this, but older Rockroosters had their own outsoles, probably Chinese made, that looked exactly like the Vibram Cristy soles they're using now, and those old outsoles lasted twice as long as the Vibrams. This is a personal opinion, but I think the only reason they switched to Vibram was because boot snobs think Vibram is the best, but if you look at other companies that use wedge soles, many use soles that look like Vibram, but aren't, and they usually last a lot longer. Go look at the bottom of wedge boots from Georgia, Ariat, Redwing, Irish setter, Wolverine, etc., none of them are using Vibram and I think there's a reason for that.

Time will tell, i have had other vibram sole boots that lasted a long time, but they weren't wedge soles. My redwings walked the heel out on one side in a year (my fault i know) and they were their look a like vibrams so will be a good comparison

I have a pair of rock roosters from before they switched and the outsole had the foam with a rubber layer between the foam and the outside and the haven’t worn down to that ugly rounded look something like redwings or thoroughgoods get after a few months. I’ve had them for two years and am very very pleased with them still to this day. I think k the issue is these boots are now marketed towards hipsters that wear them for style and want “heritage”construction” because they need to make sure they last for years while they do their coding at their desk for six hours a day.

Rocky rooster should’ve kept the rubber liner that went between the foam and the ground mine are from then before they changed to vibrum because I hate the way the vibrums wear away so fast and get that ugly uneven rounded look the rubber that’s stuck to the foam keeps the comfort without wearing away in a matter of months. Had mine for almost three years now and still love them. Hipsters have ruined work boots because they want “heritage” construction but have no idea why just because they think they’re supposed to yet don’t know the meaning of an actual hard day of work.

During the lockdown I became unemployed and very poor, and had to buy the only workboots I could afford "Deep Sea" from China, so I could get another job. I bought two pair, since I always rotate my footwear. Less than $60 on Amazon. I’m cheap with a lot of things in life but work boots aren’t one of them. I would recommend using that 300 bucks and getting a pair of jk 300’s. All hand made more leather on one pair of the 300s then probably all 3 of them boots. You would also be supporting American economy not supporting Chinese slave labor. When the sole wears out send them back or to a cobbler and get resoled. If you look hard you can get actual thorogoods for a little over 200 bucks and they are actually made in USA not just sewing a little flag on them.

Im actually interested in some of JKs custom boots, but this video series focuses on dollar for value boots. I think that 300$ boots are unattainable for some people. I personally used to be one of them. I dont disagree that spending a little more may get something better and support the local economy in some way, but on the other hand, some people dont have a little more to spend.

It's better to buy a $300-$400 boot that will last your 5yrs or longer rather than keep buying cheap boots that get destroyed after 6 months. Just my thoughts.
