I bought a Nissan Armada brand new in 2005. Had it for 10 years and 150k. It crisscrossed the US as our travel vehicle during the kids travel ball days. Changed a fuel pump at one point, only issue we ever had. One of the best vehicles we’ve ever owned. Just didn’t need something that big after the kids were all out of college.

Trans and diff fluids are the first things I do on a new-to-me vehicle. They seem to always be the most neglected maintenance items.

My father had an 04 Nissan "Pathfinder" Armada LE TA60, same vehicle pretty much, just yours has the so-called luxury package. Reverse sensors, motorized trunk open/close, they later knocked out the Pathfinder name. He bought it in december of 2003 between two snow squalls. The reason he got it? the blizzard of 2003 at the beginning of the year in February. his souped up Dodge Durango couldn't keep up in 4WD hauling an entire family plus trailer of snowmobiles to and from the Catskills from NJ. What he really wanted was the snow capacity, but he bought it right in the middle of the two snow storms so he could go in and see for himself what the anti-skid stuff would do and he was so impressed he bought it on the spot plus trade in of his Durango. This body style between the Armada, Titan and others including the QX56 was made from 2003 until 2015. so depending on what model year you have, 2003 to 2013 should be your golden area year for parts if you need any. There was a refresh-facelift in 2008 a bit but it wasn't much, and so far as I know, many, MANY parts between the Armada, Titan (the pickup of the Armada) and QX56 all should interchange with each other. So far as I know, this should be good for up to 9000lbs of towing capacity, but MAKE SURE YOU PUT IT IN TOW MODE. this I can't stress enough. if you don't have a tow mode button, get it. the connector for it should still be behind the center dash cluster bottom left by your right leg.

12:17 disconnect the trans coolant lines, and pump out 3 quarts. Add three quarts . Shampoo-rinse-repeat. Until you go through 3 gallons. If you just drain and change the filter. There is fluid in the cooling circuit, valve body and torque converter. Terrific deal you got there.

I’m too cheap for that , I’m driving it right now and I’ll drive it until it stops lol

I use my 6 gallon Harbor Freight oil extractor to remove the transmission fluid from the pan before I drop it and what a clean difference that makes.

Wow $1000 is a deal. Looks like that was back in the summer as I know it’s been a mild winter in CT but not that mild. I grew up in Shelton and lived in Naugatuck. Currently in FL but moving back in the spring.

One major flaw on those 5.4 V8’s…. They don’t have exhaust manifolds they are molded into the heads… problem is the cats bolt on to the heads.. when the cats go bad, the little bits tend to get sucked into the combustion chambers at the end of the exhaust stroke before the valve closes and wrecks the cylinder… you can apparently buy a “filter” that goes between the cat and head to help prevent this.

very true, no helmet down a hill at 28 mph you start questioning how well you assembled that front wheel 😆

I bought one new in 2005. I still have it. Has 160k on it . The dash gauges had to be rebuilt. One thing that happens when the car gets older, is the cold start may have an open exhaust sound. After warm up the noise goes away. Sound caused by broken exhaust header bolts on the heads……

that gauge non sense is such BS, I have to say this interior quality is junk on this thing or Cujo was living in it.

14:46 exhaust inside broken loose or heat shield.? You changed the frequency by lowering or raising the RPM shifting it? Maybe.

I don't know how you find them, Here in the UK old cars prices have sky rocketed there isn't anything you can buy that runs for under £2500. I used to love buying the cheapies and running them into the ground .Not any more. Great vid thanks J

Dear @@Roger-hq1yt Yes, so it seems. Actually I trust any Japanese car more than any fancy overpriced English car (even if mostly German technology is used = VW/BMW). Nowadays unfortunately nearly all existing cars (since round about 1995) have a ton of electronics/computer stuff on board and a lot of plastic (even intake manifolds)! All that's what is causing more and more trouble. To have less costs because of better fuel efficiency doesn't help at all if you have to invest even more money in repairs etc.. Obviously some North American truck drivers go back to use old style trucks without computers because they are sick and tired of having breakdowns and that they aren't able to help themselves. Best regards, luck and health in particular.

Hey for a thousand dollars I'd say you're way ahead of the game, some basic maintenance and send the cluster to flagship one or if you're lucky clean up the connector and off to the races

Not anymore than the Nissan frontier truck I just picked up or my Tundra…maybe a little less around town but the 320 HP and near 400 lbs of torque make up for that 👍

Disregard if you know, but jump pack may have a small black button on the side of the plug that you have to push in so it'll jump a battery that's below 11v or so. Override deal

@@5150mxVW yeah, we're only allowed 250w motor and zero throttle. They're pedal assist only up to 15.5mph which is around 25kmh. So pointless really, or maybe I just want to go faster lol. Don't see the point in paying for an ebike if it can't keep up with traffic. Anyway I've got one on order so will see how it goes. I feel like they're going to take over tbh.

For a VW guy you sure are picking up a lot of Nissan vehicles! What's next? A 510?

Hmmm, dash lights off and on, low tire pressure and check engine light on, no tach and no oil change. Yeah, I'd drive it hundreds of miles and tow cars. What could go wrong, eh? A plus is the backup camera works so no worries Jason. A thousand bucks and you got a cruiser.

I got it last spring and since I driven that thing to the Canadian border to get the 62 Beetle, and on 7 other Vw rescues.... 2 family vacas, Josh to the Unadilla Mx national, and up see M1 in Nh....I did the front brakes yesterday and the back up camera is no longer working😆

Those jumper packs are too smart for there own good. If the car batt is 100% dead most go into fault and will not jump. There is a way to override on them, usually holding two buttons down for a few seconds or something. Look online for your model and I bet you’ll find the trick.

Beware, the 5.6 is notorious for burning through Catalytic converters $4K+ to replace and timing chain issues, 5K+ in repair costs. I have a 2013 QX56. It's a love/hate thing.

i think your 13' cost a tad more than my $1,000 dollar 2007 :). I've had it since last spring and taken it on 2 family vacas, rescued numerous cars with it, driven it to the Unadilla Mx national and all the way to Canada. So if it has an issue it doesn't owe me anything :)

@@5150mxVW Can't ask for more than that. I love my QX56, and I bought it used with 112K on it, but it did cost me 4K in the replacement of bad Cats. I didn't get OEM parts, but went aftermarket. I did learn about that issue with the 5.6 AFTER I had purchased the truck. Still love it, and I'll drive it till the wheels fall off of it.

And was a Florida vehicle with hundred and two thousand miles on the clock it has leather and all the goodies but just spotless no rust at all.And all the service records. Those are hard to find in the northeast.A friend of mine drove from Vermont all the way to Ohio to buy a 2002 truck with low miles rust free and well maintained for $16000.00 a new one was over 50000 crazy.

Around 17 minutes I'm sure your T shirt says "Ass Pro Shops". Maybe an ass to buy that with the optional on/off dash lights and electricity saving tacho ? Seriously, I hope it works for you, I suspect as a workhorse.

Haha, that was the first time I had a key in that thing . I went earlier with an air tank to fill the flat front tire . I didn’t have any pics either . The interior looks like Cujo lived in it for a while but for a grand I thought why not? It’s been a good trailer / rescue vehicle and we’ve taken it on a couple vacas 👍

true story .... I looked at her range rover and the story didn't quite add up when i ran the car fax. She. called me months later and was moving to Texas and had a QX56 to sell...asked if I was still looking for an Suv. i said yes and she told me to bring her 1,000 before she puts it on marketplace. I said ok and i'll come by and had to google what a QX56 even was haha. I drove it all over New England on various rescues and family trips . It would later go into limp mode due to a speed sensor , it happened mostly when towing . I recently sold it for like 1400 as i found another one for around 2500. These are VERY cheap everywhere ....2004-2007 models anyway

Probably could use a "flush", I take the return hose from my trans cooler/radiator off, turn vehicle on, let it pump 2-3 quarts, stop, refill said amount of atf, and then repeat.

That thing will NEVER go anywhere near 60 miles! Not even half of that, especially throttle only at 28mph. 5-8 miles TOPS. 99% of ebike numbers are just fantasy. Lowest setting of peddle assist topping out at 10-12mph might get you 1/2 of the claimed range.

@@5150mxVW Do you know what the watt hours of the battery is? Or, do you know the voltage and amperage rating? It looks to be no bigger than 350watt hours. Unfortunately, they ALL lie about the range. Technically, the range is unlimited because you can always just pedal.

The only thing that improve this abomination is fire 🔥 🤣

I guess im the only one that thinks $1k is too much for this.
