Awesome score. That Tiffany stamped dial is special. I been in vintage pieces for years. And that's a special buy. Those are the pieces that will be at auction houses commanding huge prices in the future.

Great video and thx for allowing us to have that inside look. Rolex GMT Coke would be a watch I’d consider via their CPO program… IF they stood behind them for 5 yrs and didn’t price outrageously.

By your logic - Rolexes last for decades I assume - they should just do it - they won’t have any problem (especially since they’re having their techs review/service every CPO watch). I’ll stick to new; if they’re going to continue to sell to people they know are flipping, there are plenty of other great options.

I think that It may be true that a real tropical dial would have been a watch with specific dial paint that turned brown weather the watch was kept in darkness in a safe forever, or a watch that was worn in the sun. Either way the dial paint oxidized into that beautiful brown tropical color from black.

A disgusting amount, like $20k at least added. It’s gross and so many of them are fake (Tiffany text added years later by some random bum) and there’s really no way to tell because Rolex didn’t even stamp them (Tiffany did).

I get the vintage thing. It is safer because the values have been stable for many years, auction houses are incentivized to prop them up, and they don’t make them anymore (supply is capped). However, some advice for Eric - focus on high level vintage watches over lines of text on a dial. A 30k explorer II 1665 will hold value better than a 10k watch with a stamp to make it 30k. Even though prices might be similar, a mil sub (or even a comex) holds much more intrinsic value and is much more unique than a Tiffany stamped mass produced watch.
