@@HeyImRancover when I recorded that portion of the video I had already downloaded the file manager from Play Store. Should have explained that. There was no file explorer available to open before then. I was just using clips I had already recorded on hand

​@@johnzoid74actually the 'disappearing fill manager' thing also happened with me a couple of times, whenever I install KitKat custom rom. Whenever I reset the phone it reappears.. but after some minutes it just vanishes again

I used my Lumia 830 until my the podcast, spotify, and youtube apps stopped working. The reality is Microsoft actually charged a fee for the os and had very demanding requirements for app developers. It was a great os but it’s late start and the relative ease of developing for android doomed it.

5:21 NEVER KEEP THE SIM ADAPTER IN THE PHONE! When you will eventually pull the adapter out of the phone, the hole in the SIM adapter will drag the pins and even rip them off entirely!

Going from windows phone to iPhone makes no sense. So did you replace all of your devices? You just wanted an iPhone bud.

if you want to install an apk on these old android phones, first enable unknown sources in the security settings, then turn on bluetooth and download a file manager apk to a newer phone, then send it via bluetooth to the old phone. as soon as the old phone received the file, you click on the file in the notification center, there will be an option to install or open

The HTC is probably IMEI blocked if it was lost/stolen

Note: When using these older phones, turn OFF WiFi. As it will hog all of your ram. Obviously, in some cases, you need WiFi, but if not, just leave it off.

The HTC likely cannot get service because it was not a 4G standalone device. Most US carriers retired 3G voice service needed to activate these phones on towers ~8 years ago.

For installing apks you can just enable developer options, usb debugging and install an apk from a computer using adb.

I paid 4$ for an S8+ in a flea market(with a broken display) and 1$ for a 1st gen iPad(which works perfectly). Please make a video where you go in a flea market!

Fun fact: this model came with a File Manager. Weirdly, it has the CyanegonMod file manager although not having CM or LineageOS installed. Ringtone thing: those ringtones,alarms,and notifications are stock android ones

Hey I've seen that exact windows device 10 years ago. It was in the rain in a puddle. Thought putting it in rice would make it work.

Holy shit I had the same experience on a similar htc Bought a htc wp8s on a flea market for a few bucks and It was passcode locked. I did reset the phone with the key combo, set it up inserted a sim aaaaaaaaand.... nothing. It didn't even recognize the sim. I guess It's some kind of htc problem? Because my lumia from the same year works just fine.

that’s super interesting.. maybe its been dropped and causing a faulty antenna? I know that this phone says it’s 4g but I’d assume it would connect because I can get my sim to make calls with other old devices Maybe same for yours no idea

That windows phone device... is so nostalgic, i do have a windows phone 7.8 device and it runs pretty well and jailbreaking it wasn't that hard i do have plenty of games for windows phones, oh yeah the phone name is Nokia lumia 800 i just wish microsoft didn't end the support for that beautiful os

@@johnzoid74 nope, no phones. I only bought a VCR and 3 1980s mickey mouse comics. That vcr came out only in italy and it's samsung, it costed 20€ and it works. Unfortunately there weren't that much tecnologic things but i really like that vcr.

Windows phone were good and ran smooth in time when Android struggled when a bunch notification showed windows ran smooth I have good memories when nokia x2 was my daily and the Clash of clans days( yes some windows phone did support Android apps)

if they were actively registered with the network, possibly. without being registered to the network this device is a decade old and chances are extremely low if any. If they WERE registered- the carrier would not disclose that information to a random person calling in. would need to be proper authority and it’s very unlikely any authority would give time to someone who bought a phone from a thrift store and wanted to return it a decade later.

Today is June 1 2024. 1 month left.

It's crazy how much has changed in the smartphone industry. Grew up with HTC,LG,Lumia and Sony phones around and now HTC.Lumia and LG are dead and Sony is probably not far away from that either. Now it's just Samsung and Apple agains chinese brands

For a 2010's thing that Windows Mobile looks pretty smoother and better than most Android 4 devices. (I didn't say Android is bad also I never thought Windows Phone.)
