I Bought A Neglected C6 Corvette to Turn Into a Racecar!

Wait, that’s not a Jeep?! I added a 2007 C6 corvette to the driveway!
I bought a C6 Corvette for a couple of different reasons….
I want to build a race car! A car I can modify however I want and take out to the drag strip. This 2007 C6 Corvette allows me to do that!! Lots of issues to work through on this car… from Engine to Drivetrain, I’m looking forward to doing it all.
I enjoyed the LS Swap on my Jeep Wrangler so much, I don’t want to stop working and learning on the LS platform. There is a lot of work to be done on this 6.0 LS2 Engine; tear down and rebuild, cam swap, add a turbo (or 2), the limit does not exist.
We were able to get the C6 at a really good price due to all of the issues with it. Knowing that the plan is to build it, means that a lot of the small issues weren’t really a worry for us.
This will not be a daily driver, so it is a perfect platform for the build. Sometimes it’s nice to start with a cheaper platform to build on, it takes away some of the stress of breaking or spending more money on a nice clean car. Luckily the car has a clean title, and doesn’t need a full rebuild. But there are quite a few mechanical things that need addressed before we can even take it out for a few pre build test passes at the drag strip.
Jeep content will not stop.. I actually have a handful of really big projects on the way! This build is just something to do for fun, and learn alot along the way.

Sweet. Get it home. Do some maintenance. Then hit the track to set your base line. Then start adding the fun stuff. Nice.

Awesome. Just don't get away from jeeps. Like some other channels. Some were jeep then turned into drifting and having others building their jeep instead of them. It may be a brite lite. Keepem coming

Much respect to Cassie and Ben for doing their own work unlike others that have their work done by someone else. I remember one dude said he didn't do his own work because he didn't have anyplace to do it, that has changed.

Ok I’m going to pause the video right here and have a word…I started following Ben when he got the Gladiator, he single handedly made me obsess at thought of getting one and I now own a JTR. Now over the last month or so I’ve been eyeing up C7 Vettes and the desire is getting real! The you post this…😣😬👍🇨🇦
I highly recommend trying seafoam its some good stuff.. dump about half the can in the engine and the rest in the tank.. drive it about 100 miles or so and at random get on it.. with that many miles on it if the oil wasn't change that often might have some crap in the lifter..

The service charging system culprit is most likely the voltage regulator attached behind the alternator. It still charges the battery fine, but just can’t measure the voltage right...probably reading it incorrectly at around 12 volts instead of around 13-14volts. Some brands just can’t handle high revs.

Great find! Tash and I want to get a c6 as well as something to tinker with in the Garage. The LJ is as built as I can make it with how without taking it off the road for a few months for the next project. So, a Vette is in the future.

Also mine had the same door issue when i got mine and all i had to do is take the actuator off and open it up and clean the contact pads with alcohol and dielectric grease.
I know the channel is for Jeeps and stuff but this project makes me happy :)

I think you need a Gorilla Glass windshield on your Jeep.
You should change the fluids/filters and take it to the strip to get a baseline performance level to compare back to. I think we have a new LS addict in our midst👍

I’m going back and forth on this!!! Do I change the filters, fluids, tires, brakes, fix the misfire & lifter tic and go get a baseline… or just go all in on the rebuild?!

@@JeepGearGadgets I would get the codes thrown fixed to put it into at least average road condition for a car with x amount of miles and the brakes......safety first👍.

The Fast and The Furious taught me that all you have to do is lengthen the injector pulse a millisecond and tune the NOS timer and you'll run 9s LOL.

That fuel gauge problem is a common problem with Corvettes. My C5 did it. It’s the passenger side saddle tank fuel sending unit. What happens is if it sits with less than half a tank that sending unit is dry and ends up ruining over time. Mine is a manual. So the tank could come out with out dropping the trans and rear diff. Was told they’d have to drop it all out with an auto. Difference in cost quoted to me was around $300 for manual and over a grand for auto. Mine was fixed years ago and is still good. Just don’t let it sit with less than half a tank.
I hate those speed dips because sometimes you can't see them in the rain 😂

Funny you guys mention a Ford, I don’t know if you guys have been following this but the Bronco launch has been an absolute nightmare. I can’t get mine because of a hard top shortage so I switched to a soft top but we just received an email that they are going to fulfill dealer orders before all reservation orders are fulfilled. I get the pandemic happened but if I see the same model and color I ordered on a dealer lot before I get my order that is for sale I’m going to cry.
FYI, in Texas, you have up to thirty days from sale to transfer the title and register the vehicle, so you were still legal when you made this video.

When you said “ sold under us” an Euro spec XR4TI memory popped up from when I was 18th. It was selling for 1,100, left 100 bucks took the sellers book with pictures and all the service logs since new to show my Girl Friend, came back with the rest of the money and he sold it, he said “ can I have the log book back? For me to have memories of the car” “sure” I said, went to GF car, got the log book, proceeded to rip it to pieces, got sodas from GF car, pour it on the pieces, stepped on the pieces and the I said “ there’s your log book”
