Hey everyone. I decided not to make any more videos on the legion 9i. It's too late in the year for this to come out and at this price. In almost every scenario I would say go with the legion 7 instead unless you're an ultra competitive esports gamer and will benefit from the higher frames with the overclicked 6400 mhz ram at lower resolutions. If the screen is important to you, that might be a consideration. But it's not $1000+ better. And there's still some benefits to not going with a mini led screen for some people. Let me know your feedback in the comments.

The flickering, the blooming, dirty screen effect, and sometimes inaccurate colors. In my opinion the benefits outweigh though.

@@consumertechwarehousehow did the 9i vs the duo 16 you used to have? I had the duo 16 and it looked great for 500 zones but it did have dsc. Too bad you did not do a full review on the 9i. It came out late in the year but there is lots of deals you can get on it. In Canada it’s much cheaper than the blade 16.

I'm actually thinking about deleting this post. Lol. It can be had for $3800 maxed out which is comparable to others. The screen is way better than the implementation on ROG mini led panels this year. They all use the same panel.

If you grade sRGB footage you will be fine. But if you’re grading 10 bit 422 footage there’s going to be details missing from the legion 7 screen. The legion 9 would be a lot better. But if you’re noticing that the screen is lacking, you can’t tweak it. The only thing though, the legion 9 is so much more expensive that it’s hard to recommend unless you really want the better screen.

@@consumertechwarehouse I understand. Yes I'm 90 percent grading and working with 10 bit 411 Intra footage. I was watching some videos about Adobe an Davinchi and in the software itself there are color tweaks one can do contingent on the power of the computer. I paid 1850 tax and shipping free, for the open box 7i at BH photo. I'd be looking with tax at around 3400 for the 9i with the 480 gpu. WOW. 1500 plus for a better screen. I think I'll just get one of the pro art 16" touch screen portables. They are only 800 dollars. Do you have any experience with the PRO art 16 pro. that is a beauty but in only comes with either the 4070 or the 3000 ada and they are only 8 gigs. I'm afraid they won't be powerful enought. What do you think?

I was just about to pull the trigger on the. 9i 4090 the other day. Lenovo was sold out so I was going to build one with the fastest ram and a 2 tb single ssd. Price was 5475 CAD with taxes. Later that day I came across a new in box 7i 4090 on marketplace. Long story short I got the 7i for 3100 cad all in. It’s working perfectly and I registered it with Lenovo with 13 months of warranty remaining. I love the 7I but I still with it had a mini led. The 7i was just too good of a deal to pass up. Just wondering what you think of the 7i vs the 9i since u had both. Thanks!

  • @consumertechwarehouse

I pinned a comment. There’s no way that the legion 9 is worth the price difference at $1k. Definitely not worth it at $5475 CAD vs. $3100. The screen is better but not there much better. For that price difference you can just buy a monitor or a 4k oled tv. lol. Also unless you get the faster ram and play at lower resolutions, the ram speed increase won’t matter. If the legion 9i came out at the beginning of the year I would say yeah! It’s a great laptop though but so is the legion 7

I take my computer with me to work so that’s why I’m sticking with the more portable size, if these two, which do you think you would be leaning towards for gaming and every day computer use. This is a tough one to answer. I've been getting a lot of questions on this too. I think I'll need to get in a blade 16 and do a comparison. Honestly you'll be happy with both. But as the days go by, the small trackpad is getting a bit annoying. The blade is better on many aspects. But the thermals are at the limit and the chasis gets way too hot to rest on your lap while doing anything intensive like gaming. But they'll both see e you well whichever you choose. If you ever end up doing a comparison between both of them, I’d be forever in your debt, lol. I’ve been dying to make a decision but man is it a hard one. I also have had ptm-7950 ready to re paste the cpu and gpu on the razer AND upsiren u6 thermal putty to re do the vapor chamber if I end up pulling the trigger on the razer but the legion 9i seems like it could honestly be the better option in which case I wouldn’t even need all that. Informative review . These look very cool. Ive had asus gaming laptops forever but bought a Legion 7i this week. Price was 3600 🇨🇦 with 34 ram , 2tb drives , 4080 card. Approx delivery 3.5 weeks from Lenovo. Seeing all the coil whine complaints plus not very happy with last asus so will try a new brand . Keep up the honest reviews

I ended getting one for about 3200 before tax after discounts and cash back bonuses(32gb 4090 version). I’m comfortable paying a premium with that price. Originally I had the 4080 7i pro with a massive discount from the labor day promotions but they changed my eta from 9/20 to 10/24 and I needed this for work. I was also having fomo about not coughing the extra for the 4090 and the screen being IPS when I’m currently using qdoled on my desktop. Hoping the water pump will also increase longevity for the unit. Unfortunate that it doesn’t kick in until after 84c but I can see the purpose to prevent premature failure. Assuming it would only get that hot as well once it gets dusty.

Depends on the game. Most support it in some way. Either fully, or they stretch the top and bottom, or you get black bars. If you care about that stuff, stick with 16:9. I do. When possible I prefer to play the game as intended. Unfortunately most laptops are ditching 16:9
