I Bought A KTM 300 2 Stroke to Practice Wheelies!

Ойын-сауық

I'm back again learning my dirt bike wheelies but this time it's on a KTM 300! As you all know these wheelie attempts usually end up in looping the bike and breaking plastics. The last time I tried wheelies in my backyard, I was on the 250 so hopefully the 300 will be easier but I really don't want to break this one! A huge thank you to everyone who watches and supports what I do. You guys mean the world to me and I can't thank you enough.

No broken fenders.. Looks like some wheelie progress to this dude!!!! A little front and or rear brake dab. when your weighting the suspension right before the clutch pop. is a game changer!

first off, try finding an uphill slope to practice on. much easier to learn while going uphill. Then start by popping it up and then "slamming" it down with the brake. protip is to drag the brake all the time, its probably not good for the brakes long term but when you are learning it is reducing yourisk of completely losing the brake. slamming it down and draging the brake will give u some sort of muscle memory connecting your head to your hands and foot. when u start getting a feeling that you have brake control u should try to do first gear sloooooow wheelies just trying to stay as close to the balance point as u can. still on a slope. this is the scariest step because it feels really wierd and scary to hit the balance point but u just have to push over that point and after that you just have to grind to control speed etc. then youre good to go. i've done this on bicycle, small moped, big moped and mx bike and it is the best method in my opinion. btw idk if u already do this but wear a backbrace because it gives u lots more confidence.

I actually enjoy these training videos Mr. Marvis. Bought the wheelie bar you used previously and it's on my 300xcw, works great to give that little bit of confidence. My advice is to keep using it brother, it really works. Don't get me wrong I still suck but just a little less so every day. Remember this is a confidence thing, I've seen you ride and you're plenty talented.

haha, loved the original wheelie series because i was doing the same thing. I can say that the bike is better than you had on the first videos but, the rider is pretty much the same😂😂. What i like to do on slow wheelies is hit the front brake to compress the forks and on the upstroke do the clutch and gas. But honestly on a 450, you really don't have to try very hard. Good luck bud and see ya on the next one.

What really helped me, and how I would recommend you learn wheelies is by doing the following: So I did a lot of mental preparing before actually doing balance point wheelies. The whole time, while I was going about my day, I was contently imagining myself pressing the back brake in a wheelie. When I say that I mean every ten minutes, I thought of it, for about 2 months. I really didn't want to loop my bike cause it has a number plate and just a bunch of stuff that's going to break if I looped it. So I really prepared myself properly. (I learned on a Honda XR125, a bike with 11hp that weighs 25kg more than most dirtbikes) And then I started to go towards the balance point, and just started using that back brake, like I trained for years. So that mental training really helped. Obviously with the XR being a very very hard bike to get up into a wheelie, a very hard part with it was first learning to get the front wheel up. But of course with a bike like yours with more than enough power, getting the wheel up isn't the problem. Then from there I just practiced. First just in first gear, cause it couldn't pic up in any higher gear, then learning to switch to second while wheeling, and then I got a Yamaha DT175. A very similar looking bike, but tonnes better, with more HP and only 107kg. That is about what a modern enduro bike weighs. And then I realized what I was missing out on. I instantly started learning circle wheelies, because the DT did it sooo effortlessly. The XR just wanted to go straight. It took me like 3 days to get used to the more power, now 17,5hp, and then I was doing wheelies up to like 3rd 4th gear. The XR really thought me the technique because it is such a s*hit off road bike. Now I can do circle wheelies, pivot turns, wheelies to like 4th gear and about 85kmph. So I would really recommend you prepare and train yourself mentally. Then you can learn wheelies without ever crashing, if you're very carful of course and take it slow. Until this day I only looped out once, and that was when I got so slow in the wheelie, that I pressed the brake, but it wasn't enough. So I slid off the seat and stood behind the bike with my hands on the bars. Then letting the front wheel drop down to one side, never falling over. So my bike didn't even get hurt.

There’s a really great video by a guy called corkycanstunt. He breaks it all down into 8 steps. Some of them may seem a bit trivial and boring but they really help with teaching you the muscle memory you need to get used to the back break control. You’ll probably never loop the bike again if you learn it in the right order. How I learnt to wheelie my supermoto not looped it yet. Loving the content! Keep it up. It’s making me really want to start riding enduro!! Looks like such a laugh.

If you've got access to a light sports quad, learn on that first - you'll be able to loop it out slowly and it'll just sit on the tail, kick it over and try again, and again, and again. You'll be learning just the one axis (throttle/brake) instead of both balance points (throttle/brake & left/right), learning incrementally helps with confidence, learning consistently helps with progression.

Great videos buddy as always my advice would be try and let the bike come up to you rather than trying to pull on the bars and with one leg down try and allow your foot to slide across the ground rather than try and run with the bike in the air it feels weird to start with but you will gradually put less pressure on the foot that is on the ground being able to skim across then you will be able to lift your leg as you get used to it with practice and then keep your foot on the pegs hope this helps
