Boston lps are very common, several radio hits by any band creates album sales like crazy, there's really good classic rock bands back then that never had a radio hit. Wishbone Ash is an example, they put out great music especially an LP called "Argus".
I wanna meet these people who “need to get rid of” their collections. 😅😂 sweet vid!

@Milk mans Chum I’m putting some of my very rare elvis stuff at auction in September
My eldest brother collected vinyl. These would have been first releases, as he grew up through the mid sixties, 70's and somewhat early 80's. Avid guitarist, drummer and collector of around 800 vinyl records. Wall to wall. About two years ago I asked him if he still had them. "No, I dumped them in a skip when we were clearing out. I stream music now and other stuff I have on CD, they were just taking up space." I was beyond pissed. All it would have took was an email "Hey, do you want this stuff?"

I had a similar experience in 1998. I had a neighbor with a large collection from the 70's and 80's that I always admired. One day I mentioned the collection and a neighbor told me that our neighbor had dumped it just a day or two before to make room for the new baby. I would have paid her for the collection and saved her from having to pay to have it hauled to the dump.

Man, this brought back memories of my old record collections from the 60s and 70s. The problem is where do you keep them all. But you don't get the same feel when you purchase a CD as vs an LP. You study the big jacket and cover and sometimes there's a lyrics sheet in the record. You just can't do that with a CD the same way. Also, when you were buying albums you got to hear a whole lot of different songs done by the group to get a better idea of where they were coming from. Not just buying the hits one by one.

Always fun picking up big collection. Congrats my friend!
Thanks. This was a lot of FUN! Garage sales, estate sales, etc. - I always look for and through the records. I've done this since I remember being old enough to be turned loose in department stores, shopping centers (later known as malls) and the like. My parents always knew where to find me and now, decades later, my wife always knows where to find me. Even when I wasn't buying I was happy just to be looking at and reading album covers (that practice did not transfer to CDs by the way). I fondly remember some great purchases as well as being given record collections by people who didn't want to throw theirs out and thought of me (nothing that ever approached 3,000 at one pop- or "rock") Thanks again, this was a very nice surprise on a cold snowy day in northeast Kansas!

I do have a nice original copy of “Some Girls” and a copy of “Goats Head Soup” in great condition I bought at an old record store for a couple bucks back in like 2007. The orinal bill of sale from a local stereo store (Leo’s Stereo, long out of business) was in the sleeve and the original owner bought a couple good titles. I think he paid more than I did for it.
Wow! Nice haul.
Dude !!! The "SMITHSONIAN " doesn't have a record collection like that. Awesome haul of great rock & new wave, ... Kudos to ya !!!

I'm a vinyl aficionado that enjoys vinyl! I have more than 300! I have a collection that spans from the 1950's-mid 1990's! Pop, RNB, jazz, smooth jazz, country, holiday, rock, adult contemporary, big band/swing, singers/standards, I have my own gramophone, my significant other has one too. I've listened to them myself for over more than 30 years!
Hey Brother, Awesome Collection, Good Job on finding those and getting a great deal. I wanted to make comment, you passed a Motley Crue Album, that was the Too fat For Love LP, Do me a favor and look and see what label it's on. If it's on Leathur Records then you have yourself a 200 plus dollar album. That was the original label they were on before signing to Elektra. The Leathur Crue albums are limited press. From the looks of the radio station label, that might be one of the original pressings.

This mirrors my experience. I bought a huge 2500 record collection from an estate sale in Connecticut. I live in Canada and it took me over a year to bring them back, from my friend’s basement. All of the records were European classical music and all of them in pristine condition. The owner had a great system and really cared for his gear. I haven’t had a chance to hear any more than 50 of the records (no matter how pristine they are, I only play them after they have been through the Okki Nokki treatment!)
3 Pink Floyd Albums and hes like "yea, some more essentials here" Oh yea XD he got it right
I would love to come across a collection like this and just spend a week going through it all.

Amazing stuff! As soon as you said 80s metal I was hoping to see a Danzig album lol. Looks like everything was well kept and some double copies. Looks like a profit for sure! Best wishes!
That's a great collection. the condition is the rarity on most of these, I enjoyed watching the video! When pulling a record out of the sleeve, the best method open, reach inside the inner and place your two middle fingers on the label, tilt the sleeve UP (gravity assist) and the record "falls" on your thumb and fleshy base of the thumb...... no need to pinch the edge to pull it out, and this also causes the sleeve to stick to the record and causes surface scuffs. (they're inaudible but why make them?) This method I've shared needs just a few practices with a beat up record. Once you've got it. you'll never drop a record, never scuff the surface, and never leave a fingerprint! congrats brother!

I am always amazed by the event that someone back in the day goes out to a record store. And buy a record and bring it home. Without playing it. And it's still unplayed. Feels that record's was to cheep in the US those days?
Interesting that you flicked past a lot of the classic British Rock n metal and the Southern Rock stuff that would be essential in any collection I might want. And you hovered spent a lot of time talking about stuff and referencing much that wouldn't be bothered about at all. So makes me think that once you've taken what you consider the cream out, there would be still a lot of really great vinyl left in there. I dare say what we each would consider good or lame, would be somewhat different.
WOW! Really nice finds man.
Whoa! You got your workout this week. Interesting collection because it looks like that guy bought a lot of records multiple times. Hipsters have destroyed records. It used to be something everybody could enjoy, now they have driven the prices of used lp's up so outrageously high because of their bullshit. It's scary what a short time frame they did it in too. I have two mono copies of the door's self titled debut album in excellent condition, I bought one in 2007 for $10 and and the other in 2010 for $8.50. These days you aren't going to find a copy in mono for less than $200. Once record store owners realized that hipsters will pay outrageous prices in order to turn record collecting from a hobby into an exclusive club, it was coast to coast. Sad state of affairs.

I use to go to used record shops as a kind of therapy . Flipping through the selection looking for a gem . Always calmed me down
I used to buy collections myself around about 2005 on ebay. Everybody was offloading their vinyls on ebay. Got some really good collections. It was a real buzz. Then after a few years it got harder to find good stuff. People got wise and vinyl has rebounded. This lot will keep you busy:)
What a great collection you scored there! Hate to hear you had to pack it down three flights of stairs. My back is hurting just thinking about it. LOL great stuff. Thanks for sharing! Billy-

Wow that's some pretty impressive stuff. It just shows me that my record collection still needs a lot more work

Geezz...amazing collection. Original Halloween soundtrack...damn!...cant wait to travel to your store!
I had a friend who got back into collecting vinyl, hitting up the few actual retail shops still operating, garage sales and Goodwill. He found some interesting things. One of the shops would just sell a box of about a dozen albums, sight unseen, for, a dollar or something. In one of these was an unlabeled LP in a plain white cover. He put it on and through the speakers comes the unmistakeable voice of Ethel Merman blasting through disco versions of signature songs like "Everything's Coming Up Roses" and "There's No Business Like Show Business"...Turned out to be a test pressing of "The Ethel Merman Disco Album", which apparently was released in 1979 and became something of a collector's item. I don't know if he ever found out if it was worth anything.
Tons of great records in that collection, I dream of buying collections like that for my shop.
