I BOUGHT A Geo Metro For $300 And FIXED It In ONE DAY
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Not only did I buy a Geo Metro, I bought the rare XFi trim with the best fuel mileage. It was rated the Most Fuel Efficient Vehicle In America for it's entire production run. This Geo Metro was $300 as the owner said it was broken but Tyler had no issues driving it to my house. Once we got it home I cleaned it up with Gabe, then we fixed in a few minutes and went out to get 1/4 mile times from it. It only cost $50 to fix, and only takes 17 seconds to do 60mph. At least it was easy to sell, I posted it and it was paid for in less than 10 minutes.

I had one of these I paid 500.00 for, it had 62,000 miles on it and belonged to a Nursing home. I was going to work one morning and a guy ran a red light and swiped the front end, I got 1400.00 from his insurance and fixed it myself for 300.00, next a lady backed into me at Walmart and caved in the passenger door, 650.00 for that and I repaired it for 75.00 with a door that was the same color. Then about a year later my neighbors tree fell on the roof and the insurance totalled it @ 2400,00, I sold it to another neighbors kid for the engine and transmission for 500.00 so I managed to make about 3700.00 off that little car and drove it for 3 years !!!

Oh man, my first brand new car was a 2 door hatchback Geo Metro LSi (it was all white, including bumpers)! I absolutely loved that thing! I had it for 12 years before some (redacted) in a jacked up 4x4 literally ran over it. The cost to fix the crushed side panels and doors was more than book value, so the insurance company totaled it. For such a small, under-powered vehicle, it was super reliable, comfortable to drive, and with the back seats folded down, held a surprising amount of stuff! For a girl right out of high school, the Geo Metro was affordable enough to buy, insure, and keep gassed on a minimum wage job. I miss that little thing...

I’ve been dying to get me a metro. I fell absolutely in love with them a couple of years ago when I saw a beautiful bright blue one around my house for 2k for sale on the side of the road. First time I had ever seen one before, and I was ready to take all the money out of the account my mom had made for me just to buy it. I was about 18 at the time and my mom didn’t was like “All you’re gonna do is drive it around to see your friends” AS IF THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN A BAD THING!!!! 😤😩😬 I never got it and I regret it to this day
I owned a 90 Metro. Delivered pizzas in it all through high school. Met my wife of 27 years in it, too! And make no mistake, they were quite peppy. It had 239k on the odometer when I sold it to my neighbor and he is still driving it. I was a fanatic about preventative maintenance and it paid off with being very reliable. 3 timing belts, spark plugs a few times and several brake jobs, tires and shocks. No major failures. If I could buy a brand new one today I would. Averaged 45 mpg with the 5 speed. I told everybody its 4 tires and a steering wheel and nothing more.
My dad used to have one of these. Being a kid, it felt awesome to "launch" it on the green light. Turn the ac on full blast, start to go, and then immediately shut the ac off and it was like a turbo boost lol He sold it to the mailman for $500
I cannot believe someone sold you this car for $300!!! I could give you a list of people that would have paid $3-5K depending on condition. I have 2 Metros myself, but not the XFI. This is a rare gem and I would love to get my hands on it! I use it as a commuter car to and from work. Saves me thousands on gas/year...

This is very similar to my Geo Metro story. I bought a 1991 Geo Metro XFi back in 2003 for $300 in Sunland, CA. The seller told me the clutch was bad and for the price I took his word for it. Turns out he was correct. It only cost me $250 to fix it. I daily drove it for a few months then randomly had the idea to convert it into a pickup truck. I had zero experience with such a task, but figured with such a minimal investment this was the perfect car to experiment with. Things turned out better than I expected. I lined the bed with blue astro turf, put a system in it, racing stripes, then I threw it on eBay and it sold for $2000!
At one time we had 3 of them. I absolutely LOVE them. They are so much fun to drive. They are good on gas and the tires are cheap.
Funny thing that you mentioned the harder to find Geo Storm, the “GSI” model. I owned one a couple years ago, it was a 1992 model in the exact same turquoise/greenish color your metro is. I had to get rid of it due to mechanical issues and lack of space, but when it ran, it would rip around town. So much fun and I miss it a lot. Love the content as always JR 💪🏻

I had that EXACT car like 15 years ago! I loved it to death. You see that rust on the front fenders? I can almost guarantee that the "frame horns" are rotten. It's very typical on these and can be deadly. The wingnut on the air-cleaner is factory, the oil in the air intake is from a clogged PCV valve they ALL do that (mine did). Okay, so my Mom had an old wrecked red Geo when I was growing up. I hated it. I used to make her drop me off a block and a half from the school so no one would see me. 😂 It too was missing the door handle on the drivers side. We eventually had to take the door panel of so that we could we could just pull the wire to open the door. It was missing the passenger side mirror. The trunk struts were replaced with a 2x4 and if you had it propped open and someone slammed one of the other doors then you had a minor concussion. The seat covers were old sweatshirts The windshield wiper handle was a screwdriver that was glued it. Man, bring back all the memories with this one. 😂 All in all I do kinda miss that car. 52mpg was pretty nice. It was also the first car i ever drove. Now I refuse to own a car that is not a manual.

Ford Festiva's are awesome cars. I bought a brand new 1993 Festiva.I had it for 19 years before trading it in on a Nissan. I still kick myself in the ass for getting rid of it. People would leave notes on the windshield all the time wanting to buy it during the time that I owned it. I still see it from time to time driving around. So it's still on the road all these years later.
I own a red 1997 Metro. It maybe slow but it has kept me from getting speeding tickets and I love the gas mileage. Paint job is fading bad and the interior is all coming apart but I wouldn't trade it for anything.
I actually want that car. Been looking for one for nostalgic reasons.

@@kennythemeat - Basically... Trim differences, and I believe the Swift sold here was only in the 4-cyl version. In Canada, it was the Pontiac Firefly - also 3cyl, but THEY got a turbo option (like the previous gen. Chevy Sprint Turbo). Interesting(?) article for those of us who like those: "For $3,700, This Pontiac Is Pretty Fly" jalopnik.com/for-3-700-this-pontiac-is-pretty-fly-1584458033

New cap and rotor would probably be a good plan as well. Great fun!
I had a 90 metro XFI ... the 5-speed transmission went out when it was about 10 years old from the time it drove into the garage -> to the time it drove out with a different transmission was a little over an hour - by myself with only a floor jack and hand tools it was the easiest vehicle I've ever worked on I'd still drive one of these
Your KZread chanel is my morning routine!
Love these basic little cars. My bro had a Suzuki Swift and it was actually pretty peppy with the 4banger. The rag to open the door is pretty hilarious!👍😂
I had a 1990 Geo Metro 2door 3 cylinder 3 speed automatic. I loved it. Perfect for a student at University of Texas in Austin. Very cold AC!!

@woof817

@@elcheekoful It was on mine. I also changed out the square headlights that came on the Geo Metro for the Suzuki Swift Headlights witch were more stylized. They are a exact swap in every way down to the wiring harness, power conectors and all etc…. of the square HL and it’s black frame with the Suzuki Swift’s sculpted form fitting HL.
You think its OLD, search "Suzuki Cultus" 2000 - 2017..It just discontinued in Pakistan's Market 3 years back.
I didn’t think you were supposed to spray the engine with water at the car wash 😳

Right. It could crack a hot exhaust manifold as the metal would unevenly contract when cooling. They grounded out the plug wires and got the distributer cap wet, so it would not start until they dried all that out. Interesting that they sold it on without repairing the exhaust leak. Not cool.
Love that car for its simple engineering and stubborn keep going attitude. Gotta love a beater
That was so much fun to watch....THANKS!!
Your enthusiasm makes me wanna be a car enthusiast myself man, great job!
Imagine showing up to a car meet with this Geo lol
Such funny cars - also known as the Suzuki Swift here in the UK. Love the flip dude lmao
Hey man, just found your site here on youtube. Cool site, I like fixing up cars and you learn a lot about what you can and can't do. The Metro was hilarious...btw, loved the shifter. LOL. Thanks for the site and keep flippin' cars.
I have a 91 firefly and it has the same engine so thanks for the tips I haven't really worked on it but now I know what to look for
Totally do a full restore, that would be hilarious!

I bought one for $300 once! Got 8 months out of it, and scrapped it for $150 😂 I miss it.
Man just stumbled on your videos, I love it man! Keep up the good work! Subbed :)
I had an 88 ford festiva. Similiar. Got 50 mpg all day long with a 1.3 liter 4 cylinder. Everyone made fun of it but it never broke and just ran and ran and ran

Man i had one of those in high school and college and loved it! It came to it's demise when some dude crashed into it going through a parking lot. Died with 135,000 miles on it.
Great to see old geo being fixed up and put to good use! I haven't seen another geo metro in my area in serveral years. These cars are so easy to maintain and repair. I can replace oil and oil filter in 5 minutes without jacking up car! It's shame to see them go to junkyard crushers.
holy shit. years ago you and i had talked about doing a collaboration video back when we were both motorcycle channels. both of us were getting maybe a hundred views per video if we were lucky. it never happened and i gave up because i couldnt make the content. glad to see you got success. happy for you.

I want one cause of the insane MPGs these get! when gas price was almost at $5 a gallon these were everywhere! course if this has all red in the back I'd get the tail lights with the amber turn signal!
My dad had one of those; I cleaned it for him by opening all doors and power washed everything followed by a leaf blower at 113’f outside temp. I was impressed at how well it drove. I confess to driving him a little nuts by putting in two gallons of gas and then asking about his mpg. Did that more than once.
My first car was a 1993 4dr Metro of the same color. I nicknamed it "MacGuyver" due to the excessive amount duct tape, shoe string and garbage tags holding parts of the frame together. In '96 I was pulled over on the Jersey Turnpike for allegedly going 78 in a 65. My response was that his speed gun needs to be calibrated because the three hamsters running the engine could never create that much power. Lot.of great memories from that car though. Thanks for sharing!
"Low Noise" tires. That's good to know. And that's been broken into a few times, if that driver door seal is any indicator.
Looks like something my dad would drive! Oh wait he already does!
My first car was a 1993 Geo Metro. 1.0L, 3sp Auto. I could fill it up for $10 and drive nearly 500 miles. I always wanted one in a manual just to have as a city runner.

David in Barstow Remember what you paid for it new? I’m just curious.
Had one with hail damage, bought one year old for 1500, that car was indestructible, best snow going car ever had , those skinny tires always made sure i made it home even went the city shut down. Never broke down all i replaces was a battery. Put 250,000 miles sold it to someone knew, she put another 300,000 and sold it. Still running good. Miss my red golf ball.
I had a Suzuki Swift 1993 and I remember I had to buy the 2nd passenger Mirror. Before selling it I actually washed all the interior in the washing machine. Took all the cloth seat covers off with the floor carpet and washed it twice in a commercial washing machine... car never looked so good lol
When gas was $4 a gallon, these were selling on ebay for $7k
All those old car’s smell the same a combo of cigarettes, beer and BO! Doesn’t mater which make, model or year !🤮

Damn a blast from the past. I had a 1993 Geo Metro same car as yours only in white, as well as a 1991 Pontiac Firefly (Same car, Geo Metro in Canada). Fantastic commuter cars
I have owned 5 metros. 1992 Convertible stick, 1996 4 door automatic; 1998 Suzuki Swift 2 door stick; 2000 4 door automatic; 1993 XFI 2 door no air;
I love geo's. The nostalgia
