So excited for this series. I discovered this channel with the 996 and loved it. The 997 is awesome and that spec is just about perfect.

Wow. Big job. Much bigger than the 996. Getting the frame straight is step one. Then welding on the body panels. Once you get past that then it’s the 996 project. But steps one a two are big steps. Should be interesting.

Definitely get it repaired/ aligned with a factory deck lid, even it its a carerra one.

Can’t wait to see this all unfold! Pretty sure the whole back end will polish out with some window cleaner!!

I think the deck lid for the turbo which gives it a gt3 touring look. Def not the big wing. Standard wheels as well

Yes 997 the sweet spot of all 911! It's a mess but I LOVE the red Taracotta color. I also love the fact that you are going to bring it back to its original glory. Please get rid of that ugly roll bar. You did a phenomenal job on the 996 Turbo and looking forward to this 997 Turbo build!

Matt. There is a company in Maryland not to far from York that does LS swaps to the 996. IMO. I would go with a Lt graphite black or dark pewter metallic paint. It would look perfect with the color of interior. B be elieve it or not a a sage would be unbelievable too. Ex painter and body man here. Lol 😂

Ok I’m so glad that you’re restoring the car back to stock HOWEVER please resist putting that ridiculous looking boy racer wing on it. Sell it to someone that is racing and needs it and recoup more funds for the project. See how cheaply you can complete this build. Looking forward to seeing this build.

Surprised to see Bob Woodman deliver the car! He ran a Porsche repair shop for years in Beaufort, SC. Although he probably wasn't the owner, it is somewhat surprising he or Andrew didn't do the repairs and sell for the owner. Hopefully that doesn't mean there is more damage than it looks. Good luck with the repair. I'm subscribed!

@@matt13ross my take on car condition is that if the owner felt the car was not in good shape to rebuild, then he wouldn’t of troubled with all the replacement parts and the costs associated with it. It is a big time consuming project.

Hey Mat, the absolute perfect next project

How exciting! Looking forward to see how the rebuild comes along. If you plan on repainting the car, especially the roof, make sure the rear window and front windshield is not replaced before hand.

Wow, this will make for some great content and more vicarious living for me. My first take would be to make it a track capable street machine and maximize selling off the extra parts to recoup costs. For example, keeping the track seats and selling the hardback sports, etc. IOW, just get it running, street legal and presentable but not to the level of your 996tt. Minimize the the gap between what you spend and what it will be worth.

Oh wow. Did not see that coming!!! Awesome. I follow you, mat armstrong, scrap life garage.. that all do porsche rebuilds. So pumped for you.
