I bought a Seiko 5 here in China. It looked super real and felt like good quality. After a month of use I checked the writings on the watch with a macro lense. I noticed a typo on the word "crystal". Then noticed that the front and back of the watch indicated different informations. Your video finished to convinced me that my watch was fake when I checked the "warranty". I paid over a hundred dollars for it and didn't suspect a thing as it was my first watch...

My wife paid 60 bucks for a Seiko Frankenwatch with a 6349 movement. It has a real nice textured green dial, high polished bezel and dive watch hands. I love the thing and wear it all the time.

My original Breitling watch broke, and I bought chinese Seiko couple years ago, and it works and looks better than my previous watch...

Most of the time, the quality of the material used in the fake movement is not that bad, and most of the time the actual design of the movement is the one to blame if the movement broke so as long as those movement is "well-engineered" any "manufacturer" can make it with roughly the same features and tolerances and have it working as well as the original movement

Don't forget that another give away is that the dial in Seiko watches are very bright after passing them through a light. Seikos are known for their watch illumination which is one of if not the best in the world when it comes to their "lume".

Having recently received a rather bad quality fake Seiko SKX, this is really a better quality fake. Great video

This is an excellent video. I purchased a fake Seiko watch also, but I knew before buying it from Wish that it was fake. It was only $27.00, so I knew it was too good to be true. But it's a good imitation, so I am happy with it.

There is a chance that the calibre (movement) is still SEIKO as SEIKO sells generic versions of their calibres such as the NH35A (an unbranded version of Seiko's 4R35 calibre) to other manufacturers and watchmakers in general. Usually the weight is painted yellow to show that it is the unbranded Seiko movement. Technically, the unbranded movement is a slightly improved and updated version of the Seiko calibre it is based on. Sure there are the Chinese Seagull movements and the Japanese Miyota movements that are also popular with replica manufacturers but the price of the Seiko unbranded movements is comparable. The issue with the fakes is that they have little interest in quality control overall, not in the quality of the mechanisms as those are often just purchased from Seiko, Miyota or Seagull.

Indeed. We don't get to see the watch closely but the open heart layout suggests this movement is a Seiko 4R38 which they sell to 3rd party manufacturers as the NH38. Plenty of micro brand makers use this movement. I have an Accurist that has it. Also noteworthy is the milled clasp as opposed to the cheap pressed item Seiko use. All in all, putting aside that it's fake. For the money it looks pretty good

what movement is it using? if its the NH35 then its be ok.

Most of the Seiko products are made in China and u will see its tag at the back plate indicated where it came from.

I have one like it. Is it durable? What can we say about the caliber? Is it durable or disposable? I didn't understand the video because my English is bad, I'm from another country. Thanks.

I bought my sieko at Dillard's and the packaging you got was a lot nicer than mine. Mine has 4 R 36 on front and back. So maybe mine is the real deal. I hope.

UPDATE: due to further questions, I conducted more research. The watch I received claims to be the Seiko Premier Automatic SSA213J1 with Seiko 4R39A movement. I am going to update the situation...I know a lot more about the watch now...it is definitely not a genuine Seiko...the movement is NH35A...but the crown appears to be a base metal, not stainless steel...it changed color after 3-4 months. I suspect that the movement is likely a chinese copy of the NH35A...The real Premier by Seiko was only produced in a real stainless steel case, and sold for about 6-700$. I will present my findings online soon.

The movement actually installed is a NH39A. No reason to fake this in a cheap watch since you can find those movement as a consumer directly for about €25. I have the same NH39A in a Pagani Design watch. Also the case and crown etc might be fakes but that doesn't mean the movement is fake. When you get these movements separately they come with a plastic crown and usually an extra stem with threads on, that you cut to length and screw the crown onto.

Cancel ziarex and their mega clone watches. Dealers are selling them as originals, and we are losing a lot.

That thing sounds so clanky, my seiko doesn't do that.

I'm using a San Martin Tuna made in china for 6yrs now. Glass is better and have Sapphire, bezel insert is ceramic.

so if you were given the watch without all the packaging how would you determine that it's fake ?

At first glance, it is hard to tell...like many fakes today. However, it didn't take long for the quality issues to show. I have another video to show how this fake Seiko looked and worked like only a year later...it was not a pretty sight.

Are all Seiko watches without international warranty fake? In other words, do Seiko watches have to come with international warranty?

I would not say 'all' of them do, but the Premier and other reasonably expensive models do. Mine came with a fake certificate, so obviously the fakers knew the real model was issued with an international guarantee. Some non-authorized sites sell counterfeit or second-hand watches, or watches that have been tampered with, and are, therefore, not eligible for care under the Seiko warranty. Others do not offer the original Seiko international warranty, nor do they offer any after-sales service of any kind. Usually their guarantee is transferrable to, from one state/country to another. So, it is important to buy a Seiko from an authorized Seiko dealer, especially if it's a high priced model.

With $160.00 go to the store get one with all warranty it is a real one not being scare if a fake watch stop all trouble.

Cancel ziarex and mega clone watches. They are destroying the whole community of original watches and becoming a threat to the economy and dignity of Rolex.

thank you very much sir for this information .. i am this very close to ordering a seiko 5 in pindudu and taobao .. but just like you said the price is too good to be true ... i have a bit of an affordable collection of watches now ( casio and timex watches ) and i was hoping to upgrade myself into a 200-300 usd range of watches like seikos , orient . tissot ... this fake seiko it may look good and cheap but i wont feel great knowing that i am wearing a fake , its like i am deceiving others specially myself ... its the feeling the watch gave me that i started collecting in the first place .

on Seiko's it does...many watches produced in China have the clear plastic with the red line, but Seiko uses a a light blue plastic film on the back

Buying anything in china is a headache unless you go to a certified retailer. I bought an orient from Jing Dong, after receiving the product I have searched online everywhere for 3 days without any satisfying result, Eventually I gave up lol

I have a fake Seiko or counterfeit Seiko watch that I purchased at Wish, I only pay $22 dollars for it, the original costs $600 so for only $22 dollars for the Seiko X divers 200 m, I'm getting a deal and people can't tell the difference if you are wearing it.

A friend of mine once brought me a Franck Muller from China... He paid 50$ for the watch...It is the highest quality replica he could find, even the dial is made of mother of pearl, beautifully engraved case back, fully functional chrono, crazy accuracy to details and so on.... Anyway that was 15 years ago, and the watch still ticking just like when it was new.... Lol fake or not, for the price of these it's not a bad deal. I mean again it was 50$ lmao

I don't like bulova, I don't like that you pair them up in the same group as Tissot or other lifeless brands such as bulova etc. Seiko is its own market, with prices ranging from 200 all the way up to around 10k.

One correction: The red lined plastic cover on the watches caseback is *NOT* a sign of fakery. A large number of companies (in all price ranges) use those stickers. I still find it hard to believe replicators would put so much effort into copying such low priced watches. If you're going to take the time and effort to make a convicing fake Seiko, why not fake a Grand Seiko or some other higher cost model. It's like a counterfeiter making single dollars instead of $100 dollar bills!

@@fulltechahead People suspecting and exercising more caution is a valid point, but counterfeiters feed on the knowledge that their are always going to be the not so diligent buyers to prey on. The economics of counterfeiting 101 shows that copying single dollars is just as expensive as copying $100 bills (not to mention that jail time is the same if your caught faking $1 or $100) The higher profit margins on the more expensive pieces will usually outweigh any amount of money made by the faster turnover of lower priced copies.

Companies do have production facilities in China, and 'asians' work in them..but the product quality is guaranteed by the real company. So, I was not saying anything about 'asian' men..I was showing that there is a fake product being manufactured, which is illegal, and deceptive. Also, typically the fake goods are not the 'same' as the genuine ones, and offer no warranty..they often use substandard components, when people are paying for high quality ones. That is just not right. That illegal market seems predominantly a Chinese phenomena...but undoubtedly in other nations too...the point of the video was to warn people of fake goods, not to criticize Asians..I live in China, and have many good friends here..and in South Korea...

I bought a fake Citizen diver from them. Says eco-drive. Clearly not. Couple things lead me to believe that its an invicta quartz diver in Citizen clothing. But I only payed $20 for it. So I may get a year out of it...if I don't get it wet. lol.

What is the purpose of a watch?....TO KEEP TIME!! so you buy a time piece for $100 that keeps good time and has a name that may impress others. Who cares who made it as long as it works and you like the looks..... and should you get muged then your only out a hundred bucks instead of $800.
