Welcome to the Spyder world. Before I bought my 2021 Can-Am Spyder RT Limited Sea-to-Sky, I did the research on KZread as well. Coach Bob, John and Miriam, Sam Smith, Purple on Three, the list is endless. Just recently retired myself. It does take a while to unlearn the 2 wheel mentality, but in time, it will come. You grip the handlebars like you're holding a raw egg. Firm but not hard. That helped me. Congrats and ride on buddy. Subscribed!

Don't forget: TheSmoaksVlogs Shaun rides them and works on them professionally - he's a master mechanic.at a Spyder dealership and loves Spyders. Look through his list as he's two wheel mad as well. It was watching his "ride" videos in lockdown, that got me so interested. I have an RT Ltd in red - a great machine!

I started my three-wheel motorcycle journey with a RT Limited, but after two years I graduated to a Honda Goldwing Trike. Something you will soon learn if you ride much, be prepared to replace your rear tire every 10K-12K miles.

Thank you for the advice ! Wrecked my Yamaha last summer, at 67 I have decided if I get another it will have 3 wheels. I have been looking at Spyders for a while now, seeing the number of veterans riding them in the American Legion Riders Legacy Run last week as they arrived in Charlotte pretty much sold on a Can Am. Safe riding my friend !

Welcome to the Spyder club, we bought our Spyder RT ltd last year having ordered it September 2021. Not yet retired but getting close to!After seeing what went on to people during Covid ,we decided to bit the bullet & have some fun while we’re still able to. As Covid showed you never know what’s around the corner! Having looked at CanAm spyders for quite a few years on the internet, we finally went to a dealership & checked one out at close quarters. Picking the Rt limited due to the ease of getting on for my wife due to her mobility issues. Both of us have never ridden before so it was a learning curve, my wife feeling she needed to do the CanAm course for confidence sake! I just had a friend who had been riding two wheels for years as a mentor & was willing to help me. So understand your issue with feeling uncomfortable with steering & Corning etc , I had same issues & have just changed out the sway bar & end links & it’s like riding a different bike! Plus to removing the fender reflectors to lights & adding extra ones on rear & front grill. Have fun as we do with ours, we love it so much & there’s many others out there who think the same! Regards Stephen & Pauline from Alberta, Canada.

Thanks so much for the comments. I've added a brake/signal light bar already. Shot video of the installation and plan to post it in a few days. I've bought LED lights for the front and sequential light turn signals to replace the front fender reflectors. I hope to install these with video during the next couple of weeks. Thanks for stating you're from Canada. My mother was raised in Saskatchewan and I have been there several times. Certainly would like to bring some of your weather here now as we are expecting a high temperature of 102 degrees F today.

Coach Bob really helped me with steering. I found running 28 lbs. Back tire and 30 lbs. In front tires and mine handles great now. Lower air pressure in front tires I had wobbly and didn't handle as well. Front tires look good but may replace next summer because I have to run max pressure in them to get good performance out of them. But going from riding Two wheels all my life is a big change but I am really starting to like my Spyder RT Limited. I'm sure that you'll really start enjoying yours soon thanks for the video and I hope you'll make another one soon when you really get to know your Spyder.

Great advice on buying used. I've bought Motorcycles with low mileage before and I got lucky. We just bought a used 2020 Spyder from a dealership. So far, so good as far as the "bike" is concerned. They marked it down $3K or we probably would not have bought. There aren't many running around tucson, probably because of the dealerships policy on test rides. We've got beyond that now and things are fine! Great video @

Congratulations on your new to you Can Am Spyder. It’s a beautiful bike and I think you hit the jackpot. I’d been following Can Am Spyders with interest since around 2013 or so. Finally in 2016 I took the three wheel safety course as required for my endorsement in my state. In Aug of 2018 I finally retired but I never lost my interest in Spyders. Then finally in 2020 I purchased a 2019 Can Am Ryker. We had some great adventures and I put a little over 12,000 miles on it the first year. But it did not really offer me the ride quality that I was looking for. So in 2021 I traded it on a 2018 Can Am Spyder Limited. This was the riding style I was looking for. Very, very comfortable. With all the bells and whistles. With regards to the twitchiness new riders talk about. This is how I explain it. Most roads have a “crown” down the middle of the lane to allow water to drain off to the sides. In a four wheel vehicle the front and read tires straddle this crown. On a two wheel vehicle you can ride to either side of the crown. In a three wheeled vehicle however it offers a bit of a challenge. While the two front wheels can straddle the crown, the rear wheel rides right on top of it, resulting in that twitchy sensation. So the riders first impulse is to use a while knuckle death grip on the handle bars and try to correct each little twitch. All that does is make matters worse. By the end of the day you’re sure you made a terrible purchasing blunder. But you would be wrong. The Spyder wants to ride straight, barring some outside influence like misaligned tires, improper tire pressure or other mechanical issue. So I decided to make a short video to demonstrate just how tightly you NO NOT have to grip the handle bars. Keep in mind this video is not intended to teach someone how to steer or ride, that’s their responsibility. It’s intended to demonstrate just how stable the Can Am Spyder is, especially at highway speeds. I hope it helps to allay some of your unease. kzread.info/dash/bejne/iY2as8x7ntyThtI.html

Congratulations and welcome to the 3-wheeled community! I just made the switch last month myself after riding 2-wheels for the past 30 years. Since the OEM tires are Kenda "motorcycle" tires, I highly recommend putting a fresh set of rubber on...whether you stick with the OEM Kendas or go with an automotive tire.

Also, to your point about the riding experience. I replaced my sway bar and that helped a lot. In addition, I just had to get used to the feeling when cornering being so different from a 2-wheeled motorcycle. I've got a little over 1000 miles on my 2023 F3 Limited and in that time I've been forcing myself to ride it "spiritedly" so that I could get used to how it handles. Like you said...a light touch and leaning into the corners while bracing with your outside foot helps a lot.

It has been over 30 years since I've been on two so, I'm having to get used to the riding outside of the safety of a vehicle again also. So far, I am enjoying the experience.

I bought my first Spyder which was a 2011 in March 2012 and traded it in on a new red 2016 RT Limited just like yours. I already had a motorcycle license for my state of Pennsylvania. I suggest you get the back rest which is a great addition and get out and see your region of the country and you will get comfortable with your Spyder. I also had to have the front end alignment. I hope you enjoy your Spyder as much I have for the past 11 years.

You done real well. Congratulations. Many miles of safe smiles. All the gear all the time. Safety gear that is. (ATGATT) As to the rides. Get down there and look closely at rubber integrity. Cracking or dryness indicators. If there is any doubt, risk nothing. Change them out. Before every ride, do a vehicle pre-ride inspection. I’m 68 and ride a 22 Gold Wing DCT Tour Airbag and love it. You said it. Be patient. You will work your way back into the sensation of being out in the open air. Looks like you will give yourself that necessary space and time. Coach Bob is the Boss. When you are ready, getting together with a responsible Safety Minded group to help accumulate the saddle time with road mikes will help give you Experience and confidence. Glad you are part of an amazing and wonderful world of like minded folks enjoying the affects of the “wind the in the face” freedom.

I'm in a similar situation. Just bought a 2021 RT Limited with 748 miles on it. The guy bought it for someone in his family who didnt really care for it, so he brought it back (2.5 years later) and paid for a full service, then traded it in on a jet ski. So, win for me. I have been riding it locally (around Las Vegas) and taking it on smaller excursions to get used to riding it. Having the dilemma of taking it from LV to San Diego in a few weeks. Im sure i'd be ok, but worried about all the rest of the drivers. So far, love driving it.

Hey I just wanted to ask what is involved at DMV to get your license after the course? I have always wanted a bike but the older I got, the more intimidated I got. But the Cam Am’s interest me very much for their simplicity and 3 wheels. I have very limited motorcycle experience but still have that desire for one Thanks!😎👍

Here, it is required to take a written test and a driving test. But, the state allows the driving school certificate to take the place of the driving test. Being on a bike or trike can be intimidating. If you would have a problem driving a car without having your seatbelt fastened, imagine riding down the road with you just sitting on the bike. I would highly encourage you to find someone who can take you for a ride before making a purchase. If there is a Can Am driving school in your area, it might be the best $99 you can spend. Wish you the best with your decision.

@@practicingretirement7732 yeah I will probably take the class. I’m in NC and all I find here is $199.00. But yeah, hopefully I can find someone near me that has one already. I was in the mountains last weekend and they were everywhere. That really sparked my interest. And my wife said she would not be afraid to ride with me on 3 wheels lol! 😎👍

I had a roaster and a spyder - both were awful - under powered , sky high rpm’s . Went back to goldwings …Also they have a sensor issue that can occur on the wheels and the bike goes into limp, home mode …

Well stated. I had a completely different shopping experience. I participated in the Can-Am Experience. This is where BRP Can-Am sends a team out to a variety of dealers to test riding their vehicle of choice. I went in fully intending to get a Ryker. The leader said she wouldn't even let me test ride one. New hip, bad knee., bad back. Could surely ride my Moto Guzzi's but not if I slipped at a light or parking lot. A real reverse gear, not something that runs off a starter motor. Went through 3 electric trikes. None could do what I needed them to do unless the terrain was flat. Couldn't walk them, needed to ride. She put me on a Sea to Sky but I truly liked the seat better in the Spyder RT Limited. My dealer found the model AND color schema I wanted at a dealership in a nearby state. A week or so later and I had my trike! 800+ miles later , a Convention where I gave rides of convenience and necessity later and the smiles lived on! Watched the same KZread channels as others have mentioned. You seem to be in a warm climate. I recommend what Coach Bob3 recommends too - Bohn Armor. Lightweight easy to wear in hot weather and has the protection of my Moto Port gear only for hot and warm weather. I added a lower light and a dongle for a Battery Tender. Don't want to think what has to be removed to reach the battery! Same color scheme as yours but the looks are dramatically different from your 2015 to my 2023. Hard to say its the same vehicle they change so much year to year. Remember what we said on two wheels? Well Keep The Shiny Side Up! It still applies.

I've seen KZreads where they do the test rides. It seems like a great idea. Yes, it's quite warm here today. It's 103 degrees Fahrenheit which is unusually hot. Thanks for the input and I hope you enjoy your new ride. Safe Travels!

It certainly is possible, since the brake pedal is on the right floor board you would have to see if the brake lever could be coverted to a hand break. Good luck

I don’t know if the bike can be modified to work. I think the brake can be changed from foot operated only. I’m not sure about holding on to the seat position. I’m new to this so you can probably find a better source of information. Check Coach Bob 3 KZread. His wife is paralyzed. He may be a good source. Personally I believe there may be a way to make it work. Try Spyder Forums.

I have an Indian roadmaster, Yamaha mt10 and a can am ryker. They all have their value. I have a lot of fun on the can ams and sometimes you are a little hazy or not wanting to gear up as much. You should try one. They are a good bit of fun.

If I was you or anybody that's going to buy a Can-Am, stay away from them. Too expensive number one. Is not worth it. Buy either a Gold Wing , for a Harley-Davidson. Much better bikes.. three-wheeler Harley, or a Goldwing three-wheeler, is much better.. a Can-Am it's just not worth it... maintenance is way too much
