My dad used to have one of these boats with a 50hp Mercury motor. Had so many good memories in it on the Murray in Waikerie.

No need/point pumping the fast idle lever when trying to start the engine, it doesn't have an accelerator pump like a car, so there's no 'squirters'. Just squeeze up the the primer bulb like you did, lift the fast idle lever up to maybe half way, then push key in for choke and crank engine until it pops once. Then release the choke and crank with no choke, it should fire straight up, then be ready to lower the fast idle lever as soon as it fires up to avoid an over rev. No need to use the choke again for warm starts or you'll very likely flood it, just crank with no choke once it's been running and she should fire straight up, as long as all the carbs are clean and adjusted correctly and there's no other mechanical issues with the engine etc.😁

Seriously tho not a all silly idea , one day your going to want to work on the trailer , replace rollers , bearings ect , and having the damn to dump the the boat in while you work or switch out trailers will save you hours of time instead of having to make stands ect for the hull
