@johnny smit Actually, it's a proven fact without a shadow of a doubt that helmets do provide significant protection compared to not having one. Helmets have saved me and a bunch of my friends lives in crashes/falls and helmets are actually mandatory in most of the world. Yes it's your life, but why be so selfish to think when you come off a bike or get hit you won't survive? Maybe, just maybe if you rode legal speed and got into an accident you'd survive but at normal legal speed if you fall with no helmet you significantly increase the likelihood of getting brain injury or massive road rash that will destroy your face permanently, because you can't control the way you come off a bike and might be unconscious by the time you hit the ground and will be sliding face first with no helmet like a moron. In regards to your friend, was he going legal speeds by any chance? Yes you do get hit by moron drivers, but this is just as bad in driving a car and sometimes it's more beneficial to crash on a bike than a car, as the car crumples and crushes you, where as on a bike you get bumped off away from the car.

@@jbuckley2546 I once witnessed a head on collision between two motorcycles. My friend was right behind me when a Harley crossed the centerline and hit him. He had a helmet on and suffered a broken bone in his hand. The two people on the Harley had no helmets or jackets and the driver broke his collar bone, and ripped most of the skin off the top of his head. The passenger broke her back and her orbital (eye socket). I can't say on the other injuries, but both would have avoided head injuries if they had helmets.

Or even better, a damn MUFFLER ! I can appreciate the torque of the HD engines, but NOT the noise. In my area, there was a huge demand for Harleys a few years ago, mostly boomers living their youth dreams, with straight pipies like yours. In summer, they would get around in 10, 20 packs, invading scenic villages across the province. Cities and villages responded with police interceptions, HUGE tickets $$$ for modified exhausts and inspections $$$. Now, the fad is dying and you can get Harleys for next to nothing, boomers getting too old and fat to ride. Good ridance.

@Diesel Creek, I've been watching your videos for a while now, Just want to add to get a Helmet and some gloves as those 2 minimum is needed for even basic crashes/falls. I've seen many times people lose their fingers when falling because that's the first thing that touches the ground out of reaction and immediately get scraped away at even low speeds. Hand injuries will make you disabled and unable to work on future equipment and using machinery(very difficult to press a button with no ligaments on your fingers or nerves to control them as there is no muscle protecting them in your hands). Just get a pair as there is nothing as fragile as your fingers and as easy to damage beyond future recovery.

For the air filter, I like the look of the Kuryakyn Hypercharger. Pricey to be sure, but the design is reminiscent of the "bug catcher" scoops that you'd see perched atop a tunnel ram or supercharger on a classic hotrod. Something about that always seemed right on a Harley to me.

That is a real looking bike, no barn sized front window, or container sized saddle bags. Worst thing with it is that its is way to new, and shiny. The noise would drive me crazy also after a while. The back fender is too short, too wide, it should follow the wheel with a tight fit. The saddle also looks like its made for someone with a big ass. :)

Hey man, nice ride. I myself have a 90' Heritage Softail I did some motor work to to spice her up so me and my better half could keep up with all the new fancy bagger boys we ride with. Here's what I did: * Heads shaved 0.050, plus a port, polish and valve job. * Andrews EV-27 cam (great for low end torque and two-up riding) * Adjustable push rods * Squak'in Chicken coil and plug wires * Zippers Maxflow air cleaner (plus carb re-jet and tune V&H Big shots Long exhaust * Torrington cam bearing (did this because I had the crank case open and the bearing was a more common failure point of Evo engines. Might as well, it's a $5 part!) After it was all said and done, project was about $2000 in total and she's a real Ripper now! I run Dunlop tires myself, they're a bit stickier. And I've nothing but good things to say about the Zippers air cleaner - my local HD tech who is an Evo engine specialist highly recommended them to me.

I had a '97 Superglide and it was a great bike. On tires I liked Dunlop and Michelin. Dunlop has more sizes but both are good tires. I haven't ridden in about 8 years so there may be better choices now. I will add, tires are not the place to go cheap. I've had flats on both front and rear while riding and either one will make you exercise a sphincter muscle. Road hazards will cut any tire, but cheaper tires won't hold up as well to the heat and stress of long and/or exciting riding, like on a windy road.

Nice ride! Spoked rims look great...spoked rims are also a pain to deal with. I’d personally go with taller bars-I’m 5’7, and like tall bars- easier on the back. BUT it’s all about what feels best for you. As for air cleaner, get your forward controls first- some of the front facing cones put the intake right in the way of your knees when using forward controls or highway pegs. Also if you have the time stop by Steel City or any of the other shops in the area and throw your leg over one of the many used bikes to get a better idea of some ideas of how the customizations feel. That said, we live in a great area to ride- if you can find roads that haven’t been “tarred and feathered”, falling away on the edges, or have those “half paved” strips up the one half Of the lane.

Nothing like a Hog, man. I really like the rims that you have. It suits the bike. Spokes are fine, I've got them on mine, but they can be a pain to clean. ( Folks who ride clean their bikes, brother.) That intake has to go, I agree. Try an S&S intake for that Evo. Better filtration, keeps the crap out of the motor, but you still get a good flow. I'd keep that bike if I were you!

I know this video has been out for awhile but as far as tires I run the Metzler marathon 888 tires they ride good and seemed to wear good. I have a softail fatboy and took the running boards off of mine as well and put softail custom foot pegs on mine with heel stirrups. Everything bolts right up but you will have to switch the back brake master cylinder but easy to do. I wish I had a way to send you a pic. I hope you do more videos on your up grade to this bike!

Love riding. Miss it. Had to give it up after almost getting killed by other drivers not looking. Sweet bike. Black it out. Keep exhaust loud so everybody can hear you. Ride like nobody can see you.

Put some mufflers on it, then it would be a nice bike. Without, it is just a noise maker. Sorry, just my opinion.

White wall tires would be a cool look and maybe some ape hanger bars

With the wheels I’d do black spoke with red ends and probably the same amount of spokes that the heritage soft tail has and some of the Willy G skull collection parts like the derby cover fuel cap etc as they are suttle parts that look cool.

My Harley had drag pipes. When we were cruising the pipes would talk to me. I would tell me I Love You ! the faster ran the louder the mantra became. Long time ago thanks for the memories.
