    I've been using the Ergotron on the PG48UQ and love it. I grabbed it in black and it looks great . I checked out the M10 and liked it as well... but It came down to aesthetics for me. I didn't want a gloss back base. I will also say that the Ergotron is a beefier, more utilitarian design and I love the look of it. And yes, that quick connect mount is very overengineered. I would say it's indestructible under normal means.

    Hey there! Thanks for sharing your experience with these monitor arms. It's really helpful to get a hands-on perspective. I've been considering upgrading my monitor setup, and your review has given me some valuable insights. The Model Price arm seems quite robust, but the bulkiness might be a concern for me. I appreciate your honest assessment of the Vivo Premium arm, especially considering its budget-friendly price. It's good to know that it can handle larger monitors effectively. The AVLT arm's unique feature with USB and AUX ports is intriguing, but the setup complexity might be a drawback. The Ergotron HX's premium quality and quick-connect system certainly catch my eye, but I'm a bit disappointed with the cable management. The Human Scale M10 sounds impressive in terms of build quality and cable management, but the price is quite steep. Your video has been informative, and I'll definitely consider these options when I make my decision. Thanks again for sharing your findings!

    Thanks for the test. I think it's worth mentioning that the Ergotron HX comes in two different versions: The HD pivot (which you apparently got) for large curved screens and the normal pivot for flat screens. Because of the large range of force needed to keep the different monitors horizontal, it seems they needed to design two versions to completely cover it

  • @Adam4

    @Adam4

    Correct, and if they would've looked at Ergotron's marketing, they'd see the minimum weight for the HD Pivot is advertised as 28lb. The Dell S3222DGM they're using in the video only weighs 22.4lb. Kind of unfair to give it a bad rap because you didn't read the specs before buying.

    Thanks for this information… I was looking on amazon and was unsure what the difference is. I was looking for one that will support a c3 lg 42 inch. Which is just 21.6 lbs. Good to know the one that is cheaper is the one I need. It makes sense that the added weight curved monitors have out in front of the mount cause the center of gravity to put more tension on the spring. I guess you could always strap weights to the monitor that are hidden if you really need to though. I like the idea that i will be able to hang heavier things on this in the future.

    4:26 actually there was a quick connect system. Screw half way top two screws into monitor and hang it on the arm. Then secure bottom screws and tighten top ones. Usually it works both for 75 and 100 mm VESA mounts, but in this case for 100 mm only.

I guess I'll have to decide what to compromise on. If this was going on a standing desk (movement and shaking) would that change your pick?

  • @NanoNutrino

    The black WALI Monitor arm is similar to the VIVO arm, it's probably made in the same factory, but WALI have a grey and white version which allows you to tighten the clamp from the top rather then having to screw it tight from beneath the desk. The clamp works the same as the clamp for secretlab's monitor arm, it's definitely the all desk clamps should be made.

    AVLT's previous model (the AVLT-DM42-1, the one in the video is the AVLT-DM64-1) is good enough for most 49" super ultrawides and is $100 cheaper. I'm using the AVLT-DM42-1 for my Samsung CRG9 and I've had no issues with it so far. The CRG9 is 25.6 lbs and the monitor arm is rated for 33 lbs. The main reason why I went with the AVLT over the Monoprice and Vivo is that it comes in white to match my desk setup. Edit: Forgot to mention that the AVLT-DM42-1 also comes with the quick connect feature like the Monoprice and Vivo.

    Something to say about the Monoprice HD - the fact that only has two pivots, means the screen can't stay centered if you pull it up or down, or towards you. That's a pretty big no-go for 'congested' desks, multimonitor setups or things like graphic tablets, which need to move forward. I went for a Ergotron LX for my 24" / 9kg graphics tablet, so it can double as a secondory monitor or be pulled or the way forward, angled way back, with the bottom of the screen standing on the desk to be useful for drawing. It's lovely!

    @Sareth94

    @@phuongtrang280 the screen is on a single arm/link - so you can pivot it, but not pull it forward in a straight line. The foot of the arm will be not centrally behind the screen either, if it's all the way back. it has to pivot in a half-circle, basically. If you have two 'arms', like the ergotron, you can pull forward straight, and have much more flexibility.

  • @gagarin777

    @gagarin777

    I had 2 Ergotron HX's. I would say that there is definitely some variance between the units. One on lowest spring setting would keep the neck joint in horizontal position on it's own (no monitor attached). The other would keep tilting up around 30 degrees at the lowest setting whenever I managed to push it to horizontal position by hand and a lot of force. However both on lowest settings on this neck joint keep LG C2 42' (which is about 10kg, the lowest range for HX) in a position I desire, without tilting the screen up. My guess is size does matter as physically bigger screen just applies more leverage. I also had tried HD pivot replacement header and that couldn't be adjusted to keep position with this TV, it would always tilt up. HD pivot header has stronger spring (hd has 16 coils vs 18 on normal, but the spring wire is much thicker). It's only for heavily curved monitors with edges that expand a lot from flat plane, causing a lot of leverage on the neck joint.

    so i just got the odyssey 57 inch, i have not got a monitor arm yet, but i definitely must get one soon. I have searched online everywhere for a solution, but everyone recommends using ergotron and using screws to stick in the joint at the base because it drops down from weight, im not buying an expensive arm that doesn't even work, anyone know if there are newer arms made for this thing?

    It does feel like there is a strong bias towards the M10 model, it seemed to me that it was a paid advertisement. The "negative points made for the first 2 products (cable management) are also present in the M10, despite the design differences, there doesn't seem to have a reason to spend more for the same.

    I wonder if the M10 can handle a really heavy monitor like the 57" Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 ultrawide. Another KZreadr was using, I think, an Ergotron and the monitor tended to droop down (top is closer to you than the bottom) rather than be square to the desk.

    Hi there, I purchased the Ergotron 45-647-216 HX Desk Monitor Arm with HD Pivot for my Titan 30 inch curved wide screen monitor as the single Loctek arm couldn't support the weight of the screen. I had notice over the last few months that the screen gradually tilted downwards and I had to constantly retighten. Would the Ergotron monitor arm fit my 30inch screen? Yes, I did do some research but didn't see anything etc

    I pretty much have settled on Ergotron monitor arms for myself. I have bought less expensive a couple of times and was completely disappointed. The monitors were only 60% of the rated monitor load weight rating, but failed. Even after tightening everything, the monitor would sag down and/or the monitor would tilt down. Maybe for a small very light weight monitor would by another brand. The other thing to consider is how they hold up a few month down the road as well. Surprised that the Ergotron that you tested had such poor cable management. I also have the Ergotron holding my LG 42" 4K monitor and has been rock solid for over 4 years now. I paid $320.00 CDN for it back then, hard to swallow, but worth it. The mast is 18" high with a 2 section arm, so lots of force being put on it. Very smooth to move around and position the monitor for various viewing depending on my needs.

On mine it takes a lot of force to do that, definitely both hands needed and lower arm moves harder then the upper arm. Without any monitor attached it swings by a push of one finger.

    But Invision say that the max450 will only work up to 35 inches, that the weight distribution in wider monitors means that the mx450 will not properly support them. I know, I asked and they replied: “While the MX450 would be suitable for both the weight and VESA size of your screen, unfortunately, your screen is much larger than the capacity for this monitor arm which is 35" and therefore would not be suitable. In addition to this, we've discovered that some of these much larger, wider or curved screens are much deeper in overall screen thickness and are also bottom heavy in design. This combination and the centre of gravity is much further forward than normal, which in turn, exerts much more leveraged weight or force onto the tilt function. ”

    I've had 3 Ergotrons for at least 7 years for various OLED monitors I've had over they years ranging from 48"-55" tripple setup. They have been fantastic, and at the time, they were basically the only option available. Happy there are more options these days, but I can personally vouch for the durability and capability of Ergotron HX. They make my faviorte heavy duty monitor arm. Ergotron offers arms for every size and monitor wedight. If you had problems with the arm, your monitor was not heavy enough and you should have chosen a different model arm. I've had montiors up to 55LBS on the Ergo, and it's be fantastic.
