Linus Tech Tips made a video on dash cams, basically all of them, cheap and the expensive ones use the same crappy components, I have a $90 dash cam bought new in 2022 and it also makes this sound...

It's amazing we have such devices for cheap these days. I would have loved one of those for 25 pounds back in 1990.

So yeah cant really compare a 25£ digital camera which can be used to take thousands and thousands of pictures without any cost to a 10$nz disposable camera...

These are all actually the same cameras used to capture every recorded instance of cryptid known to the public.

Honestly the white balance on the old camera is WAY better than his current one. WAY too "red" for the white balance on the current camera. That and this will sound weird but there's less distracting reverb on the old camera's mic as well. The latter may just be nostalgia but the former really is better in terms of white balance.

No joke, there's actually a video on KZread where a guy got suckered by the White Van Speaker scam (speakers in very pretty boxes that are full of lies, and have an listed MSRP of around $2500 but sold for a few hundred dollars by guys on parking lots), and took them apart. They were actually filled with concrete to weigh them down. So he left the box on a sidewalk and just waites until someone took it.

Actually it is common practice in China to use obsolete tech and repackage it into something else for sell since it would sometimes cost more to dispose the parts than to manufacture some crap out of them.

Yeah , i don't know why these junk technologies are sold is beyond me . We got so many of these junk stuff in the late 80's and in the 90's . That are since long into the bin . It is just a waste of everything . Similar goes for these Crosleys record players and other junk record players can't they just stop selling junk garbage materials which isn't ecological at all . I'm so angry and mad with all the plastic garbage we have now . I still have an old Pentax camera from the 70's and it was in metal today's cameras are in cheap plastic .

Considering how many more cameras there are and how many new campers there are (there was a surge with COVID); you'd expect that we'd have some footage if there was a bigfoot.

(6:00) Yes, digital zoom is pre-cropping. The only benefit is a smaller file size. It's better to not digitally zoom at all and do the cropping in post, where you have full control over it.

I have a dashcam that uses the same software, only difference is the sensors they use are much better, but the software is literally the same and it has the same exact menu with the exception of having the ability to choose how long segment of recording will be (since it's a dashcam)

The teardown of the camera at the end was absolutely fascinating! To imagine that someone has actually engineered that thing and there's a factory somewhere where people are soldering all those wires and assembling those cameras because enough people in the world actually want to buy this junk.

@@ThePongles Jeff Yang has done a comparison of the ES120 & the MOM (left handed version of the WOW). Another 70 quid is quite a margin to pay for automatic torquing & a OLED graphic (worth it for the control it gives their soldering iron).

The sad part is that it's wish's fault Aliexpress has some legit good cameras and projectors, for half the price of one in the stores in here. Wish sells shit for the same price but for a much lower quality.

@@JotaC It boggles my mind how Wish got so popular when Aliexpress was already established. Although now that I think about it when Wish was new to the scene tons of influencers had videos about ordering from Wish, so it's down to sneaky marketing and scumbag influencers who don't declare when it's a sponsored video.

@@Alex-ve1og it's also a lot due to marketing and ploys to get you to buy stuff. All the time on wish you get pop-ups like "BUY NOW AND GET 5% OFF", when it's all lies, cause if you log into incognito and browse there, the prices will be much lower (they raise the prices based on what you search and click). And also people think wish stuff is cheaper cause it's $5 for the item and $5 shipping, and they only show the real cost when you are about to pay and enter your credit card, so you're less likely to leave the website, when in aliexpress you find the same thing for $8. Not to mention the "free" items that have $15 shipping, ridiculous.

I got two $5 cameras for my twins last Christmas. The cameras are garbage, but 7 year olds don't really care.

I had a Fisher Price analogue camera when I was a kid. It was well-made, robust and could actually take decent photos (although most of the time, there wasn't a film in it and I just pretended there was). It also had a really strong flash that you could scare your younger sibling with...

I like how the lens cap says "Camera" - either to remind you that this thing is in fact a camera, or because it tries to fool people into thinking you have a Canon L lens, with that red ring

Just gotta love the "Camera" and "DVC" logos. Take that, Canon and JVC!

I use to have one in black that stated “KZread ready” it was a damn good camera and decent optical zoom and battery. I sold mine to pay my phone bill :(

I really like how you've kept your videos the same as when you started. I came across your channel a decade ago when you reviewed the fake iPhone by Airphone. I recently re-watched it this year wondering what happened to Airphone Inc. I appreciate how unform you've kept your videos.

That final camera managed to both look and sound like your first review from over a decade ago. I saw someone else say this, and it bears repeating: you should totally make some "lost reviews" with it. It'd be a great way to get some use out of it, and keep it out of a landfill for a while.

I have a couple of Panasonic cameras like that and they are truly high-quality for what they are. Even the older ones

Wish is like the new Poundland for Ashens.

When I see stuff like this, and these cameras are just stuff, all I see is the damage these pointless useless items are doing to the planet. Imagine the precious resources that have been wasted to produce something that will be thrown away almost as soon as the box is opened. I'm not an environmental mentalist but it does make my heart weep to think we live on a finite planet with finite resources but millions of tons of crap like this is eating it all up. Let's not forget the precious resources needed to dispose of it all too! Tragic!
