Even the idea was correct. He technically defended the knight on the next move.
The difference between Nelson and me is that his blunders are accidentally brilliant moves, whereas my brilliant moves were blunders all along.

Same lol... What I think is a brilliant move turns out to be a stupidity in the next 2 moves...
I feel so proud of myself of having seen the queen trap BEFORE it being revealed in the video. I rarely get to do that in chess videos haha. Great video!
4:45 Bishop H2 traps the Queen! I hate that I only see these brilliant tactics when I’m not playing.

I've never blundered a brilliant move because I've only ever had two brilliant moves. The first one was a calculated queen sacrifice and the second one was a simple tactic sacrificing a bishop.

Feel you like brilliants are so weird. SO sacking a full rook for a queen is excellent, but opening an attack via O-O or attacking a queen by moving a pawn is brilliant?
@prawnydagrate
Жыл бұрын
@@gamepotato I agree, but sacking a _full_ rook for a queen doesn't have to be brilliant because you're up the exchange
"I'll just defend my knight next move" "Oh shoot I can't!" "Wait, holy cow, I can!" (defended tactically)
I call it "brillianting a Thought-to-be-a-blunder move", sometimes it happens when I dont even realize untill I analyse after game
Same thing happened to me today. I mouse slipped my queen only to find out that was actually a queen and knight sac afterwards. Best win I've ever had.

from now on my favorite quote: ''I blundered a brilliant move''
Just today I had a game where I accidently lost my queen... Only to immediately forking their bishop and rook, and ending up with a queen. I checked their king and captured THEIR queen the next turn. From LOSING a queen I ended up WINNING a queen. I was 100% sure I was stupid and just blundered the game away... eval said it's a Brilliant move.
5:05 That's what I call "Domino Chess". When you play the game, do sone moves, and realise how good they are after moving.
Love your videos! Probably gonna sit down and watch this one in the afternoon. :)
The gambit that Nelson tries to play is called the Von Hennig Gambit.
6:51 I missed the best move here, but I did find a way for Black to win a piece: Rxc5, deflecting the queen; the bishops prevent a follow-up queen check. (But as Nelson says, if you see a good move, look for a better one.) But I didn't follow it to the conclusion. 1. ... Rxc5 2. Qxc5 Rxe3 3. Rd8+ Bf8 4. Qxf8 mate.
@eggman3065
Жыл бұрын
i thought of something similar, if rxe2, Qxe2 and black wins a knight on c5
I blunder, think it’s a brilliant move, my opponent plays and unexpected move, and I realized I just blundered
I was thinking about a queen trap, but I was like "no, it can escape on the c8, d7, or e6 squares, you're not going to be able to cover all of them with a defended piece" and somehow forgot about the bishop he was talking about earlier in the video.
Never accept Nelson's sacrificings.
That happens once in a while to me at chess club. I'll get a compliment on a tactic I mistakenly set up, and I'm thinking "Yeah...I totally meant to do that"
How do you get the circles to show up around icons? All I seem to be able to do is draw different colored arrows and highlight boxes.
And he does a BRILLIANT BLUNDER
I do a lot of these, but unfortunately stockfish depth is not big enough to see them
same happened to me. Got a comeback against a trashtalker just for that blunder lol
It’s not a blunder, it’s a GAMBIT
6:46 i think there's a differen't reason why Re2 is a blunder for white. If Rxe2 then Qxe2 then Rxc5 which wins a knight for black
when you are up material it is ok to give some back for adequate compensation. King safety takes priority over everything else. Even if the queen trap wasn't there it still would have been a playable game after losing that knight
6:41, Rook to D8
hello! how do I get the blueprint of the 229 skills? I clicked the link and said the page you are looking for doesnt exist..
Yesterday, I was planning to capture a piece, then found out moving my pawn was a brilliant move. Later that game, I checkmated the guy when I had less a second in the game.
4:06 well, at last it's a logical move, you removed your king from an xRay queen attack and just forgot about your knight
The real definition of task failed succesfully
Stockfish: That wasn't a neuron death... that was a great but hard to find move in Kb1!!
How it feels like when the engine gives you mouse miss click a brilliant move and claims mate in 2 even though i have no idea what i am doing
Task failed successfully
That's what I call a bad game, this video made me so stressed. knight blunder turns into brilliant queen trap, another queen blunder, but win on time, WHAT A PAIN!
I play a brilliant inaccuracy once, my opponent attacked my Queen with their rook (that was defended by their other rook) and so I underpromoted to a knight to defend my Queen but leaving the knight also available to capture with the rook they were attacking my Queen with, either way they take with their room it would lead to a mate in 1 or 2, but they didn’t have to take either and so the three best moves were to simply move my Queen out of the way. The knight under promotion was still the fourth best though and only 1 point away from the best move iirc
Had it happen to me once. All I remember was that I thought I "blundered" a rook, but Stockfish decided it was a brilliancy.
The funny thing ja, you did defend your knight in your next move.

Defending the ghost knight by trapping the piece that took it.
5:44 what about Bh6, deflecting Queen from covering f2?
@elendarulianreo
Жыл бұрын
After Bh6 Qxh6, white is threatening mate with Qxf8. After Bf5+ (connecting the rooks) Ka1, Qf2 still doesn't work because Ng5 creates a new mate threat on h7, and black's only recourse is to sacrifice the queen on h4 and then play h5.
2:50 I actually thought of that before you said it!
Imma check if I have made a brilliant more recently in one of my games I haven’t looked at
I can see the queen trap, but why was the king move marked 'brilliant'?
The Nelson's Knight bait
*mouse slips Oh no! *but it was brilliant
0:22 queen is threatening knight :)
Brilliant move at 3:45
And then he sacrifices THE KNIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
7:21 Why is Re6 a good move? It shows a checkmark
And then he sacrifices THE ROOOOOOOOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’ve had a move I thought was brilliant but stockfish says it’s inaccuracy. Thankfully my opponent also thought my move was brilliant so he sac a piece, play a few more move and then resign.
Kb1 looks like forsed only move.
I one time got accidentally 2 brilliant move... well not accidentally , I kinda saw them, but I just kept playing the wrong moves after
where
Bro really got -69 💀💀💀
Seems weirder that he missed it, as Bh2 seems like the first thing to look at after you gave up a piece
my dumbass is learning, i managed to spot the queen trap almost instantly.
that brilliant move, i admit i didnt see that but once he moved it i saw the queen trapped. it looked so easy
Most of the time people see stockfish telling them their horrible but you had the opposite happen to you you thought it was bad tu it brilliant
Nice video!
And then he sacrifices THE QUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN!!!!!!!!!!
Now this is Brilliant blunder!

@@ChessVibesOfficial your welcome Nelson :)
in a way the knight was already protected, so getting your king out of the way was the priority, I think that's why Kb2 was brilliant
i blundered my bishop before by castling but stockfish said it was a brilliant cause if they take my bishop i fork their rooks and they cant do anything to save them both but i did not see the fork sadly
At my elo, this happens once or twice a game.
when you play a so blundered move that makes it brilliant 😅
So, i need brain cells to be #1 at chess game and i take my pawn to h8 to promote to a queen
How is Re6 good? 7:22

What did the brilliant king move do?
@genericname108

It got the king away from a Potential discovered check, and it basically gained(or lost can’t remember) a tempo and allowed his opponent to take the knight with the queen to g3 and also then made Bh2 to trap the black queen.

The only brilliants i ever had are from blunders
Why does chess not have a minimum time per move like every ither game? Like even for blitz just give 5 seconds before your time starts ticking down so you wont lose from not being able ti make a. 2 secind move like. This is such an archaic system
bh2 was the first thing i saw lol
I've blundered brilliantly before. Wasn't sure how back then I am still getting better so.
Whats the difference between a great move (!) and brilliant (!!)?
@IDKLOL-vw9yy

for a brilliant move it has to be a sacrife or leave something hanging a great move is just the only move that works for example a fork would be a great move
@lolellordfiera3771

I think that a brilliant move involves a sacrifice that makes your position way better, and a great move is one that doesn't involve one but makes your position better.

a great move is securing material for free and a brilliant move is sacrifices that enable an idea for checkmate or a queen trap(i think)

Or a brinder I guess
6:40 isnt rd8 forced mate in 3?
Not *that* brilliant but I once walked into a pin with a queen and immediately afterwards got attacked I thought I did a stupid move at first but actually it was fine (not the best still). The best following move, which I found, was actually to move the knight away apparently sacrificing the queen but actually the knight could then deliver a fork between king and queen, winning the queen back and actually getting better position after a few more trades and winning soon after. And if the opponent didn't take the queen it'd be even worse for him.
I'm on a big losing streak 😔
It doesn t say briliant for me when i put the exact same position
I have for the same reason queen trap😅
I once played a guy that hung his knight so I captured with my knight and it was a brilliant move and that was I got my first brilliant move
I blundered the rooooooooooook to a bishop but it was a brilliant move because it opened the other rook which took his rook and won bishop
Or when you purposely play a brilliant move but actually it's not a brilliant move for the reason you think because you missed a line.
As someone who’s not good at chess all my brilliants are blunders.
You should submit your game to Gothamchess's Guess the ELO and watch his expressions
I don't think this is an instance of a "brain dieing". I rather suspect that subconcious decided it had enough of that stupid consciousness and it's insecurities ;p You saw Bh2 beforehand just didn't realize it. And because you couldn't realize it subconcious brutally cut you off so you won't do anything dumb xd Once on the board and Qxg3 was played you were connected again. It's survival mechanism.
I dont get why the king move was brilliant. Q taking the knight was a blunder but what has that to do with the king?
Oh no my Knight 😩😭
I've blundered a blundered blunder move
I know I have no way to prove this, and seeing as I’ve never been rated you have no reason to believe me, but I feel like that queen trap was obvious? As soon as he put his queen on C7 I said “if he takes that knight his queen is trapped.” Granted I wasn’t under the pressure of a blitz game, but I didn’t even have to pause?
my whole life is 12 about to be 13 blunders
I feel like brilliant moves are easier to get nowadays. I’ve gotten like 6 the past month. Most people hang brilliant moves up on their chess game archive wall but im actually getting alot more then i think i should. Especially with the fact that all of them (in my opinion) were easy to see. And im just barley 1000 elo.
I had one didn’t realize It but mine was a bit different looking at the game review I was just face palming myself like 10 moves i had missed win didn’t know it till they attacked my queen with their knight I saw I could check the king then move my queen to safety only thing was my bishop’s were stacked in the center and it had their king pinned till they attacked my queen and made me move it I never noticed still didn’t notice till checkmate popped I was like wait what but guess that Is one of the beauties of being a 500 to 600 you don’t always realize you are about to checkmate lol heck you don’t even know what you are supposed to do I saw the London opening so built it and was like well that’s nice but now what do I do looked it up later they were saying something about a queen trade but that never happened gave up on that heck even Martin checkmated me when I tried it against him
