I’m a DIE HARD Dawg fan. But I’ve always had a soft spot for Nebraska. I remember watching Tommy Frazier and Eric Crouch growing up. Hope Gilbert, Sherman and Hood ball out over there.

@@ronconrad2867 lol yea man I saw that on the Dawgs 247 recruiting site. Gilbert is a special talent if he can get stuff rite off the field. Sherman was the only OLB we took in that class and after an injury he couldn’t really work his way up the depth chart. Jacob Hood is a huge individual lol. Luckily we have some decent depth up front to negate that loss. But I wholeheartedly hope the Huskers get back to where they belong. I think Matt Rhule is a really good coach.

@tomboby671 OU FAN, let me be very clear. WE LOVE YOU. The only team that was ALWAYS with us, OU SOONERS. 1972 - Nebraska / Oklahoma game and both SOONER S and HUSKERS were wearing YELLOW because ALABAMA did not have the guts to compete against either team after that game. Barry Switzer said it well WITH RESPECT, "Nebraska doesn't rebuild, they RELOAD" such RESPECT. Every time I see a SOONER, I always tell them, "I miss you". OU you guys rock. The only reason the BIG EIGHT IS GONE, we won everything in FOOTBALL and they had to break up the DYNASTY. Finally, there will never be a record EVERY IN HISTORY. National Rankings, not Conference, USA: 1) Nebraska 2) Oklahoma 3) Colorado and I believe 7 or 8) Missouri - The BIG EIGHT CONFERENCE WAS 1, 2, 3 - NATION WIDE and HALF the Conference was under 10. NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN, EVER!!!

@@tombob671 thank you for remembering and the RESPECT still continues to this day. I was just at a COSTCO, saw an OU fan with his hat. We talked, he was just a little older than me and he said the same thing. "I REMEMBER THAT YEAR." His best response to me was, "We were the BIG 8 Conference and NO ONE wanted to play any of us".

Who doesn't love the Huskers? But, ya'll have a problem getting top recruits to Lincoln and as the B1G teams from the East Division continue to get 4 and 5 stars you're getting left behind. Hope the best for you but, have you seen the recruits in the East Div.? There's a reason GA, BAMA, OSU are in the CFP every year.....recruits!

Nebraska got a huge financial bonanza but destroyed its own recruiting capabilities when it left the Big 12, and in doing so burned the bridge to its old recruiting pipeline in Texas and the Gulf Coast. It's no coincidence that the Huskers' program kept winning 9-10 games a season the first few years in the B1G, but collapsed into futility once the last of its good recruiting classes graduated, paired with the firing of Pelini, who got decent results on the field despite being an angry two-year-old trapped in a man's body. The B1G gets plenty of great recruits, but most of them come from the Northeast and the Rust Belt, and teams like tOSU, Michigan, Penn State and even second-tier teams like MSU and Wisconsin are much closer to home for those recruits than Nebraska is. For the Cornhuskers to be relevant again, they would probably have to leave the B1G, which is extremely unlikely to happen due to that being by far the highest paying conference in college football.

As a longtime resident of Nebraska who is not a Husker fan, it will always be relevant in Nebraska, no matter how awful the team gets or stays. That is due to the fact that the state has a strong passion for football but has no pro teams or other major college teams. That is why Memorial Stadium has continued to become "the third largest city in Nebraska" on game days and why every home game has sold out since 1962, even after the team declined from a powerhouse to an also-ran in the early 2000s and from an also-ran to a laughingstock a decade later.
