After the death threat I definitely would not be spending any time alone with him to give him opportunity. I bet he wants to spend some time with his son so he can make him pay for turning him in, and the daughter would obviously help cover it up. The fact that his father has no remorse and still sees it as a protest where he did nothing wrong, tells me he can't be trusted.

right? they keep blaming their brother for "being the reason that their father is in prison" but the father did all of that willingly on his own accord. he put the rally over his family and then proceeded to threaten his family if they were to turn him in. the son did well. he saw the father's abuse and toxicity. but the rest of the family is refusing to see who he has become and instead blame the boy

You dont know that. FBI does not make an arrest on non-reported crimes.. Reminds me of “American History X” when Danny acknowledged that his father began to indoctrinate them with racism at a very young age and no one in the family, especially the mother, spoke out against it. It’s incredible how the son had a moral compass to notice the warning signs and chose not to give into his father’s extremist views. The realization alone can be a heavy burden.

That's a good kid right there, honest no matter what. Every parent, besides corrupt ones like his own dad, would tell this young man, "U did the right thing son."

Tough spot to be in. One daughter is totally with the father, other afraid to pick a side, and the son makes a stand(probably did so because this is who his dad raised him to be). If the mother picks a side the family is fractured likely forever. She's doing all she can do to be their for everyone in her family. Don't see many women like that nowadays.

Amazing how well rounded this young man turned out. Growing up with a father like that, generally ends in a continuous cycle where the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. I'm SO proud of this young man. Even knowing what's the right thing to do, it would still be very difficult to turn your own parents in. He knew it was the right thing to do and his conscience knew it. He did the right thing.

I totally agree. The "harmless" threat is what all abused spouses claim. It was not responsible of him to put his family at risk like this. This was not a pep rally and he knew it. He flew in from Dallas. It's not like he saw a crowd across the street and decided to go see what was going on. The 3 Percenters are one of the groups that think militias are necessary to protect individuals from the government. The Founders feared that states would get overrun by a too strong federal government and wanted to grant the states the ability to protect themselves, not individuals.

It's one thing for a son to report to the FBI that his father is planning or has committed a clearly dangerous act. But having a son testify against his father is something that only amoral, godless bolsheviks used to teach children in their communist youth movement to do. Their great hero was a kid named Pavlov Morozov who reported on his parents that they hid a few kernels of wheat during the artificial famine when all crops and food were confiscated from the people. Hiding food was conceding a state crime. As a consequence his parents were executed. For decades Morozov was worshipped as a hero to be modeled after. Our morels are our personal conduct. Our ethics are our social conduct. This young man is struggling with the personal end of things, as this was his father. . . but ethically he has done, sadly the right thing. This whole business will have an effect on generations in that family. Let us visualize that this leads to good, since it is what it is, and it cannot be changed now. Where there is life, there is hope.

All true, but slightly in her defense, she may very well have been brainwashed to tolerate it after all these years. She needs to kick him to the curb, file for divorce immediately, and find another place to live far away. And if she's afraid the kids may tell him where she moves, don't tell them. Classic long term psychological abuse or Stockholm syndrome.

Beg to differ, the mother is also a major part of the issue. Read below the signed affidavit she provided to the FBI investigators. Last statement on the threats made by her husband on killing his own kids. "Reffitt’s wife, who was not home when her husband allegedly threatened their children, confronted her husband. She says he told her “he was trying to protect the family, and if someone was a traitor, then that’s what’s going to happen,” according to the FBI. Reffitt’s wife told the FBI that her husband is “super passionate” but didn’t believe he would act on his threats. She added he “did not indicate regret or take anything back,” according to the affidavit."

Jackson, you only did what is right. Your parents acted immaturely. It’s not your fault. Be gentle to yourself. Everything will be alright.

Father would've eventually gotten caught. Mother should realize that her so is growing into an honorable young man.

Raising a kid who is willing to tell on you when you do something wrong is a sign that you did something right as a parent. It's really sad these parents can't see that. Good on this young guy for having a strong moral compass.

But then again, people who teach their kids that integrity matters more than anything, don't usually do things that can get them reported to the FBI. 😂 Appealing to "family loyalty" is the hallmark of an abusive family and I feel bad for this kid.
