I've been a simracer since before that term was invented. Many moons ago I had a really good race with someone (if I remember correctly it would have been Race Driver 2 or 3) and in the chat after the race we were exchanging pleasantries (GR ect...)when they asked if I'd heard of Katherine Legge. I said I hadn't. I think she said "You will" Now I have no real way to know if that was really her but since then I've become a big fan

Good vid. He was catching you up after turn 10 because you're holding 1st gear between 10a and 10b and hitting the limiter...then having to shift while going uphill. He's probably short shifting to 2nd between A and B or holding 2nd throughout both corners and just maintaining a slightly higher minimum speed. These are powerful GT3 cars you don't need to be at the very top of the rev range all the time if the corner isn't quite suited to the car's gearing....its ok to be in a higher gear and lower revs and just let the torque pull you out of the corner. This also helps preserve tires and prevent understeer. Everywhere else you held him off quite nicely but he was reeling you in up 10b into 11 big time.

Great racing there my friend. I think though you would be a few tenths faster just through right gear choice alone. The final chicane is 2nd in this car and T1 is 4th and the left after the esses is 3rd. A good tip is that if your car is right on the red line moments after you exit a corner, you are probably in too low a gear coming into that corner. Love the content as always sir!

Pay attention to how Jason prioritizes positioning his car in a SAFE area if Will were to lose control. This style is unique to real life drivers, especially endurance drivers. Sim racers don’t have a team to let down if they catch damage, so they don’t need to prioritize safety quite as much. (It still matters, of course) The really cool thing is that this is another method of overtaking - everyone makes mistakes, so he makes sure he’s always ready to take advantage of it. If you’ve ever wanted to try an iRacing endurance race such as PLM, just using this method alone will get you to the end in mid pack, regardless of the split.

I'm new to sim racing and I've felt that I'm a bit timid in comparison to the other drivers in the races I've done. That said, I tend to end up mid/high in the results simply because I'm able to keep pace and avoid/capitalize on other driver's mistakes. Thanks for the comment and making me feel a little better about my cautious driving :D

Hey just fyi you're shifting slightly too late. According to the notes section for that car you want to shift right when the lights turn solid red. If they start blinking it means it's not optimal.

Thats hilarious that he ended up spinning exactly as I did on mt panorama to avoid hitting you as I tried to close in for the straight! good times man hahaha

I'm impressed with how well you drove and watched your mirrors at the same time. Very nice! I think Jason took the corner before he lost it a bit wrong , which set him up for that left-hander wrong. That and him coming in too hot behind you caused him to lose the back end. Just a guess, though.

Genius is a bit strong of a word. Just about every sport you can register for requires you to use your real name. The exception is eSports that also have a large child player base. Gran Turismo or Fortnite have plenty of adult players, but exposing children’s names is against the law in many countries. iRacing doesn’t have that problem…plenty of 40 year old men whining like children

You don’t have to actually. Using a prepaid card you can give whatever name you want. Edit: Also many people can have the same name and they get a number at the end of their name. So you don’t really know who you’re racing unless the person posts that race somewhere.

you are leaving a lot of time in turn 6 its that last turn after the Esses. you are down shifting 2 gears when you can just drop 1 and keep the foot down mate at least 3-4/10ths just there

@@boostedmedia Moving in reaction to him, he starts his move and then you follow, then he moves back outside and you again follow. Most race series would not be ok with those moves. Granted this was iRacing though.

What do lights on steering wheel mean?

I’ve just recently come back to Sim Racing and my I racing looks horrible (4090), how dos yours look so photorealistic?

I think on that last chicane you should take back the normal racing line after you have defended the inside line and seen that the driver back isn't going for it. Or am I missing something here? Great driving tho and nice battles! Your pov setup is amazing, it really feels like we are sitting on the car irl!

Could do. But the there’s the risk of them breaking late and rear ending you. Or making a last minute dive up the inside.

25:49 Looks like he meant to go full throttle but you were there so he couldn't and instead should have coasted and turned right then heard breaks and a left... AKA you did a great clean defense and forced he it a spot with only one right answer and he did not pick it.... Atleast with my NASCAR brain I think that was clean racing anyway... So great job and glad you got to race him!

The telemetry is done through “Racelab” and the heart rate monitor is an app called “HypeRate” on my Apple watch

I’d say he only did 10 mins or so practice beforehand. He’s obviously naturally a lot faster than me, just less experienced with this particular combo.

FOV setting is jacked up too high, try experimenting with lower values I bet your lap times will drop.
