my first time in NYC, It started raining and I was looking for a place to cover for a while and I seen that 99cent pizza place. They let me hang out there until the rain stopped, I ended up eating 4 slices and was not disappointed

AK is mostly a Miami YTer nowadays.

We visited NYC in early January, our first ever visit to the States, and we just had to try the Nonna Maria from Bleecker Street Pizza based on your recommendations from earlier videos and I was blown away by the quality. We had Pizza in Rome and Naples, neither of which compared to Bleecker Street!!

@@justSTUMBLEDupon Water definitely has a huge difference. There's an awesome pizza store where I live with two different locations. One gets their water from the well, and one gets theirs from the Ohio river. The Ohio River pollutants make that pizza absolutely smack. Better than the one which uses well water

Imagine the feeling of despair knowing your pizza joint has a one star rating and everyone knows it before ever dropping a dime in your business.

I was curious what the worst-rated pizza from Yelp would be, so I googled it and found that it was a place called A Slice of New York. But I wonder if the reviews affected the three guys' perceptions of the pizzas in any way.

Yeah, the one dude complained about the grease on the pizza, but the highest rated had a similar amount of grease. If they did a blind taste test what would the reviews have been like?

Definitely, I'm Italian and that crust looked fine to me definitely not burnt.

I think it did, the one guy complained about the crust being burned at the first place, at the last place the crust was black. Side note I enjoy a crispy/a little charred crust.

I'm all about the random encounter of course, but in NYC people are so brutally honest you can usually figure out a places worth before even walking in.

I had always wanted to try the perfect NYC pizza slice, but never knew where to start. Amazing video!

On our last visit to NY in December, we visited Bleecker St Pizza for the first time, and the Nonna Maria slice set the bar for me. So good.

OMG… still drooling from my Bleecker St slice 2 yrs ago! THE BEST!!

I grew up on DiFara, so crappy pizza is a serious no-go for me. That first place LOOKED awful, even before heated. Cold, laying around pizza is by nature bad. Don't get old, congealed pizza. Fresh only!!

He says the worst is too burnt when it’s slightly brown. However the more expensive we’re more well done and burnt and they say it’s awesome. I dont know why reviews have to be faked abs do dramatic

Great video barr thank you! 🥃 Best pizza I had in NY was Encore Pizza Manhattan the owner was really friendly and remembered us when we came back to eat again the next night and gave us free cans of juice for returning.

John, it was fun to see all you guys together on this pizza journey. It was also comical to see he reactions to the bad pizza. It is hard to mess up pizza but if the ingredients are bad hence the bad score. I personally like Joes or Johns downtown. Difaras or Lucalis in Brooklyn. Thanks, take care.

I usually stay around Grand Central and have hit that same 99 cent pizza place several times. It is very food for what it is. I find it interesting to watch when you order a slice or two with toppings, how they go about making it. It's as fresh as it can be in this case when you order it with a topping or two.

99 cent pizza is truly the best pizza for $1 you'll ever taste. great buttery crust, fluffy, filling and flavorful. In this economy, it's nice to see them stay strong at their prices. It's even better than 2 Bros pizza when they were 99 cents. You will never taste a better slice for a buck in your life.

Dude that first place. It looked like that pizza had been sitting in the holding area the whole day. Just dried out and ancient.

AK hit it on the nail, as he walked into the last shop and the smells of home cooked Italian pizza hit him upon entry . He's getting into food , thanks to your knowledge awesome review.

I watched this on Tuesday, went into the city on Tuesday (we feed and clothe homeless) and I told my kids about your video and that we should try the dollar pizza and we turned the corner and there one was! They liked it! Great timing! Thank you!

Love this guy's videos, i got to new york on the 10th of feb, and grab a slice of pizza on 46th and 8th, and couldn't believe my eyes when, here be barr just walks right by the window 😀 couldn't believe it, i had only been in the city 1 hour👍

Indeed L’Industrie is outstanding. Among my favorites in the city. They're also pretty close to Fortunato Bros which is low key one of the best Italian pasticcerias.

That 2 star place feeding people school lunch pizza 💀

I'm from The Netherland and I visited NYC 3 times (1999, 2007 and 2019). The hyped one from Brooklyn was okay, but way more fattier and saltier than the Italian pizzas. New York has great attractions, but is not a place to get an authentic pizza. All Italian-Americans need to go for a 1 week holiday to Italy and bring back the lack of salt and fat.

Sifat, my guy, you have to fold the pizza for the real experience!

The first place was everywhere on the southern half of Manhattan.

Kudos for not mentioning that first place! L'Industrie seemed to really evolve their recipe since I last visited.

99 cent fresh pizza. I've noted this place for the next time I am in the city. That pizza looked delicious. 😁

😮⚠️ Herebebarr, i am still SHOCKED you haven't tried Margherita pizza on jamaica avenue in queens. Its one of the best. It is really surprising you havent checked out this spot ever!

you did a good job doing this in front of the moulin rouge, there's nothing too close. but if you took the slices away the pizza would be cold and that wouldn't be fair. I've stayed at the row once, so I think I know what it is and I just didn't buy it because it was too expensive lol

99 cent fresh pizza is the best spot to grab a midnight snack

i like how you can order 1 slice of each you want , in sweden you can only buy the whole pizza usually around 10 dollars

Socialist pizza only comes in full pies. And you have to cut it yourself.

I'm visiting New York for the very first time next month and one of the things I must do is eat a slice of pizza at Bleecker Street, which comes highly recommended 👍

No one does Pizza videos of New York like Jon. He know his stuff. I am just amazed how he keeps coming up with new pizza video’s seeing that he has probably been to every spot in the city and done every type of review. This was different though and has never been fine before. We need to start giving new ideas for videos and if any other possible Pizza style ones. We have to appreciate the effort he puts in to bring us these videos. Can’t wait to make our return to New York in April. It’s been nearly 5 years. Going to try a couple of pizza spots Jon has recommended. One is definitely Ribalta’s. Would love to try a slice of the Nona Maria pizza to.

You should’ve done a blind test. It looked like you were prejudiced already. The last place had gigantic burnt crust in some places, yet you talked about the burnt crust in the first one, and about it not being consistent. 🙄🙄🙄 Nah. I want a re-do, with blind testing. You seemed to be influenced by the ratings before you even tried them.

Wanted to write, great vid and representing the best and worst of NYC's pizza game! John of Bleecker's St. is a solid place for pies and the Bleecker Street Pizza has the amazing Nonna Marie Pizza that is damn amazing to have! Awesome showcases and picks! From a fellow Pizza lover!

I just want to share a hidden gem in downtown Brooklyn, little pizza parlor. The dough is next level crunchy. Their pizza is well baked, you can tell by the color of edge and bottom of their pizza. Price is also reasonable. I ordered a large pies for $32 and good for five people. This place definitely deserves more attention

NJ Transit from Newark Airport to 34th street is about 15 minutes. If you have time to leave the airport (there is NOTHING around Newark airport worth seeing), then you have time to go to Midtown.

That pizza place across the street of Penn station up the escalator on 7th Avenue is pretty good

Worked at a pizza place for 7 years a few signs your eating a cheap slice 1) the doe is really pale means there using some cheap bleached processed doe 2) no big or different size bubbles on the crust 3) source has no tomato skin pieces or seeds means there using a cheap sweet processed canned source were they take everything out but the source, 4) the pizza taste bland you cant really taste much of the ingredients 5) not always but good to have some charr on bottom of pizza and some on side of the crust

Also ripping tourists off charging $1.50 for mini water bottles (that cost like 35 cents OTD at Costco).... it's criminal & hurts the reputation of NYC being a good city to visit

I like Paulie Gee’s Slice Shop in Greenpoint. They have pizza with hot honey and vegan pizza.
