can you make a recommendation video for new adult books that have a YA feel - so not steamy romance, but books that deal with the college experience and what it feels like to be independent. Kind of like: Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell or We Are Okay by Nina Lacour - I guess I'm thinking books set in college that are written in the YA style? 😂📚

I got to say, the best books I've read this year are 1. War Horse by Michael Morpurgo - I never cried that much in such a small amount of pages haha 2. Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden - I wanted to read this book for so long and finally found a secondhand copy. I am very glad I could read it ! I am currently on book 16 of the year, which is absolutely not much. But I have to say with picking reads carefully and taking more time for each book, I have really enjoyed almost all the books I read so far this year. So overall still an awesome reading year :D

A good girls guide to murder was published in the uk in 2019 and in the us in 2020. It has 2 books that come after it and they are all amazing. They follow pip, an a level student solving a cold case in her small town for her EPQ (extended project qualification). She makes a name for her self and in the following books she has to deal with that fame and has a podcast. They are a great series and I would really recommend!! I actually bought a copy for a waitress at a Dennys my husband and I stop at at least 2 to 3 times a week in NM.--The Midnight Library was really good. I got my husband, best friend and son into it.--Quite a few books by Leigh Bardugo on this list. I can't wait to read: The House in the Cerulean Sea, Six of Crows, The Love Hypothesis, Legendborn, Red White & Royal Blue, One Last Stop and The Night Circus.

It has a cool cover but a review dissuaded me away from picking it up. Also upon learning what blood magic is, I am disgusted. Another book I had in my Amazon cart for a good while which includes it is Root Magic, but I decided to get that out of there. It doesn't help that a lot of my worst reads of the year were published in 2021. There was one in particular that was okay enough, Instructions for Dancing, but I'm unhauling it regardless, and another that was pretty nice, Across the Pond by Joy McCullough, but 2021 published books I've picked up had not gone well, most of my 1-star reads from this year were 2021, I think one was a 2020 release.

I read all sorts of books. Novels, graphic novels, picture books, audiobooks. I plan on being a children’s librarian so I like to keep up on the latest picture books.

I’m kinda sad neither of my two faves Dial A For Aunties and Arsenic and Adobo didn’t make the list 😂

The list of the books that did get through is so basic and I haven't heard of the two titles you mentioned. It would've been nice to see something in the video that's out thereonthe rings of Saturn interms of people mentioning it on this platform, but no instead it's just all the stuff that is mentioned in dozens and dozens of Booktube videos.

@@poisonedyoyo I know Hailey read Dial A For Aunties this year and enjoyed it! That with Arsenic and Adobo were tied for my favorites because they’re both Murder mysteries combined with lots of family and Asian culture and food and I really enjoyed them both. Dial A For Aunties was especially very funny, even more so on audio!

That is one of the most basic list of favorite books I have ever seen. Obviously my favorite from 2021 would be Sunkissed by Kasie West had I read it this year but I'm saving it for 2022. The Ravens was exceptional, but the closing chapters had a terrible choice by the authors (or one of the authors), that was so bad and I would like to see corrected in the second book but they act like it's permanent in book one. If that is not fixed, then there is NO REASON for a book two to exist other than something that was mentioned in passing on one page and never brought up again that they clearly want to explore. Honestly based on how things went, I'm saving books for 2022 I intended to read this year that might've been favorites, but Her Royal Highness is the one that comes to mind when this question is brought up for books this year. Oh Across the Pond was pretty good, and of course Cool For the Summer was something.

Thanks for the link about House on the Cerulean Sea; like you I thought the book was just ok-- I was glad I'd gotten it from the library rather than book store. Jaw pretty much dropped reading that, though, I had no inkling from reading the book. Just...wow. I knew about residential schools, my shock is entirely that this fluff story is what the author thought of based on that and the other current events mentioned (and that he'd *admit* it.) Unfathomable, and telling, to say the least.

Be warned midnight library isn’t so much a booklover type book. It’s more about about choices and regret and depression! The library isn’t really for reading books, it’s more a library of lives this character could have lived if she made slightly different choices.
