As a South African we always say that one of the quietest massacres ever done to our American brothers and sisters is the intentional deletion of your surnames, history and therefore connection to your past. We are proud that they have been able to resurrected this into a culture that is celebrated the world over however it is a young culture and because of its youth, most of the themes of that culture are interpreted instead being ingrained. Themes such as safety, wealth and even the right to exist as a people is more of an interpretation rather than a cultural constant that informs your conviction. I hear your pain Ashley but the solutions to some of your cries can only be resolved through time. The solutions to the Black American crisis have to be repeated, reinstated and reapplied over generations for many years in order to be ingrained into the fabric of your society. South Africa is also experiencing something similar however our connection to our past was disturbed rather than deleted. That said, some of the effects of which require us to build new interpretations, agree on those interpretations and repeat them over multiple generations before we can see an end to some our problematic themes such as Gender Based Violence, Poverty and our attitude towards crime. Have hope, our societies are strong and it will get better. Love your content as always ❤🇿🇦

This is where u r out of line. U don’t just speak on your experience and say “I don’t feel safe in America”. You overstep your power and say “you are not safe in America.” Some of us are highly spiritual and discerning, and understand that you are speaking instability over people. That is an attack of the root chakra when u tell ppl who are complete strangers they’re not safe in the place they call home. If you know someone who is in imminent danger, warn them…and yes, they may never leave. They may never come visit you…because Africa has its own set of challenges (like everywhere hello!) Some people may leave and go to countries other than Africa, if they choose. But just telling a collective of people that they’re not safe is root work whether u mean to do that or not. Enjoy your Africa and inspire ppl to want to come thru talking about your experiences but don’t mess with the experiences of others and speak a narrative that they’re not safe where they are. U don’t speak for the black community as a whole because we are all different, not a monolith. Not all of us view life thru racial lenses and call everything racism.

Yes, America has many problems, but the same can be said for many other nations. South Africa is certainly not a utopia. It has one of the highest rates of income inequality in the world. Additionally, a very large segment of South Africans live in poverty. I'm sure however, that SA is a beautiful country (I plan to visit) and a great place to live for the "haves" of society. I simply don't understand why Ashley repeatedly turns a blind eye to the income inequality and harsh living conditions in South Africa (for the have-nots).

  • @publicminx

@@Blissful-es1kk income inequality is totally irrelevant. thats a left wing resentment/stereotype. its just being 'envy' about others. no one got a better life while trying to equal all people (which is why 100% of all socialist/anticapitalist countries failed). relevant is that a society makes the life of everyone better which is not the same as making the life of some who have more worse (which does not help anyone else - you just have then more poor people). now you also learned why the countries with the most wealthy people per capita are also better for poor people while the countries without billionaires/millioniaers are among the worse. the mechanism is NOT that because there are wealthy people therefor others are poor. thats a lie (obviously if it was true then humankind kept poor and never evolved - no market every became bigger). true is that South Africa has a lot of problems.

However, I do acknowledge that there are many challenges in the U.S., particularly for those of us, who weren't taught how to avoid the societal traps. Yes, there's also some discrimination and micro aggressions, but I tend to socialize with like minded people and I try my best, when out and about, not to feed into negative energy. I am in no way stating that everyone has enjoyed the same, as I have, but I am just shedding light on the fact that some of us do have it good. I would however visit (and possibly live half the year in another country), but the U.S. will always be my home base.

I live in the US and would agree that we are in a crisis. But if you look at our history we’ve never not been in a crisis and so we’ve found ways to continue to be and sometimes even thrive under those conditions. Which sucks but speaks to our ability to adapt under some of any type of circumstance. I’m into family history research and have traced some of my roots through DNA testing back to Africa, have visited west Africa twice and have had an interest in the continent. But in looking around and observing many African Americans I think there is a connection to Africa but an even deeper connection to the US. I think there are efforts to mask how bad things actually are here in the US. People are kept in the dark and don’t really know or don’t want to know. I also feel like the US wouldn’t want many of us to leave because there has always been a want to keep someone (us) in the bottom caste to serve them and because of generational prejudices, unless they can replace us. So there are a lot of moving parts. But also if you are living in Black America - there are safe or safer places to be in the US and if you can situate yourself there, life can be better, descent even. But a lot of people don’t have, regardless of race and are also not in a position to travel or move right away. Some people are here watching over elders or never even thought of a move outside of their country let alone their city or state. For those who remain, maybe they can still connect with Africans and those who have moved to the continent for networking and business opportunity and investment. And for all who are planning to make the move or who have already done so, I wish the best for you.

They are fleeing, because they lack opportunities. I think many countries in Africa are nice to live in, but the kicker is, you need money to live well and many Africans, do not have money and are locked out of many opportunities to make money in their home countries. Some Black Americans, may enjoy living in South Africa, while earning U.S. dollars, since they are able to capitalize off of the fact that 1 dollar = ~19 rands. This means that your money goes much further there, than in the U.S.

But a lot of what you are working for - basic human dignity - is available elsewhere. You keep waiting for the arc of the moral universe to eventually bend towards justice while other people in the world are eating mangoes and croissants not worried at all that their children will be murdered at a traffic stop.

My sister Ashley, you are very lucky to know what you know. Like you said, black people will never get out of their comfort zones. They have been so brainwashed by the media to hate Africa, and love the hell hole that is America. I was talking about this same issue on another platform today, where some black people expressed resentment about being called "African-American", and preferring to go by "Black American" instead. This whole word-play exposes the head game that people of African descent in America have to play daily, just to survive. I don't hear about Italian Americans complaining about being linked with Italy, or Irish Americans, or Jewish Americans. It's only "African Americans", who hate being associated with Africa, the continent of their ancestors. It is really a shame, but it also goes to show how much damage has been done to the psyche of black people in the United States. They have bought the white-man's lies, hook, line and sinker. It will take a new generation of black children to overcome this impediment. A few weeks ago, I read about a 15 year old Nigerian High School student who came out on top in a Math challenge attended by students from the USA, Germany, Japan, Italy, and a whole lot of European countries. No black child in America will ever have such opportunity or support to attend such an event, let alone excel. We as Africans have a lot of work to do, to re-educate ourselves about who we really are. So, thank you for the invitation and for the work that you're doing to nurture and foster the growth of Black people worldwide. I am coming to the end of a very important project that I had embarked on for the past several years, and as soon as I'm free I'll like to become a part of your group Keep up the good work sister, and more grease to your elbows. Peace!

I feel you...with two caveats. Your analogy does not work for two reasons. You do not find Italian American descendants calling themselves Italian-Americans after living in America for hundreds of years. You generally find that the FIRST generation (of any country) born into America do it. Second, Africa is a continent, not a country. You do not have the descendants of Italians calling themselves European Americans. I'm old, so forgive the history. Jesse Jackson popularized the term African American in the 80s. He didn't create the term. He just popularized the use of it. In other words, people were walking around saying black Americans before that. We went loosely from "colored," "Negro," to "black". These were the names on the forms we filled out. Then after Jesse. It went from "colored," "Negro," and "black" to African American. I once had a young Nigerian attending college tell my American students something that has stuck with me, even to this day. He might have been 19. He asked my students what would they call themselves if they got into trouble overseas. Eventually, he told them. Stop it. Tell the authorities, you are American. Then, he said. In my country, we were taught to love your country (this was 30 years ago...), you are taught to hate your country. Its why we come and succeed and why you remain and fail. Yes, I want to leave America, one day. I would love to step onto the African continent. But life is often more complicated than it appears. Today, Nigeria probably isn't teaching their young ones to love America. The last I checked, they were trying to keep our weird western values OUT of their country. Peace.

Blessings Ashley 🙏🏾💕Praying constantly, never ceasing in every way everyday!!! My daughter and grandchildren are living peacefully in Tanzania. They’ve been there since August 2023. It has its challenges, but what doesn’t? Compared to what’s been happening and still happening in the US I’d rather take that chance. I can’t wait to visit them come June God willing. Thanks for all you do!!!

Who runs the music, entertainment, media industries and continues pushing this crap down our throats whether we want it or not? I personally don't know anyone listening to this crap and trying to emulate the lifestyle. Do your research, connect the dots, everyone doesn't listen to that garbage.

I just found your channel. I live in California and was planning on leaving the country too. Haven’t watched enough videos to know where you’re at but if it’s nice and you like it I would like to know more about it. The next video I am going to watch of yours is: I quit my $100,000 job to move to Africa. That should be very interesting.

It’s a bit tough to move with a family of 6 to up and move to another country. Mindset is one thing, but finances etc is another major issue, especially when we have to pay for all these courses that share most of the information we already know.

You are right! The U.S. refuse to give us reparations, and neither political party has done nothing to improve the lives of Black people in America. Congratulations! You made the conscious move to leave the U.S. and migrate to the mother continent. Continue to stay bless, and assist those who want help. May God continue to bless you.
