Wow.... What a surprise! I lived 5 years in Japan, Tokyo 2 years, elsewhere 3 years. I have been to Kyoto. Wish I could give you some advice but have never really "hiked" there. Most Japanese are extremely polite and friendly who will generally be more than helpful to assist you when you meet (if they know any English). Fyi, many, many people will want to practice their English with you, so don't be surprised! You will have a blast....🇯🇵 I hope the weather does not hamper you too much this time of year. Take a poncho or rain coat,,,,, actually an umbrella might be nice. I was sure missing the hiking videos so this will be great! And make sure to get a train map. If I still lived there, I would volunteer to be your private Trail Angel, but alas,,, 🥾🥾 Hike on. Mata ne (short casual version for see you later) And Happy Veterans Day in Advance. Thank you for your service! 🇺🇸

thanks as always brotha much appreciated! that's so cool you got to live there for a few years! I remember them being super friendly last time I went so not too worried there! Biggest challenge will be camping if I even can! lol

Wow, I am so excited you are going to hike Nakasendo!! I saw you at Bishop at the end of your PCT hike. If we see you in Japan, that’s amazing since my families and I will be traveling between Tokyo and Hakone area. Otherwise definitely I will be watching your journey again on KZread. Enjoy!!
