What Sadhguru is saying is --- who a person truly is, is beyond the body and mind. Who I truly am is beyond this physical body and mind. Involvement is his message, not attachment.

You are sitting in a chair made by a human body. You may sit on the ground in a building built by human bodies. The 100 in the audience are sitting on seats manufactured by human bodies, not by mind, spirit, soul, atman, or the Supreme. A movie show made by bodies has refreshments made by human bodies. Strange and funny how a person talking against the body you are sitting to listen to -- talks on a floor built by human bodies all enjoying watching movies made by humans. Hipocrisy at its best. After all this it is still the mind and other ungreate- fuls condemning the human body after disappering from the scene.

Listen everybody here "I am not the body & mind" means I am the soul. This body is just a heap of food which we have gathered day by day & mind is the collection of impressions which we have gathered day by day. U have to feel your soul not the body. Ur body dies not the soul. This is the truth. See the lyrics of "nirvana shatakam" in English written by sri shankarachariya which sadhguru duly follows and was latter made into a song. "Nirvana shatakam" is the universal truth.

Thats odd. My father recently had his intestines removed and happened to survive, while reviving from surgery and thinking he was a goner, he told me that there was someone that told him he could live if he kept breathing. He was wondering if he could wake up and be alive and heard someone tell him "if you can breathe on your own youre alive, if you cant then youre already dead and its fine". The surgeon said they didnt say anything like that, I was thinking it was a creation of his mind, but he says he realized there are many different forms of existence. Hes on TPN (total parenteral nutrition) by the way, and doin fine for now.

Allthough I have already realized for quite some years now that I was attached to mind, It was only 2 days ago that I realized that I am still very attached to my body / bodily sensations and is also a part of my suffering. It was through the remembrance of the way i usually learn things and how my youth looked like that i came to see this. I'm someone who places my body-consciousness in quite some high regards. I'd feel every little sensation in my body and adjust by analysis. Here lay the root of my suffering. I made my body and mind so sensitive towards the outside physical world and eachother that they go crazy, especially when the sensations felt unbearable. It results in reactive actions by overanalyzed logic. The mind was quite easy to recognize for me as a part of my suffering, but the bodily sensations were not. For years I even saw them as a useful vehicle towards liberation and focused even more on then. Now i know it isn't so, i can finally take one more step forward towards a change. "I'm not the body, I'm not the mind" has become my mantra now

"Thinking" is a phenomenally powerful gift that was given to us, unfortunately, we have proven it to be very dangerous. Thinking is not an experience that came along with being. It is our curse and our gift.

  • @ShakinJamacian

His point, if we were to be scientific, is that you cannot be the body and mind. The body changes all of the time. In the time it takes to watch this video, over 500 *million* cells in your body have died. Where do "you" feel this dissolution? The same goes with the mind. In every moment, thoughts, changes, perceptions, and impressions arises, but they're all change and none of them fixed. Again, where are "you" as something fixed with this? What one would be then is consciousness, which is itself inherently selfless. How deep that goes is a powerful question I will not be naive enough to answer. What we can say is consciousness as humans have it is an emergent property, and *any* introduction of "me" as a fixed self is a genuine illusion. I'm sure many skeptics may be thinking I am peddling New Age spooky shit. Everything I have said has been said by the likes of Sam Harris of all people, and I would assume those who know who he is would know he's not one to make spooky claims. It's important to understand what we call "I" is an illusion, and if one can digest this as truth, they may find deeper meaning in what Sadhguru is saying. The body and mind cannot be "I", for "I" is only an image, a conceptualization within consciousness. This would also mean an organism is not isolated and disconnected from the ocean of reality. We think otherwise, but these stances are wrong purely on the domains of science and evidence.

As a small correction, Descartes's cogito "I think, therefor I am", does not mean the thinking itself is a proof for one's existence. It's more like a deduction from the fact that one is able to think implies the existence of a thinker. This is distinct from the thinking itself being existence. Whatever that thinks does the thinking, but is not the thinking. Also, don't forget that the mind is the only tool to enlightenment (via deduction). And you are not your feelings, or emotions either. You are nothing, but a void of phenomenal center. A "thing with no name" that simply is, which is the receiver of both the mind and the body.

Well the way I see it changed or not, even if you lose your memories or your personality it doesn't change the fact that you're still there. The brain being the control center I believe stores the memories and experiences of the individual entity that inhabits it, our experiences make us who we are personality wise so Alzheimer's takes that part away. Once the brain is gone the entity leaves the body because without the brain the body is useless. I believe we are neither but only the entity that inhabits it.

+Isaac Sian, But, can you think without existing? Which comes first: thought or existence? Even while existing, you need not think, for example, as in "deep sleep"! During deep sleep, we are very much alive (exist), but there are no thoughts, why because the mind is dissolved during that state. After waking up, all the chatter within the mind starts. So, before thinking, I exist. During thinking, of course, I do exist. After all thinking ceases (as in deep sleep or swoon), still I exist. So thinking does not precede existence; it is the other-way-round. A little reflection will solve the issue.

The human body and mind can never. be seperated, except by a surgical operation. The body is always active, being seen as a real unarguable entity. The mind and other uncomferable entities are not seen but present since eternity.

Does anything exist outside the mind? All we experience with our senses is projected inside mind, even our bodies All our thoughts and emotions and everything in the'outside world' is only created inside mind. So aren't we actually the space where all this creation is allowed to be?

So was the French philosopher, René Descartes, fundamentally wrong by mistaking his thoughts as his sense of 'I', with his principle, "I think, therefore I am"? Or has his statement been misinterpreted and his logic was actually the logic that Advaita Vedanta uses to question the reliability of senses and the existence of external reality?

If we are not the mind or body, then how does a disease like Alzheimers' effect an individuals conscious? Once the mind goes, is it possible to still be conscious and aware?

The body and mind are totaly separate entities. In a hospital, maternal staff await a birth of a new born, coming from a womb of a female body,, and maybe even some of the mind Delivery shows the item to be a complete BODY and appendages. The mind is its last word to shut off till it matures which may be several months Sonography the best investigation for diagnosis is bannd . THE BODY IS THE MAIN ORGAN for diagnosis of problems of the BODY. "I AM THE BODY, NEVER EVER THE MIND"

I think therefore I am. I am because I can think. I can think therefore I can create thoughts. My thoughts are portrayed by the mind. Observed and chosen by me. Given life by my body. My body guided by me. Good luck understanding that. Namaste 🙏 ❤️
