I ve officially made it in life i am now an honorary grandmaster on gotham 's YT channel. But seriously thank you gotham for featuring my game had quite a laugh with you narrating over it and thank you for everything you do for chess and your community. (Edit: after rewatching the video i realized gotham said i was 1700 in blitz that is infact not true i do not play blitz I havent played it in over a year i am pretty sure as such i am rated 500 in blitz and 1000 in rapid. In the email I said that i hit 1700 in my puzzle rating for the first after being hard stuck 1500 after watching his intermidiate bootcamp. I might ve been unclear i was really tired when i sent that game to gotham sorry just thought i should clarify)

Maybe you can still find some way to play with your peers without the crushing pressure of tournaments in the competitive scene. In my opinion, the GothamChess channel is as great of an accomplishment as becoming a grandmaster. While there are thousands of talented GMs out there who have reached the top competitively through their passion for chess, which deserves tons of credit, there’s not many who have done what you have done to teach chess to the world and help so many people. Since it is between sacrificing your career as a creator or competitive chess, I feel you’ve definitely made the right choice.

Just saw Hikarus stream. I am a 1200 player and dropped down to 960 playing my usual moroxy. Got back to 1080 today. Happy to see you in good spirits. Your monologue in the last 4-5 minutes of your last video was more painful with the pain everyone heard in your voice. Happy to see you cheering up buddy. Now let me watch the video Edit: Just finished watching the video. Wonderful commentary as always, and I’m a 39 yr old trying hand at chess from 25-26. However your video shows these elementary blunders which makes it better than other channels as games shown are high level tactics of GMs. My peak rating from 590 initially was 1197 with a 15 game winning streak. But I also learnt from your videos that playing the same opening can make you complacent(I always went for the moroxy structure which lower rated players had a hard time with. After getting butchered over the last week (see above comment), started playing the Catalan, but had to sit down and study that opening to regain 120 points. I’m not comparing my career in chess to yours as you’d always been invested in it. Keep doing your thing and hopefully you come back. Cheers

Upon recreating the board, Stockfish didn't find M22 but he found M11 which goes as follows: 1.Qh3+ Kg7 2.Bh6+ Kg6 3.f4 Bc5+ 4.Kh1 Ne6 5.Rf3 Bxe4 6.dxe4 Ng5 7.Qf5+ Kxh6 8.fxg5+ Kg7 9.gxf6+ Kh8 10.Rh3+ Kg8 11.Qg6# Basically queen and bishop hold King hostage while pawn opens for rook, black gets a window for counter attack which accomplishes nothing, queen sets up for mate, saccing the bishop, pawn takes a knight that tried to defend the king and bullies king into a corner for rook and queen to finish the job.

Well… I don’t know how to feel about this. I’m diagnosed with Tourettic OCD. My meditation and therapy has always been those 64 squares. It’s a world I can control and it’s an energy that I can’t express anywhere else. I have turned my mental state around and put all my anxiety and fears into every move I make. I’ve participated in many FIDE tournaments and have felt this way a lot. I usually have to decompress for a week before I even think about chess. It’s like having an argument with a partner but I know i still love this “game”. My end goal is where you are currently. I have zero aspirations to be a grandmaster because that world is VERY different, so I understand where you are coming from. Of course I take my games seriously, but I also enjoy these tournaments, the people I meet along the way, and the atmosphere is unmatched. Remember… this is a WAR game. War is hell. Embrace the suck and don’t give up.

I can say that you are my favorite chess player on here that and that being the best at chess isn’t even in my caliber. I’m currently stuck at around 1832 elo and I really look forward to watching your videos. You do a very good job at analyzing and it’s awesome to watch your thinking process. Just wanted to say I’m really happy you didn’t retire. 🙌🙌. Your awesome man.

At 5:57 I think the idea of black to move Nd8 was to open up his white bishop in order to have an additional defender on the d5 field, because if white were to move Nd5 there was either c7 or if black Nxd5 then white Bxd5 with the threat of Bf7. At least that´s what i was thinking was behind the move Nd8 from black.

You probably won't see this Levy but I know you said in a previous recap video that people don't like the negative talk and you think the positive chat is unrealistic, and I know you do it for a laugh, but I think what I don't like about it is I feel like you've done so much positive for the chess world, yet you're so critical of your own performance and I can see the anxiety grow in you. So what you might not be the super GM you wanted to be, but its obvious your purpose in life has changed in the past few years with the birth of this channel and I hope you continue to recognise that. I've watched you every day religiously for almost a year and a half and and although you were still looking for the tournament performances, I saw how many people you managed to inspire to take up a new hobby, use their mind, interact with others and learn a new skill, which is so unbelievably healthy. Since watching your channel I personally started playing a game I hadn't touch since year 6, I grew my rating from 600 to 1500 and I'm competing in my first over the board tournament since school, and I know there are so many other people who you would have had a similar influence on. You even have the big gold youtube button behind you as proof of that. I hope you ignore the negative comments and I hope you find time to pin only the positive ones. I hope you don't ever feel lesser as a person for your over the board skill, there is literally no body else in the world, ever, who has managed to achieve what you have done on such a scale.
