Puerto Vallarta is consistently ranked as one of the top places to move to in Mexico for any foreigner who loves the sun, the beach, and natural beauty.
Well, that's exactly why Colin left Canada and moved to Mexico.
After being tired of the cold weather and wanting to retire sooner, he started looking at a few different countries that fit his needs and wants.
"I wanted somewhere that is dog friendly, has good healthcare, somewhere with a lot of expats, and somewhere where I didn't have to drive... and living in Puerto Vallarta ticks all those boxes"
So after a few months of extensive research, Colin moved to Puerto Vallarta from Toronto in search of warmer weather and an overall better qualify of life.
And even though he had never been to Mexico before, he said, "I am happier here than I've been in years. I have no regrets."
And because weather is so important to so many Canadians looking to leave the harsh winters up north, he knew Vallarta was a good starting point. But he's also learned that things move slower in Mexico.
"It's a lot more relaxed than I am used to... which is WONDERFUL. And the weather suits me perfectly."
In this video, Colin shares with us what his lifestyle looks like on about $2,000 USD/month, his advice on buying a house in Mexico and the things he's learned, and why living in Puerto Vallarta is so popular with expats moving to Mexico.

Hola, Lance here. Left South Africa and chose PV to start my new life (as a tourist for now). Even with a US passport, i'm happier here than i've ever been. Relocated here with my dog, too. 🌈

I'm considering buying a home in Mexico to live part time, and hearing from those who've done this already is very helpful. Thanks, Mariana!

Colin gave a nice overview of PV and it's nice to hear that someone besides me hasn't visited Mexico for years but wants to move there, lol. I'm glad that he has found a place to call home!

Thank you for the video, Mariana. Just one small but not insignificant correction: Mexico IS part of North America. It is the southernmost nation in North America but it is part of North America, nonetheless.

Thanks for your information. My niece and her boyfriend just flew back from Guadalajara, and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico in February. She loved Mexico and that was her first time. Her boyfriend has family in GDL. They stayed one week in Puerto Vallarta and one week in Guadalajara. She was telling me that GDL, is the Silicon Valley of Mexico. That it is growing fast. She was showing me pictures of Homes for sale there. I went on KZread, and went to Capital Brokers Homes for sale in Guadalajara and Man! There were beautiful homes, and the pools were so well designed. Maybe someday I will buy a vacation home in GDL or P.V. Mexico. Thank You & Have a Great Day.

You should def check out GDL. It's a great city and we know plenty of people who love living there. And yes, it's considered the silicon valley of Mexico because of all the tech companies there. Plus, next to Mexico City, it the best healthcare in Mexico. If you ever want to go on a scouting trip in GDL check out our site mexicorelocationguide.com/tours/

Hi Colin ,thanks for your story . I am wondering about the noise from fireworks . I have a small dog who is sensitive . How has the noise level been?

I'll ask him about that- but ultimately all dogs are different and not all dogs are affected by the noise while some are very affected. If you know your pup is very affected by these kinds of noises, we recommend not living near a city center or a very trendy neighborhood.

Everyone will have a different perspective of the same city. Hundreds of thousands of people like living in PV but not everyone will love it there. What works for someone else might not work for you.

It's unfortunate you found it insufferable. I was there for 2 weeks and enjoyed it immensely. I went horseback riding whale. Watching Igambled in the casinos enjoyed the beautiful beach and the food was fabulous. I failed to mention all of the wonderful deals that I found while shopping. The weather was perfect. 😊 You may want to reconsider or just stay home and save your money..

Yes, the income requirements for residency in Mexico start at 6160/ Month CAD for temporary residency. Unless you have visited Mexico before and can prove it with stamps in your passport. Then you qualify for the RNE program which grants you residency without having to prove economic solvency. mexicorelocationguide.com/regularization-program-residency-in-mexico/
