Hope you know that you screw all the local cityzens with your mass invitation, prices are getting to high for local citizens thanks to americans comming here, and the poorest ones are the ones that suffer this change the most. So yeah, come and enjoy but knowing that u mess locals life in change.

This video is fantastic. Why she left the US is exactly the reasons that I want to get up out of here. I've been looking at a lot of these videos by expats, and this one really speaks to my values about how to treat all people. The US is no longer an inviting place, but a risk you take every time you step out the door. Who can dare say that Mexico is more dangerous than the US? I've already begun learning Spanish. I retire in about 3 years. Then I'm goin' south.

We plan to move to Morelia end of 2023 from Houston Texas. Any natural disasters there? We have a horrendous heat wave in Texas now going in 3 weeks…the poor antiquated grids are soon to give way

I share your view of the world, especially the US, sad to say, but really love and enjoy Mexico. I moved to Mazatlán 3 months ago and love being here. This week I am in San Carlos and plan to take more weeklong trips as the budget allows to other parts of Mexico so to experience the country and culture while I am able. Hope to get to Guadalajara soon. The Mexican people are so warm, friendly and helpful. Very nice video. Best of the best with your new venture.

We moved 4 years ago to Mexico from Nyc having lived on both coasts. Best move of our lives and now we live at the beach and have so many friends ❤

Great video, I will be in Mexico hopefully for 180 day's starting in March. After watching 1 1/2 years of Expats posting about there travels ( while weighting for my knee to get replaced) I have fallen in love with Mexico. You have summed up everything I have learned about Mexico in one video that I have learned in over a year of watching video's about Mexico. I'm getting some what frustrated with people saying "watch out that's a dangerous place be careful". I grew up in San Diego in the 50's-60's with many trips to TJ and Baja with no worries, I'm sure my trip to central Mexico will be the greatest trip of my life. From TJ CBX to Puebla and points beyond. At some point I plan on a stay in Guadalajara, In the 50's my family almost moved there, so I must spend time there. Cheers...

@@MrRba122 My ex husband is from Augascalientes Augascalientes Mex. Not too far from Guadalajara. It's a beautiful place indeed. As she said it's not a perfectly safe place but she's only stating her honest opinion on her experience there. I had to make an emergency trip to Guadalajara Jalisco in August 2014 from Phoenix AZ.. My at the time 20 year old son who is mentally delayed and anyone could see it at a glance of him was attacked by a group of unknown adult strangers walking in broad daylight rural Tequila Jalisco, lucky there was an occupied abundance who happened to noticed later that evening something that might be a person off the side of the road. It was my son bleeding to death from a cracked scull..my son with a metal plate protecting his brain, he is currently going through severe PTSD on top of his mental delayed state. At the old Hospital Civil De Guadalajara (near the Civil Nuevo which is the newer hospital). Me and my ex husband spent 16 days off and on there at the recovery ward. Unless you are in a life and death situation there are no nurses to come to check on you, there are no emergency button to call a nurse, windows with dust, rain etc coming through ( mosquitoes etc ), no privacy when I'm giving my son a pronged bath, everyone looking over while I'm wiping my son's a** because you see there's 2 long rows of around 20 people in recovery, no food given for the patient but they sure did get our payment for the hospital stay, someone took my bag of clothes under my son's hospital bed, where we were staying off and on at a friends house, twice cartel and police shoot out in the same neighborhood, on the bus one day on the way back to the hospital the bus driver (thinking I was a white lady tourist) made phone calls telling someone about me. My ex told the bus driver where to drop me off. We went around town twice and I got suspicious (mind you I am not from there, my first time in Guadalajara but I speak understand Spanish very well) in the beginning of the third time around is when I over heard him asking someone to get on at some stop and he admitted not telling me when my stop came up the first time. It was too suspicious for me so I called my ex and he said get off of the bus at the next stop and he'd call s taxi for me. That's not all. The last day there before heading home to Arizona. We took my son to his check-up at the Nuevo Civil Hospital and it was super full in "the lobby" which was outside. That was fine, I didn't mind until some cholos walked around and scoped out every single person. I felt something but I didn't want to look afraid. These guys robbed a couple of old people, and I tried to identify one of the crooks to the security there. But he asked me to sit down and said"it's okay they're gone there's nothing we can do about it" the elders told me pretty much the same thing but they feared for me talking. I guess like the old saying says*snitches get stitches* Although the city was amazing, I took a lot of pictures of the ancient churches etc. I highly doubt I'll ever go back to Guadalajara or anywhere close to it. Augascalientes Nayarit and I'd rather be in Sinaloa..I've lived in Quila Sinaloa. It's not like they say on TV. So I get what the lady is talking about how American media says bad about Mexico but again it's her experience and the above was my experiences. I actually experienced issues in Sinaloa but it was nothing like what I went through in Guadalajara. My daughter (who is brown skin and speak fluent Spanish) lived there in rural Guadalajara Jalisco in 2005-2013 and she loved it, only experienced issues twice with a few people who didn't like gringos. It was fine until she mentioned where she was from. Other than that our experiences with the most people in Guadalajara was great. Most of the people I spoke to were kind and had genuine hospitality like anywhere in Mexico. Most are good people. But I'll personally pass on living there. I hope one day to check out Boquete Panama. Or close to it. If Mexico it would be Augascalientes where I know which colonia or barrios to avoid. This is just my personal experience and opinion.

I liked this video before watching it because I love the title. Mexico is so magical. It is my happy place. I love it. I'm glad that you consider yourself part American. Congratulations on finding that wonderful place. You are so right about the humanity in Europe and the US. The humanity in Latin America is second to none.

​What a great video. I'm so excited to make my first trip to Guadalajara next week. I will check out TWIG to see what events we come participate in during the holidays.

First of all, great video! Thank you for that! As a native Mexican I've been to Guadalajara many times since the 70's, of course, because I have family and relatives there but it's a beautiful place with lots of culture, historic places and at the same time very modern and dynamic. Something important to underscore about this interview/presentation is when the lady mentioned the low wages here in Mexico. People from other countries are able to move here because they have an income that allows them to afford the cost of living, but most Mexicans can not afford that lifestyle, which is sad. Only a small percentage of the population make enough money not only to survive but to have a decent life. Personally, I'm grateful for all the people coming to live here. We can learn a lot from each other and, in doing so, build a better society.

You are correct. Many locals can't afford some of the same expenses that a lot of foreigners can. It's unfrotunate- which is why we try very hard to teach people how to live like a local. So they don't accidentally inflate the cost of living for others in that community

Yes, the quality of life is better in Guadalajara than in Mexico City. It's a more traditional society in Mexico. I'm pleased you too the leap and you are enjoying your life better in that outdoors environment.

I’ve been living in the US for 17 years and I’m thinking about going back to Mexico because of the people, their warmth, to be more social and most importantly to be close to my aging parents. I just need to figure out how to work over there keeping my US income so I can live comfortably.

Myself as a Persian Canadian and my wife Mexican Canadian with three children have been thinking about moving to Mexico for years. Mostly I was pushing my wife to make that happen for 17 years. But her family in Mexico always were against it for safety reasons. I always disagreed , but couldn't win. I saw beautiful side of Mexico years before people start moving that way . 1998. When I was in Mexico. Now my wife sees her homeland Mexico through my eyes too. Our plan is to move to Mexico as a long term visitor, then decide what to do. My wife and I watched your video together and you brought tears to her eyes . She loved your passion for Mexico. We have your website and if we land in Guadalajara we will meet you personally. Our plan is Merida so far. Thank you so much.

Thank you and I have found the same to be true. I'm 75 with health issues and I can't qualify for permanent but I still hope to move there as a temporary resident and would have to return for major hospitalization but otherwise I've felt safe, happy and cared about throughout my stays! Thank goodness for Medicare, right? And in my case due to things that happened in my finances and health, I also appreciate Social Security, SSI, Medicaid and Food Stamps. I used to have money and lost it, then health decline, I am grateful there is a system to fall back on for help here in the U.S. despite the changes that have taken place, especially since Covid.

I absolutely love your video on Guadalajara! It's true the people are amazing and there is plenty to do. I also found myself feeling safer in Guadalajara than in the US. There really aren't many videos of newcomers moving to and staying in Guadalajara. I spent 4 months in Guadalajara and truly fell in love with the city. I hope to return soon. What is the area in Zapopan you said are living? I want to check it out. You did an excellent job with this video. Thank you so much for shedding light on this beautiful city. I had no idea about Twig. I do for next time 😀

I agree with the other commentators, this is one of the best and most honest interviews of life in Mexico. This lady is very respectful of Mexico, it’s people and this is a must, if you live in Mexico. I like this lady.

Lovely interview and wonderful insights and energy from her. A couple of things: 1) She mentioned that for her budget living in Providencia was not possible. It would've been helpful if she could've given a ballpark figure of real estate pricing; 2) She mentioned that private healthcare was good. Would've been helpful if she could've given a ballpark figure of what a private plan costs.

Guadalajara ppl r very friendly, patient & helpful & safe. I was there for 25 days & didn’t want to come home 🏡. I traveled 🧳 on the train & bus. No school shootings. Even the police 👮‍♀️ on bikes spoke to me & said hello 👋. MTA employees try to help u as well. No true about 50% speak Spanish. Only 1% speak & their English was limited. I was there to do business & they only had 1 translator & even then they’ll tell u their English is limited. I was learning spanish but used translator on Google. Lol! I felt so comfortable in Guadalajara. I met some nice ppl there.

Hi Armelle, thanks for this wonderful interview. I am a Mexican/Canadian born in Hidalgo Mex. living in Canada for 50 years now. I'm happy you have been able to connect with our friendly culture. I applaud you wanting to learn Spanish, that will make your experience even better if only through music which together with the food speaks volumes about the wonders of Mexico. (I say this respect just because I had problems at the beginning to understand you were talking about; I think you are missing a couple of syllables: Gua-da-la-ja-ra vs Guadalara) lol

hermosa persona y muy inteligente. rapidamente busco adaptarse al lugar que eligio para vivir. Se nota que realizo un trabajo arduo de analisis de lugares donde vivir, de como moverse de un lugar a otro, de como no derrochar su dinero al comprar un auto, de como se mueve el transporte en guadalajara, de como moverse a otros estados de mexico, guau, me sorprende ver una persona tan centrada, tan preparada, y se nota feliz, contenta y relizada en este lugar. congratulations . who es she? what is her job? somebody may I tellme? sorry, by my espanglish!

Very good truths of my Mexico

Amazing video and information. I’ll be visiting Guadalajara soon for the first time and I’m very excited. I visited Mexico City a few months ago and fell in love with it. I agree with what you said about the US. I American and live in Los Angeles and it doesn’t always feel safe anymore.
