Harold Feinstein was a renowned teacher who mentored students for over 50 years. One of his favorite topics was empowerment; accepting one's own creative source. In this clip he emphasizes the need to claim one's own authority and declare "I am a photographer!" This clip was made possible with the support of the Phillip and Edith Leonian Foundation.

I found the correct quote that Harold Feinstein said “the pictures are looking for you, you don’t look for them”. That made so much sense to me
If only I had a time machine and could go back in time to work with this great man! But I am grateful for these insights into his thoughts and process. Thank you for sharing this.

You're welcome. Wish I could bring him back! So glad we have so much material from his teachings!
I just love his take on, and way of thinking of, and explaining, of the ‘art’ of photography. It simplifies it down to “You begin photographing, and you grow”. I remember him saying in a video that the photograph finds you, you don’t find the photograph, or words to that effect. Please correct me if I’ve got that wrong.
