Guys, this guy is a legit Legend. Even though being a so-called mass actor, he has won three national award, way before even Amitabh Bacchan received that many. A feat very very few actors have achieved till date. He is a legend in USSR too.

He is Mithun Chakraborty. He has started the concept of dancing Superstar in Bollywood and he is the pioneer. Also, he is a great actor who got a lot of National and International awards for his legendary acting skills. A true legend of both the commercial and serious flims.

Russians are crazy for him. Jimmy Jimmy song is still alive in Russia.

I was in Soviet Union in 1986 just 4 years after it's release. In India this song had already broken many records of popularity and had gone off the boil. I never expected to hear this song in Soviet Union. I was surprised to hear this song in the very first restaurant I visited. I stayed in Russia for 6 months. Where ever I went this song was repeatedly heard. Along with it an other iconic song, "Jimmy Jimmy 'from the same movie was even more popular. We visited one children school even there children were merrily dancing on these beats. Event today I see these song being sung in realty shows world over. An year ago artist were performing on these tracks in China. Amazing how few catchy tunes can bring the word together. Few days back these songs were played in Central Asian ambassy function in India. Crazy stuff indeed. Mithun Chakraverty, the actor and music director Buppy lahiri went on to become legend and are still very popular.

The only bengali male actor who went to Mumbai from Kolkata with nothing and became a star in Bollywood. Mithun Chakraborty. Respect.

starting mid 90s, he shifted his base to ooty to establish his hotel business, the mainstream bollywood production units didn't want to travel there and few projects got shelved due to this. Only a handful of directors(tlv prasad etc), primarily south indians in the unit, worked with him targeting sub-prime market of 2nd/3rd tier cities.You can call them b grade movies, however in his prime he worked with many of the top directors of that era.

This guy is a legend in Russia. They still re-create his songs.

He is legendary Mithoon Chakraborty, In the 80s he was very famous in not only Indian but also USSR countries and get love and respects a lot. He came from a very poor family and suffer a lot and finally became a superstar. Ones upon a time his stardom threw a challenge to Mr Amitabh Bachchan also. He is three times national award winner including his first film Mrigayaa (1976). He owns the billion dollars Monarch Group businesses which involved in the hospitality and the educational sector. He has also started the production house Paparatzy.

In the late 90s I worked across Eastern Europe and this song was often mentioned. I used to think they were joking, but apparently this was huge in USSR and people genuinely loved it.

& " SOME " ppl used to called him "Amitabh of poor crowd" " hero of labourers" Etc.... He never cared & proven himself as greatest actor by winning national awards not one , twice but thrice . Despite being masses actor ( so called) no class actor can go nearby to him. Also not to forget he has heart of Gold.

This movie and the songs were extremely popular in Soviet region that time Ukraine, Russia etc. Mithun Chakraborty became heartthrob there. I am a disco Dancer, Jimmy Jimmy, Goro ki Na Kalo ki these were the ultimate hits from this movie. Music composed by none other then Bappi Lahiri - The golden man lol.

Mithun started his career as an extra and then showed his talent in art films which won him national awards and then he became a dancing legend. See him in a very different memorable role in agneepath with amitabh.

Wow, so nostalgic right now, i grew up with his movies and this particular one was so memorable. One of the Bollywood classic! Jimmy Jimmy aja aja is also another great song from the movie, disco dancer. I had such a big crush on Mithun. This man was so popular even in Asia.

this is a legendary song, by a legendary actor Mithun Chakravorty. His movies were massive hits in Japan, he was one of India's most famous stars internationally. He was also known for his acting and won several national awards.

Mithun introduced Disco to this Bollywood industry..❤

Mithun didn’t know dancing from shitting. He just did whatever came to his mind, which was just random flailing of his arms and limbs. Calling him a dancer is an insult to all dancers

@@pitco Mithun was actually a dancer. When He was in Kolkata in early 70s he used to watch Russian ballet and american dancer Elvis Presley's dance in globe cinema hall in Kolkata. He learnt classical dance from a teacher of Kolkata to perform a theater in1972. It was his first stage performance as a dancer . After Mithun Chakraborty there are many Indian actors like Cheeranjivi in South Indian movie industry and Govinda of Bollywood showed interest to learn dance and became better dancer than Mithun Chakraborty. But it doesn't proof Mithun Chakraborty can't dance .

This is from 1982, Mithun was the our first legend of Hindi movies in '80, when Jaaz and Disco was alien words in India

My father tells me that when this song and Jimmy Jimmy aaja song came out every one tried to dance on them like him and in wedding those days these two song were always there.

I used to imitate every single step of this dance when I was little🤣🤣. Good memories

He is a grand master of dance....now new can see so much mature dance...but he was first to introduce this dance step to INDIA.....this was super hit movie disco dancer back then....and it was one of his first kind...
