I Almost Missed It... | Harley-Davidson Pan America Road Trip

My first time riding an adventure bike has been quite the adventure, for a lack of better words. After having to change my route due to flash flooding and snowfall, I'm racing the clock to get to my friends' wedding in Taos, New Mexico!
I'm riding a 2021 Harley-Davidson Pan America in this video, courtesy of ‪@harleydavidson‬.
Places we'll see:
- Moab: After spending the night in Green River Utah, the first stop of the day, was Moab. Home to Arches and Canyonlands National Parks, Moab is surrounded by some of the most stunning red rock landscapes on Earth. It's a popular destination for overlanders and adventure bike riders ready to get off the beaten path. With no time to spare, I, unfortunately, won’t be getting to explore any of the scenery this area is known for on this trip.
- Hidden Cuisine is hidden in plain sight on the south end of Moab. After being so malnourished the day before, fresh juice and an omelet loaded with veggies was the perfect way to start the day. This spot was as solid food rec from the guys I met at the gas station.
- Pagosa Springs: This town in southern colorado is home to the world's deepest geothermal hot spring and features tons of locally owned eateries. Due to bad weather and snow falling at higher elevations, I have to stay here for the night to avoid dangerous conditions.
- Taos, New Mexico: This small mountain town in Northern New Mexico is part of the Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway. It's a popular town to visit due to its roots in indigenous history (Taos Pueblo), art community, and general beauty. It's one of my favorite places to visit in the southwest.

Girl, you need better rain gloves as in waterproof. I’m so glad you made it! The weather was working hard to keep you from that wedding, that’s for sure. You found more dirt on the way home. 😊 once you ride fort, you start noticing every little dirt road or driveway as you roll by on pavement wondering, “where does that go?” Or “yeah, I could do that.” I’m really missing riding since breaking my foot. It’s been 3 months and it’s getting better, but not healed enough for even an all day ride yet. Oh well, that just means I have more time to edit and post videos. Looking forward to the new bike story and all the new adventures you’ll have on it.

Good stuff. I just went and sat on a Pan America today. It has the most comfortable seating position for me of any ADV bike I have sat on yet. I also was on the balls of my feet on the stock Special version before I even turned it on. That never happens for me at 5’6”. This thing with the reach seat should be perfect. If they have addressed the electrical issues they had early on, this might just be the one for me.

  • @ridetofood

I personally think the low or “reach” seat is even more comfortable than the standard seat. The standard is just slightly too wide and it cramps my hips on longer rides. The low one manages to not do that. and it still has plenty of cushion!! 😊

@@ridetofood sweet, I am supposed to go back next week and try it with the low seat. I am pretty excited honestly. As awesome as bikes like the Tenere, Tuareg 660, Desert X, Africa Twin, and Norden 901 are, they don’t fit my body. This feels like it could be a no compromise solution and that’s pretty darn cool.

More beauty of this great country shown to us by Staci in her own special way. You keep knocking it out of the park young lady.😁 That looked like a great casual and fun wedding. So tell me, are you becoming an avid Adventure rider or do you still prefer the cruiser lifestyle? 🤔

Thanks Staci for this video. I’m currently battling shingles and only 35, it’s been so awful and I’ve felt so unwell. Stuck at home on the sofa off work which is driving me crazy. This has cheered me up a lot, as always. I must try the PanAm soon, and the new Honda Transalp

Is there a reason that you chose the Harley ADV rather than another make?

  • @ridetofood

    @ridetofood

    7 ай бұрын

Yes! Because Harley said "hey, we want to help you start your journey into ADV riding" and let me borrow one of their motorcycles. No other OEM gave me that opportunity. It was an incredible opportunity that i'm thankful I had. (I do not own this motorcycle, it was borrowed for a short period of time.)

@@ridetofood Thanks for the response. I enjoy watching your travels. I used to be a sport bike guy and I just recently dived into ADV riding. I thought it was crazy when I heard that Harley made one but it is awesome to see them stray from their norm and nice to see that it is a capable machine. I wish you good travels.
