I Adopted In Five Months As A Single Woman! My Interview With A Single Mother
That Adopted.
There are mixed opinions, reviews, and even misconceptions about adopting as a single parent. That's because everyone has a different experience in their adoption journey, and it's important not to base your decision to adopt based on someone else's journey.
I had the pleasure of connecting with Steph very early in her adoption process. She knew she was ready to adopt and had a few questions. We spoke on the phone a few times, and in less than a month she was a MOMMY!!!!!
Adoption Works!
Steph took the necessary steps, did her research, and worked with the right professionals.
Adopting as a single parent will be different for everyone. It's important to know that you CAN adopt alone.
Thank you for watching. I hope you enjoy and that you find this helpful.

    I’m 25, and am not in the position to adopt any time soon… but I resonate very strongly with this woman. Single or not, I’ve felt called from a young age to adopt, and to take in a child from the world that needs a teacher and a nurturer in the form of a parent, and accept them as my own with just as much love as a child from my womb. I used to watch adoption videos when I was a teen and cry tears of joy ❤

    Congratulations! Adoption is love. I’m currently working with an adoption Lawyer and her team instead of an agency. I promote myself through social media and some adoption groups. I’m a single African American working professional. I’m home study approved and state certified. I’m doing the best I can. I love your advice of staying motivated. And I also realize that a child is a blessing to me and them. They’re not the lucky one, I am. Sometimes it’s discouraging because no one’s really reaching out. I keep praying and doing the best I can. I’m not sure if Khandy if you’re available to reach out to me. Thank you in advance

    Hi Heather! Great question. No. Every state has different laws. You have a few states with very friendly adoption laws, where you can finalize the adoption after the TPR has been signed and a few days after discharge from the hospital. No ICPC is required. That's why I say every situation is different; every adoption is different, and definitely do your research. Thank you for watching and supporting my channel! Please subscribe 😁

    I have a few questions: Q. As a single Mom (on a day job), how do you plan child care, doctor appointments, if you're sick, etc? I'm curious because I'm considering becoming a foster parent and maybe even adoption one day. These questions may be asked in this video? I'm asking in advance before I've finished watching the entire video.

  • @KhandyBryant

    @KhandyBryant

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hi and thank you for watching!!! Here is the response from Steph: I would recommend that you tell yourself that you are a single mom not a "solo" mom. Single in thr sense of not being married or having a co parent but absolutely imperative to have a tribe or village who can step in for your child in the cases of ANYTHING. It's impossible to do it all alone and you should set that expectation on yourself. If you work full-time you HAVE to have childcare. I am fortunate that I have worked in a very flexible career that allows me not to clock in M-F bankers hours. In my case, I also have had a very close family friend as a nanny as needed. The grandparents have also visited for months out of her first year. However, starting soon my daughter will be going to daycare part time. And I have been on a waiting list for a private toddler pre-school that she starts in the fall. Make sure you do this research in advance. Learn the costs of childcare so you know what to expect. It can be as much as a mortgage! And sick? Your little one will get sick so many times you can't even count. Thats the real stress. If I am sick...I have to push through it. It's a very hard transition to go from being single to a single parent. There are some HARD days. And that is ok. As long as you are mentally prepared to change your lifestyle 100% and accept help you and your little one will do just fine! Thanks again for watching 💛
