Driving I-29 south to Kansas City, following I-35 and US-71 along the way. MS paint was used to make the road signs.

    Brought back instant memories of my visit in 2006 to KC. The new Paseo Bridge looks nice! On a side note, you seem to always feature some really catchy electronic music. I just looked up Vitalic; downloaded a few tracks that I may use in my future videos. "Thumbs up!"

    You're right about the city boundaries being confusing, they're confusing to many of us who have lived in KC for most or all of our lives. Great video! Love the segment featuring the Bond Bridge.

    Pretty city! Loving the highways through the hills. Nice skyline too. You do great vids and I love the music choices. You need to come down here and do some Texas cities! They are beasts. Cheers from Dallas.

    Nice video of my old hometown..now there would be I-49/US 71 South to "JOPLIN".....KC is served now by the interstates 35, 70, 29, 49 and the local appendages 435, 635, 470, 670...for a metro of only just over 2 million, KC has a great road network!

    A minor correction... You don't go into Jackson County until you cross the Missouri River. Kansas City, MO, is spread out over both Clay County (north of the river) and Jackson County (south of the river).

    Missouri highways wider than two lanes have a weird feature that takes getting used to. The right lane suddenly peels off to an exit with very little warning.

    European Roads I was actually pretty surprised when I read that about KC having the most limited access highway in the US with Dallas/Ft Worth metroplex being second. It does make sense with it being a major hub city for distribution.

  • @KristiBranstetter
    @KristiBranstetter13 жыл бұрын

    @eluko79 Yes US 71 will remain U S 71 north of the interchange. There are no plans to take away the three stoplights at Gregory Blvd, 59th Street, and 55th Street.

    riolindasucks It's funny you mention that. I recently had to drive the largest size UHaul from KC to Vermont and could much more easily feel the bumpiness of roads and was surprised how bad I-70 was through Illinois. Indiana wasn't great either. My guess at the time was that most of the federal road construction money was probably going into the infrastructure of the Chicago metro which would make sense since there are a lot of highly trafficked roads in Chicagoland, being one of the most expansive suburbs in the country, but I'm not sure.

    I think I-29 is planned to be extended south with US 71 to Joplin. That would explain why it's duplexed with I-35 to downtown.

    Nice! Kansas City is the metro area with the highest amount of lane miles per capita. In theory, it should be one of the least congested metro areas of the U.S. Traffic volumes are not high though, I don't think there are spots with more than 150,000 AADT.

    @eluko79 yes. the courts have that section of road tied up the way it is. I think they should free it for changes and mandate pedestrian overpasses instead. modot was smart, though with one thing in case things change. everywhere there's a stop light the median widens so much they could turn current US 71 at those sections into outer roads and put in a new freeway down the median

    @eluko79 Maybe but I haven't heard any plans to extend I-45. Yes I-29 would be out of place but also remember most of I-71 is east of I-75 and lets not forget where I-99 not to also mention much of the planned I-73 is east of I-75 and even I-77 is so there are exceptions to the grid. If I-29 is not going to be extended to Joplin than what's the explanation for the I-35 duplex?

    Kansas City was named after the Kansa Indians, not the river. If the city was going to take a river name, it would have taken MISSOURI. Kansas City is in Missouri and has suburbs that spill over into the state of Kansas.

    No it's NOT idiot. Kansas City is in Missouri. There was a city on the Kansas side that was originally named Wyandotte" which later changed their name to Kansas City" to copy the real city in Missouri. The city and everything about Kansas City is in MISSOURI. Kansas just has some ugly, shitty suburbs.

    Kansas City was not named after the river. If the city was going to be named after a river it would have been MISSOURI city as the Missouri is the main river. Kansas City was named after the Kansa indian tribe in the region. Kansas City MISSOURI had the name "Kansas" before Kansas even became a state. Kansas City is named after the Kansa indians.
