    Its curtains for Toyota in India. Toyota has been reduced to selling rebadged suzikis. Suzuki and Hyundai rule India. Save for the Innova and Corolla, Toyota has fared badly in India. Toyota makes great cars but havent gelled with rhe Indians.

    Sam0007 yes absolutely. most crossovers are over priced. the brezza, ecosport and the kicks are the only decent compact suvs.

    totally agree, this car is too late to the party and doesn't bring anything new to the segment, Not impressed at all by this car. Just a clever attempt by Hyundai to disrupt the market of established cSUV (EcoSport,Nexon,Brezza) I took a test drive and it felt like a hatchback trying to be an C-SUV... :s

    @@binaykumar-yg7gq you are right. The Venue looks and feels like a high riding i20 hatch. Nothing to crow about. But its better than the Etios Cross. The Etios Cross is pretty much a goner. The venue is cramped in the rear. Not the greatest luggage space. Save for the high ground clearance, which is handy and safe off road, there is no good reason for buying a crossover. If you have the money go for a proper 4*4 or else stick with the small hatch or sedan. This soon to arrive espresso from maruti will also be in the same vein.

    Absolutely. Heck the venue actually is smaller on the inside compared to the Baleno or Jazz as well. Interior Spacewise it's just like an i20

    Plus the biggest cost impact is side airbags ...with build quality like Hyundai which is just better than plastic Maruti ...u do need airbags ...for quality of chasis Ford Tata is gold standard

    I don't think it stands a chance against Breeza. It's too compact ! Compact SUV doesn't mean puny SUV ! Fancy blue link is superfluous and most of its features are anyway available only in top variant. I don't think it will sell anywhere near Hyundai's expectations of 8000 to 10000 per month. An average of 5000 would be realistic after the initial 2 months of hype.

    There is not that much volume for Hyundai to eat into in the csuv space. If it does, i20 and creta will be hit hard.

    Excellent presentation as ever Renuka. I just dont understand why Hyundai doesnt allow all top features in their automatic model. Maybe they need to be told that people have really started appreciating automatic gearboxes and if loaded fully, sales will go further up. Can you people do something about it to take it to their top management. Maybe they can come up with one further version O+ being fully loaded automatic.

    They can't let the price cross 13 lakhs. That's why DCT is not available in SX(O). Competitors will use it to their advantage when comparing prices. Normal people are not aware of the technology of DCT and the 1.0L engine. Other brands' sales reps will mislead them by saying the Venue costs more than 13 lakhs for top end. They will launch the SX(O) automatic after some time just like they launched the Verna diesel SX(O) AT.

    @@neoncity1557 the one that has it is diesel SX(o). Sadly petrol automatic comes only in S & SX+ so no top end SX(o) for automatic and therefore misses out on rear wash-wipe, 6 airbags, rear center armrest etc

    It's actually not underpowered. This car is almost the same weight as the i20 and that engine is good on the i20. Maybe it's because of the roads with lot of dirt which affects traction.

    what do you expect in 9 lakh car v8 engine or v6 engine with big turbo or supercharger. roads of india are only made for 100 kmhr.

    Brezza with old ass 90hp engine is faster than this new super refined 90hp engine by more than 3 seconds.... Even when brezza weighs 200 kgs more than venue. Well it shows maruti's brilliant optimization with engines.

    Yeah...but Ecosport 1.0 Ecoboost doesn't have automatic gearbox...that's why they compared it to Ecosport 1.5L Automatic...! Ecosport 1.0 Ecoboost should be compared with Venue 1.0 manual...!

    really hate this new design language in crossovers where the lights are placed on the bumper. The bumper is designed to take impact. The headlights arent, its common sense. Even a mild accident increases the risk of the headlight cracking or breaking and headlights arent cheap to replace.

    I went to see it personally, it is very very small car. Yes even noxon xuv300 and breeza are sub 4 meter, but on road they feel very big compared to this tiny car, but car is very good built and equipped.

    EcoSport has the best diesel engine. Even the Ecoboost is great, sad that it does not come with DCT. How's the steering feel and feedback?

    There should be a 1.6 diesel variant with the automatic from the Verna/Creta and priced under 14 lakhs. I think that would be a very good all rounder considering the feature list is already good but the engines are just too mediocre

    Just took test drive yesterday... light steering wheel.. good sitting position ..little lag in pick up... cheaper plastic and buttons use... didn’t liked very flat screen.. not easy to visualise display on bright day... Overall not grt deal.. i20 diesel much better...happy driving

    The DCT and engine are programmed to make the car more fuel efficient. In a way this car was made at an expectation of it being as good as creta.

    SX plus should have been introduced with the rear arm rest. Although i am glad Hyundai took the liberty to change the typical body language and tail lamps of Hyundai in Venue, i don't think it suits well with the car. It made it look more like a hatchback from the back side. Rest is a job well done especially the pricing of the car is just game changer.

    Everything is fine but rear legroom is very small compared to other... Not sure what will happened to i20 Active.. Venue will kill i20 active and i20 sales too. Let see

    I test drove the Petrol auto and was always in the turbo lag area of the power band. I had to rev the engine over 2000rpm everytime to get moving, and once it starts moving the at box shifted to a higher gear putting me in the lag zone again. Was it just my experience?

    PLEASE TAKE NOTE GDI(petrol) is known to have carbon buildup issue. So when you buy one please get an “oil catch can” installed. You can google “GDI engine carbon buildup” to understand. (Please thumbs up this comment to help future consumers)

    I'm surprised you didn't notice the slow gearbox in the 1.0 petrol auto... Also under hard acceleration the engine is really loud...

    Dear Renuka, Me and my friends of doctor friends always look forward to Auto Car review specially of yours and Gavins and we were waiting for you to speak on it . Venue seems to be a packaged car from Hyundai but somehow it seems a bit compact more than Breeza and the Petrol Automatic seems to be more upbeat. I wish also that you and your team also can speak of the upcoming cars taking some brands under consideration and give us the idea of how Hyundai , Honda , Tata's plan to come up to launch other cars . I must however say , that you have an amazing flair to speak of thr review that sounds like a poetry , bringing up rhythm in the review that feels more like a friend talking . Kudos to you for that.

    Just need a car like this for daily movement. I love deisel engine, because of its more torque at lower rpm.

    It's a 4 seater compact suv and not confertable. Features are very good but comfert level is very low.

    i really dont like the idea of bringing headlight position down to the lower side of bumper.. looks weird like human eyes placed near the mouth.. instead design the headlight similar to the drl at top

    I prefer nexon automatic rather that the diesel of venue because I get more of engine performance and an automatic which is good enough

    one good thing which autocar is doing that giving vbox 0 to 100 timings which inturn helps people to understand the power delivery of a car in day to day usage because thats the speed we will be using more than its top speed in traffic conditions.. i appreciate auto cars effort on putting vbox timings of every car they review.. good job

    You are the best anchor/car reviewer in the industry. One of the main reasons to watch AUTOCAR is that you anchor it. Keep it up mam loads and loads of good luck to you. Please you only review all the cars. I dont watch it when you dont anchor it. Big fan

    Just checked the price and features. Even the SX model doesn't get features like keyless entry, engine start stop button, rear armrest. Instead they have cruise and sunroof. Also body of this car is very light when compared to competitors like ecosport and nexon. Better to go for ecosport titanium. It has good safety plus features. Also off road price will be below 10 lakhs.

    With automatics becoming more and more common, and Hyundai bringing in the exciting DCT for the first time, I find it ridiculous that they won't provide it in the top end spec. Similar to what the did in Creta! I just don't get the logic. Disappointed!

    I don’t know why Hyundai seems to think that someone who wants the top spec for safety and other features does not want automatic. Creta had 5he same problem, and now both these are out of my buying choices. 🤷‍♂️

    Not sure why Hyundai doesn't bring DCT in top model? There are no side curtain airbags, 60:40 split seats which can be a deciding criteria for many buyers?

    from the rear, the car looks like an i10 which is not really impressive....front looks good but the hatchback kind of look at the rear breaks the deal for me

    Test drove the petrol auto Few facts- ...3 cylinder engine lacks low end torque and response with the auto box, if u floor the accelerator the engine whines first then some pick up comes. ...Shifts are not very smooth on hard acceleration, delay is evident ...I expected a lot more from the DCT, but it feels like it is only a feature here ...120 HP ???? Nooo u dont feel that when u drive ...Overall only style , looks and features

    Ecosport's diesel engine is the best diesel motor in india in sub four meter segment. The drivebality of ford is nowhere near Hyundai. Go for ecosport without second thought.

    I fail to understand why automobile companies in India shy away from giving automatic ootion with the top variant ? The future is of automatics and I feel it should be offered in all variants...let the customer decide how much he wants to spend for each feature !
