Omg thank you haha. Its pronounced vel-OS-ster. Not picking on you at all. It's amazing how many people miss pronoun so many car and motorcycle brands and names. Even mugen was said wrong. Other than that awsome video. You got it right at the end though. If your ever not sure watch a video on motor trend first or even a video from the country it's made.

While option 2 sounds "exotic", I'm sad to say it's option 1. 😂

I will choose veloster n for sure.

Spending a lot of time on the Tail of the Dragon recently I have found that having my Focus E30 tuned has actually hindered me up there more then it has helped. The FWD chassis just can't put the power down on corner exit. It has completely helped me understand why they limit the hp ratings on the ST factory. They intend it to perform well in corners and at factory it is pretty close to perfect for that kind of driving.

Chassis and suspension set up will wake the beast, not power and an e30 tune. Lsd, camber plates, and coils or springs alone will make you change your mind. Chassis tuning > power. All. Day.

@@thedriverux yeah I already run a Steeda rear sway bar. Made a huge difference in rotation. Also nearly reduced all understeer. I bought a Eibach Pro kit too but decided to sell it and go with coilovers eventually. Brake upgrade is next on my list!

Yeah, my local dealer is offering one with the performance package for 2k off plus an additional 1k off if you've bought a previous hyundai as a loyalty program... so very tempting considering all my family owns are hyundais

I would without question buy a Focus ST3 for dirt cheap and 10K miles.....2017/18. Put a tune on her to push 300-325hp. Big phat intercooler and mop you up all day long for $10K less easy. OK now I’ll watch the video...

Hey Gjeebs, thanks for finally doing this video that ive wanted to hear you discussing about and harassing you to do so xD. I did swapped my 14 st3 for a Veloster N and honestly its and all round better car. Performance is there and the car is incredibly comfortable compared to the ford and by that i mean the seats are more soft and adjustable and the drive modes make it a lot more enjoyable in a daily usage. Love it completely.

Unbiased opinion. You point out some good trade-offs between the two cars. Personally, I would go with the Veloster N, might pick one up in the near future.

Ford aesthetics are just better imo and that's what'll win me over on any vehicle.

A bit off topic but just wanted to share. I just installed the FSwerks short shifter thats on Amazon and it's amazing. Maybe something to take a look at for your car. It make the shifts so much shorter and quicker when wanting to get up the gears. Definitely worth it. Great videos though, I would still choose the focus over the Veloster all day.

I just started molding my Veloster N and it's actually at the shop right now getting a AFE downpipe, AFE Induction Kit, JB4 tune, Forge tubro Inlet Adaptor, Forge blowoff valve, and Velossa snorkel. The car has plenty of room for improvements and that was one of the reason I bought it. Front wheel drive cars these days can go much farther than 305hp and be just fine.

Gjeebs have you checked out the “orbis wheel” yet? It basically turns a front wheel drive platform into an all wheel drive just with the wheels alone. They used a civic type R for the prototype testing and it’s very impressive. It’s got a price tag of around 10k but very cool technology moving forward if they can get the cost down.

Great video per usual. Have you thought anymore about doing the intercooler on your ST? I'm personally torn on exhausted or the intercooler for my first Major upgrade.

I actually did have one the other day when I went back and it was pretty good but I liked what I had in this video better !

If you’re ever in the San Diego area I recommend Hodads for a burger. Visited years back on vacation, you won’t be disappointed.

What I'm waiting for is 20 veloster N. I'm sure USA Hyundai will offer some of convenient options like Korea local version. Plus, in korea, they already lunched all the options(extremely high value). Smart thing is Hyundai already knew that people love DIY in the us market. You will not have to disappointed the interior on 2019 veloster n right now.

Just get one with as little miles as possible that fits your budget

You mentioned Albert Biermann but there was a couple M employees that are also now at Hyundai N helping N's development. There are some Audi engineers too at Hyundai but no idea if they are a part of N. Then finally, news was just released yesterday, Tyrone Johnson, chief engineer for the Focus RS, is going to Hyundai N now. Reason probably because of Ford's current direction with the RS and he just didn't want to be a part of it. Hyundai is currently the company enthusiast should be watching for the next few years because we might be seeing some amazing shit like their forever in development halo car.

Well said yes Hyundai is moving up as a company I have a 2013 Gencoupe and not one problem with it. It will be interesting if they come out with a rally sport model.Check out the vid showing their performance parts that was at a show its some nice stuff that will be offered.

Man, that's a darn good point. What's coolest about this is no one is watching or expecting this. Hyundai makes very dependable cars, I think most folks know that, but the new cars with speed are flying under the radar, and I love that.

Recently purchased a Veloster 1.6 turbo and it's a blast to drive. Not a Ford fan but the focus RS would be my choice if I had to go with Ford. I agree Albert Beirmann wouldn't just put a car out if it was junk. Hyundai is still under rated but are stepping up their game.

Not a fan of the “bonus” door on the Veloster but i30 Hyundai has in other parts of world is nice. Also my son likes Habit Burger.

I know someone with a Type R. His is sitting at home in the garage waiting for a new fuel pump on a factory recall.

Do y’all have Culver’s or Freddy’s down in AZ? They’re both pretty good. Five Guys is probably my favorite though.

I think GJEEBS should get the Veloster N. It would be great content, and expand his viewer base. A lot of people are interested in the N. Although the new supra would be super sweet to see.

Teds Hotdogs in Tempe.... They have the best burgers I found here. Real wood charcoal grill. (be prepared to wait if u pick lunch time).Then 2nd best so far I'd say Wally Burger in Glendale. charbroiled and they use Hawaiian rolls as the buns.

If we ever get the i30N equivalent I'd be all over that shit. That's a beautiful hatch

I get more discounts with Ford, which means my budget can be lower which is good. I also wanted 4 doors.

Option 1

I just bought a 2017 ST3 and it has brand new tires on it but the tires spin out if I floor it in first gear, is that normal? If it’s not do you have any suggestions on how to fix it?

Yea its normal to have spine in first gear. You need to fines first a little but you could also get tires with more grip or a rear motor mount

This may be a dumb question but why did you never get the Focus RS? You may have already explained that in one of your videos but I don't recall so I am asking. I'm Jessie by the way.

I have mentioned it in some other videos but the main reason is the interior is so similar that I wouldn’t want to spend the extra money on it plus I want my next car to be more luxury with performance which is why I really like the M2

Why is the ST discontinued in the states ?

Not selling well enough toward the end and ford discontinued all cars minus the Mustang in the US

I chose the ST for three reasons. 1.) a usable back door and seat for my kid. 2.) way better aesthetics, but that's subjective. 3.) Price. I bought my ST used for 18k CAD. Veloster N, 36K.

@@69Disciple I'd buy the N if I were you, I sold my ST the same year I bought it. The build quality, and motor issues were fisher price levels and non stop. The N is a MUCH better built car.

The new Sonata N will hurt alot of people when it comes out

i30 Fastback N Performance

Europe gets I30N (Elentra GT) and I30N fastback not the Veloster. Veloster is Korea and North American markets only. It's more of an GTI competitor, base GTI obviously not the R or Civic R. It's #1, no extra syllables in the name. BTW, RaceChip offers a tune (320 HP) for Hyundais 2.0 N engine. @@Gjeebs Haha I'm surprised I could help, I own a 2014 Veloster turbo and my friend has a 2016 st1. I've been watching your videos thinking about buying an ST but this video made it interesting. I find the ride quality and handling much lower in my veloster compared to the st.

Yea the ST’s suspension and ride quality is great plus the power out of the box is substantial

You should just upgrade to the Focus RS

You know dealers wont budge on veloster n MSRP. Theyll probably sell over MSRP. Focus st ftw
