Korean cars are great till they catch fire or the engine just stops for no apparent reason
I think the Sonata looks the best it ever has. I always assumed it was coming to the U.S., but you make a good point. With declining sales, I'm not sure now.

Toyota is the no. 1 car sales in USA. Hyundai is good but the brand isn't trusted much. The features it has for the Korean model won't come to the U.S. varient. The Sonata CAN last over 10 years!! The N line was resigned by an ex AUDI engineer.

Although I love the ‘23 Sonata N-Line I’m currently leasing - aesthetics and all with my blacked-out “catfish” grill, I have to admit that refresh looks pretty incredible inside and out - personally can’t wait to see it in person, namely the N-Line variant, b’c I‘ve seriously been considering leasing a Genesis next but might just grab it, if it’s available in this U.S. market.
Camry is the class leader and this new sonata is better than the accord .obviously korean fan boys and naveenthemachine will post crazy comments .

no way this looks like the new accord! in fact, the new accord wishes it looked like this face-lifted sonata!
Man, I really wanted to like the current generation Sonata. I saw one in person and thought "it's not bad " but after a while I couldn't stand it. Now this new model looks really nice, I would hope it has an LSD in the N-line or offer an N model. we'll see. I could see myself dailying one.
The new one looks amazing I hated the old one
I agree about the rear end. I think they didn’t need to do anything about the rear. It looks a tiny bit weird since it’s obvious we can see some of the old design in it, but overall looks better to me compared to the older model. Will be sad to see if the Sonata is discontinued. Sedans aren’t dead. Only the ICE variants are at this point (not including any electrified model)

With all the maintenance done on schedule, after 130k replaced transmission, power steering rack and PCV valve. burning lots of oil... Replaced engine at 165k... New engine doing regular oil changes and then some... oil shows dirty after about 2k. My mother-in-laws car which is a chevy, shows beautiful golden colored oil after 5k. I am concerned about some recent engine noise and oil contamination. Getting that checked out soon however. But like you I don't believe I will ever own a Hyundai after this one. A 7 year old vehicle with regular maintenance done at the dealership shouldn't be having any real issues if it was built solid from the get go.

If they badge deleted this one I feel like they would sell more cars. Because the H has kinda just been left alone for years meanwhile all other brands have altered or changed their badge It can still be an H but perhaps a smaller H were it is more angular and sporty looking.

@Joe C. I agree with that as well but for the sake of getting more cool cars its worth it to spice things up. I don't mind having a brand logo on my car it's only when it becomes more of a stamp then a tie in. That's were the issues stand. Like with most ford's the logo is distinctive but it hasn't been changed for most its just stamped on the grill but done in a way we're the car is built well around it. Or set aside on a corner of a trunk to not distract from what the vehical is. With the standerd hyundai badge they could do the same. I own an xg350l it has the badge deleted on the rear from factory and just shows XG350l and on the wheels it has the H on them but it's got gold enlayed into the caps behind the silver H so make it tie in well. Then it doesn't have the H on the grill but instead has a small etched H in the center of the hood near the grill. Its done in a way we're I know what brand the car is but it doesn't distract from its classic luxury look.

The Sonata is a facelift and mild redesign of the interior. I think it has lost a lot of its character. I welcome the buttons in the interior but Hyundai is beginning to "standardize their interior the way Honda has done with theirs. Finally, I love sedans and am tired of people buying so many crossovers. Bring back variety as many people aren't even using the space in their crossovers and are kind of keeping up with trends. I guess Toyota may be on to something with the raised Crown. We'll see how it sells in the USA.
👍🏾 for the spreadsheet!
Thanks for the info.
Looks like something from back to the future. Dope
Days prior to this reveal, Hyundai promised to bring back hard buttons, like what they did with the redesigned Kona. However, they usurped the physical climate buttons with a mini touchscreen for this refresh. Hyundai should not have changed the climate controls panel, what Hyundai did with the Sonata refresh violates the promise they made days prior! Because of that, they can pull the Sonata out of the US for all I care! I get it, Hyundai wants to look futuristic, but I prefer bland and generic (what people call the Accord) over futuristic when Hyundai does not prioritize ergonomics. That said, I hope HMG puts real climate buttons into the refreshed K5 and redesigned Santa Fe
As far as looks goes, it goes more in line with the Hyundai Grandeur than the Accord. Hyundai has shown this design language for a long time already
@Kirk_Kreifels everything I'm reading states the 1.6T won't come back to NA in the Sonata. Only the 2.5, 2.5T, and the HEV.
The climate & comfort interface seems low maintenance for cleaning but just hope the build quality holds up for capacitive inputs. The seats are the coolest I've seen in Hyundai cars so they should keep it up. Let's get that NVision 74 hybrid hydrogen concept to reality though
It’s different… wouldn’t say it’s attractive though. Just like the pre refreshed model, it looks good at some angles and weird at others. I’m no Toyota fan, but they have nothing to worry about. I’m certainly not running to Hyundai over this Sonata.

I doubt the Camry will have 1 engine option. Toyota is definitely more “risk-taking” compared to Honda now, before it was vice versa really, but I think along with the 2.5 hybrid we will see the 2.4 turbo as a “performance” variant. It’s no V6, but better than no performance at all.

@@KirkKreifels I understand completely. A dealer who just received one posted that the Turbo S was a bit underwhelming with regards to acceleration. And that's the 340 hp version! I don't expect it to perform like an X7 with a twin turbo V8, but it would be nice if it was competitive with the turbo inline 6 cylinder version.

@DeadAir21

The mid size market for sedans are in a weird place. Compacts are now just as big as mid size from 10 years ago, and many consumers are choosing to spend a little more to get into a compact crossover. That’s why Mazda, VW, and reportedly Kia and Hyundai are getting out of that market here. Only Honda, Toyota, and Nissan stay in this segment because they sell enough of them to make financial sense.
As a current gen Sonata N-Line owner, the exterior of the old one was way better. I know consumers *hated* the catfish look of the DN8, but it looks aggressive and unique. And while I don't love the push button shifter on the DN8, I do not like the steering rack mounted shifter stalk.
