@@socialanxietyonline hi I’ve just discovered your channel it’s very reassuring ! My issue is very low self esteem and confidence especially when I interact with people I always feel I have to be funny and nice to be liked , I also find peoples faces can dictate how I will get on with them I don’t know is it my prefrontal cortex perceives them as a threat but I can get a form of mutism around them , I used to drink alcohol to deal with my SA but quit in 2019 , covid came along and kept me very isolated as well

Got it! Well, thanks for checking out my channel. Have you ever taken a social anxiety disorder self-test? Try the Liebowitz one here (psychology-tools.com/test/liebowitz-social-anxiety-scale). I used to score somewhere around 120/144 if I remember correctly. Now it's a 28/144, which indicates little or no social anxiety. Let me know what your score is. Great to hear that you quit drinking alcohol to deal with SA, since that backfires and makes social anxiety worse long-term. A simple trick regarding the faces: To avoid threat monitoring faces, it's usually best to not monitor/scan/look at faces for signs of threat, approval/disapproval and so forth. Just re-focus your attention on neutral things like the color of their shirt, their beard or get lost in some random, unrelated thoughts and things in the environment. Anyways, I hope these tips help. I'll try and shoot a video for you at some point, maybe next week, with some additional thoughts.
