Ninja Nerds!
In this lecture, Professor Zach Murphy will present on Hyperthyroidism. We will discuss the pathophysiology, including the increased production of thyroid hormones and its effects on the body's metabolic rate. The lecture will include a discussion on the clinical manifestations, such as weight loss, heat intolerance, palpitations, and anxiety. We will then transition to a digital presentation that will begin with the diagnostic approach, highlighting the importance of TSH and free T4 measurements. Finally, we will review management strategies for Hyperthyroidism, emphasizing the use of antithyroid medications, radioactive iodine therapy, and in some cases, surgical intervention. And what is the best medication for graves disease for a breastfeeding mother?
Shouldn't methimazole be used after 1st trimester due to PTU causing fetal hepatotoxicity?

1st trimester- use PTU, no methimazole 2nd/3rd trimester- use methimazole, no PTU

What if you don't have thyroid anymore but endocrinologist makes you take synthyroid so your hyperthyroid? I got medullary diagnosis 14 yrs ago and had it for over decade that was misdiagnosed until I moved to MD after retiring from football. 09 I went into cardiac arrest and got to hospital n wife told them I had thyroid goiters n Dr's back home said it was benign but Hopkins did deep cell biopsy and found cancer spread throughout thyroid and neck. Found My t3 t4 was making hormone but thyroid was non functional n had multiple cancerous goiters

I went thru radiation and thyroidectomy and had all lymph nodes removed from neck and jaw. Developed type 1 -5 yrs ago n now use supplements like A.A. Antioxidatants, Vitamins multiple deficient. My body lost significant inflammation and my weight went down 150lbs.
