Do you need to buy the resistor? Or is it optional

If you but the harness from Gen5 DIY, it will come with them. But if you plan to splice into the factory lines, you will need to buy them. They are pretty cheap to buy and come with splice adapters

Hey good video. I have a 2016 v6 camaro and my aftermarket vland taillights hyperflash. I was going to buy a harness like you have listed, but why will it not work for aftermarket tailights? Does that mean I have to manually wire resistors into my factory harness? and do you have a wiring diagram?

Thanks for watching! I am not too sure if the harness will work or not but my thinking is that they have it sired different or is wired for RS cars but I do not have wiring diagram unfortunately I had to do a lot of testing

Does the 2014 ss have this as well mine been hyper flashing was just one blinker but now 2 blinkers

It's completely possible to have this for the 5th gens. If you upgraded your headlights, taillights, or upgraded to LED than you will need resistors in line as well. This can be as simple as getting the harness (if they make one) or adding a resistor.

@RCCamaro yes I do there morimoto color changing with halos drls went out then blinker issues not sure if I should just bring it in or figure it out myself. Lol 😎👍

its probably that. Most aftermarket headlight housing's have built in resistors or ballasts. I would say if you were to get new ones or fix the DRLS that went out it would fix it. its pretty much signaling that there is something wrong with the circuit.

@RCCamaro hey that's a good point! Maybe that's where the problem is I haven't tested the drls thought they ran with the blinker. But not sure. Lol

@DEADPOLES haha it's possible they are tied in together (wouldn't be surprised if they do). But if that doesn't fix it then it's probably needs a resistor. They do fail after some time.

So if u buy vland headlights they are not plug and play I got a 2.0 2016 and they don’t have the led lights they have halogen and j want the ones that look like an eyebrow with drl

@cactusjavk ohhhh they are the 4 light ones right? Yea I had to buy mine from a junk yard in Florida haha but these are getting super rare to find for some odd reason

Thanks for uploading. Dealing with the same issue. Harness company says harness only compatible with OEM assembly swap. Are your led tail lights oem?

My lights are oem. The harness from gen 5 diy will work. I think they mean if you try and use the aftermarket tail lights and head lights.

Quick question- did you just connect the single resistor harness to one side? I know the dual resistor is for adding led reverse bulbs. Want to make sure I’m installing correctly. Thanks again!

@@damiansalazar4969 revisa tus luces. podría ser una bombilla fundida o si actualizó a las luces traseras LED RS, entonces necesitará el arnés para detener el parpadeo rápido.

@brianm1997 should still work but please keep in mind that most of my videos are for the v6 so everything not dealing with the engine should apply to your car also.
