Hyoid bone

Ғылым және технология

It's the hyoid bone! Anatomy. Its parts, where it is, what's nearby, what it's attached to and why it is sometimes considered an indicator of murder.

Thank you for this. I was so confused about where everything was. I have a throat injury that was considered spontaneous. Nothing showed up on the CT scan but I swear I feel something moving about and poking and sticking the inside of my throat and it is so painful to even touch. There have been a few points where I've moved wrong and it almost feels like poking and about to suffocate me for a few seconds lol. This helps me, who has really been wanting to know what's going on, gauge where the injury might be and what is going on.

I feel like no one can answer this question for me. Is it possible that the thyroid cartilage can rub on to the hyoid bone like sometimes ill be moving my adams apple with the thyroid cartilage and it rubs on a bone on my left side it feels like a bone of some sort and I keep freaking out about it. Like if I stretch my tongue in a weird way it will do it while I'm moving my thyroid cartilage up. I try to explain this to people and most are confused I think I just have been hyper aware of it.

Is that something that happens? I can't imagine why, unless for the removal of some kind of bone cancer. Would the hyoid be prone to that? I can tell you it wouldn't be good to lose that part, as it's a rather integral part of the structure of the larynx, the pharynx, and of the trachea in general.

Ok, I was strangled about three weeks ago, after I developed anisocoria, but I didn’t put the two together. I went to the doctor anyway and she told me that some people just have this condition because at the time it was not affecting my eye. A few days later I developed oral thrush, I went back to the doctor and received medication that helped. I stated coughing up tonsil stones and having bad breath. So I decided to have a good feed around my neck and this bone has snapped into my windpipe on the left side. I can feel the indentation on the outside of my neck and I was able to stick my fingers in my throat, and right enough on the left side it’s sticking in my throat. It’s not sore but I am guessing this is why I developed thrush.. food particles getting caught in my throat? Should I be worried about this? Edit: I also have clicking in my throat when I swallow, but it’s only when my head is bent slightly forward.

What happened with this? The strangest shit has happened to me and I'm not even sure what caused it. No strangulation. I'm thinking it could be due to poor sleeping position or my toddler (the size of the average 7 yr old) hanging around my neck like I'm a tree. Anyway, 4 weeks ago I started having significant issues with swallowing. I mean I was pureeing my food and everything. Liquid was fine. Then 5 days ago I felt something shift in my throat. It was extraordinarily painful for about 20 seconds and then there was a sense of relief with swallowing. However, I now hear a clicking noise upon swallowing about 40 percent of the time and it feels almost like that epiglottis flap is taking too long to open back up. Like I get this very brief feeling of panic after swallowing. It has, to this day, allows opened up but idk, it just feels like I'm uncomfortably aware of the mechanics. I felt my epiglottis flap, for lack of a better anatomical term with my finger and just below that is what feels like a bone nearly protruding through the skin, on left and right side. Keeps shifting. Is this normal anatomy? I know nothing about it. What did you ever figure out and HOW? I am convinced I have a strange dislocation or something. I'm a bit worried. Ok upon watching this video it isn't the hyoid unless it's very dislocated and it's one of the horns. It almost feels like a small chicken bone. About to go on a throat anatomy tangent bc wtf is this shit? They were supposed to call me for a barium swallow test but I'm not having as much trouble ever since this painful shift 5 days ago. Dude did say I had an inflamed larynx but just prescribed antacids.

Can this bone get caught with your throat? I remember my throat getting stiff and hard to turn my neck for about 5 seconds , I took a hard swallow and felt a nice pop in my throat and everything was back to normal 😅

If i was strangled as an infant as i was screaming as loud as i could, is it possible that i could have dislocated my hyoid? I have been able to "pop" my throat into place on 2 seperate occasions and my voice dropped significantly but it alwasy pops back to where i have a higher pitch voice. Can anybody help me? Ive been searching for any help for 30 years now with nothing and now here i am grasping at straws. This is a cry for help please if anyone has any information i would greatly appreciate any knowledge that anyone can bestow on me!
