"He's willing, but sometimes he's just not able." Aww Agip baby 😭🥰😍
When I was a kid I really disliked hyenas because cheetahs were my favorite animals. I am really happy I matured and realised that nature doesn't know good or bad, it's just what it is. Today I can watch these videos and be kinda fascinated by them. Great job Kevin (and your Team) to continue educating people!

Such wise words, thanks for your support!💛
Hyenas definitely deserve more love than they get. You're a lucky man. Thank you for everything hyena. They've been my favourite animals for as long as I can remember, and I'm an old man now. I remember going to the zoo and finding nothing but stuffed big cat toys, no hyenas. So, I'd leave with other underdogs, such as the wildebeest. Yeah, they had wildebeest toys, but no hyenas. Anyway, thank you, again, I appreciate what you do.✌🏼
Hyenas are one of my most loved creatures (alongside blue & red heelers 😉) How can anyone call them ugly?? They're so gorgeous! And their 'laugh' is one of the things I love about them 😍❤️ Thankyou for educating people about them Kevin 🙂👍
@Tr1sty.9
2 жыл бұрын
I agree! There's nothing ugly about them and when you ask sombody how they are ugly they usually respond with "because they scavange and they are gross cause they eat their prey alive!" But the way an animal eats or does to survive has nothing to do with the way they look!
I love all their sounds they make, but especially the whoop. So intelligent to know that by letting go a "whoop" towards the ground, it vibrates off it, sounds louder, travels farther, and it expends less of your energy!!🤓❤

I absolutely love the fact that Kevin gives the animals in his care the space and freedom to be their own being, and respects their individual needs and personalities! So true,I've watched videos where owners try to control their animals and force them to do what the owner wants and get angry if the animal hasn't got a clue what the humans talking about
I've never seen a hyena with a grey face. He looks rather distinguished! It's so heart warming to see them get to live to old age.
They are a beautiful creature! Their ears make me smile! Agip is very handsome with his greying features on his face and legs and that slow lop he runs with. He looked as if he was enjoying his walk out in the landscape. I love the way truck comes to pick him up after his big day out! Thanks Kevin! Its a real treat to learn about them.
When I was younger I wasn’t a fan of Hyenas. But after finding Kev and watching his content, I learned about them. Since I’ve become a fan and realize that all the non evasive animals found in a ecosystem have a role and are magnificent. We as humans might not like our interactions with them, but the role they play is important to the survivability of that ecosystem. Thanks Kevin and your team, plus Kim Wolhuter enlighten us on Hyenas.
Hyenas are incredible creatures! Thanks to their scavenging ability that make the earth more livable for many others! Can't even be more grateful having them along with all of us!

I don't have a lot of the preconceived ideas about hyenas but the fact that they can outperform chimps did surprise me. I'm also surprised chimps failed that particular test, I know elephants, and I think crows but don't quote me on that, can successfully complete it. But chimps also outperform humans by a significant margin on some working memory tasks. Intelligence comes in many forms.

Disney was only repeating, in comparatively mild form, the African folktale denigration of Hyena. Almost from the dawn of human consciousness, we have been using spotted hyenas (in particular) as scapegoats for our own failings, and proof of our "civilization" in contrast to the "scandalous" ways of spotted hyenas. This is because they are a legitimate kingdom unto themselves, and a legitimate alternative to our form of social organisation. They challenge our notions of superiority and the necessity of our social order. They prove there is another way to live. Certainly, the exportation of hyena's bad reputation was continued into European bestiaries (from the 12th century onward, etc.), so that Europeans who had never seen (and would never seen) a hyena thought of them as hermaphroditic sodomites. Who knows, it may even be some holdover from the ice age hyenas (in Europe). In any case, we've been using them as the "whipping boy" for 100,000 years. Disney just continued that tradition.
I love Hyenas even more than Lions. Beautiful creatures! :)...YES, more please!
I have learned so much about hyenas from Kevin, Geena and Little Nicholas. They are truly remarkable. Love the different sounds. They have their own conversations within the clans.
Sending love to Agip! The handsome old man! And all hyenas! They are beautiful and amazing! Thank you Kevin for the one and only series! On all the series!! You teach us so much! And the myths that are rubbish! 💞

I have always found your relationship with Ajip fascinating in that he challenges you but what a magnificent animal he is! They really are such beautiful and funny animals. The hyenas are my fiance's favourite on your channel.
Ah, one and only Agip the oldest hyenas in Kevin’s sanctuary!!! Just like my 14 yo toy poodle girl, he has gray all around his face 🥰🥰🥰 His expression is soft and sweet, yet his ability to smell is still keen as it seems and he can sped up if he wants to! Physical resilience and cognitive strength, plus strong bonds of the clan are all their strength of survival as species. As Kevin said, they are vital species in nature. Besides, they are actually adorable when you look closer especially babies, and loving creature deserves so much better treatment with respect from the world.

@talastra
2 жыл бұрын
It is less a "shame" that hyenas have a bad reputation and more an admission that "human" cultural values are not "universal" but a cultural pretence. The "amazing" thing about hyenas, if you like, is that they have evolved their own culture, their own society, their own way of life that is not harmed or damaged by humans despising them. From a human perspective, spotted hyenas are the original "marginalised people," but they nevertheless thrive. It will sound like hyperbole (and that's fine), but as a marginalized person myself, I have learned from spotted hyenas (and African folktales about them) how to live better, to live more at peace in a world where I am continuously pushed to the perimeter. I have learned from their wisdom, in that sense.

Hyenas are my favorite animals! I knew nothing about them and had only negative attitudes about them. I've watched lots of nature documentaries but Kevin teaches lots of interesting untold, on a deeper-level stuff! ;D I believe that people believe hyenas are cowardly, ugly, sneaky, stupid because of the way they are portrayed in many documentaries and animated movies...To be honest, I also saw them this way when I was a kid.
