Hydro Tasmania (1916 - 1972)

To help Hydro Tasmania celebrate its centenary the Tasmanian Archive and Heritage Office has put together this compilation of six films. Covering a period from 1916 to 1972 this footage includes the opening of the Waddamana power station, construction and maintenance work at Tarraleah, Lake St. Clair, Liawenee, Derwent Gorge and the birth of the Strathgordon village in 1972.
Did you or your family work for the Hydro Electric Commission (HEC) in the 60s? Of special interest is some c1962 footage of a picnic trip for HEC employees and family to New Norfolk, maybe you're there!

Hi, and thanks for watching our video! Many of the early films from our collection weren't recorded with sound. Generally we don't add music or narration to them either so that they stay historically accurate.
Annotation of the years for each scene would be helpful for the viewer to have a better idea of timescale and when the events occurred
